Royal mail tracking not updated in ebay

I posted 4 Royal Mail tracked 48 parcels on Monday, Ebay shows no tracking activity on the sold items but if I check on the Royal Mail "Track your item" page all show that they are in transit showing up to date details.  Has the link between Royal Mail Tracking and Ebay failed?

I think we all have very mixed experiences. You might not have had any issues which is great and how it should be but they definitely occur, and for me have only occurred when adding tracking manually.

 

I posted earlier in this topic about a situation I had recently. To make that even stranger, I purchased two labels for two different orders at the same time. I uploaded the tracking to eBay at the same time. One of them was fine and updated a few hours later when it was on the move but the other never updated. On Royal Mail, tracking for both was fully visible.

 

So it seems that eBay sometimes has a problem correctly capturing the tracking. Someone posted here or on a similar topic that their eBay rep had confirmed this like two weeks ago and said IT engineers were working on it. 

 

It’s worrying when funds are going to be held pending tracking confirming delivery, if the tracking is not displaying correctly.

We will just have to wait and see how this failure to update tracking correctly impacts the future payouts which will rely on tracking showing delivery.

 

Currently if eBay tracking has not updated, and you have tracking to show it has ,  a call to CS and they can update / release any payout on hold. 

 

No idea, and no one can confirm if this will still be the case,  and an avenue  open to release a payout sooner,  when Simple Delivery becomes mandatory for Private sellers.

Currently if eBay tracking has not updated, and you have tracking to show it has ,  a call to CS and they can update / release any payout on hold. 

 

Is it not a sign of a failed process when wasting a Sellers time in contacting overseas cs for correcting what a reliable system should perform?

Previously when ive been compelled to contact cs, after much passing around and lost time they quote not having the authority to perform account tasks.

Downdetector showed that Royal Mail had problems with its own tracking system with numerous errors reported over the last couple of days. It may be that Ebay just needs to catch up, as happened a couple of weeks ago?

Personally ive not encountered issues with Royal Mail, maybe im just fortunate - where as its normal life with ebay in most of its applications, playing catch up or not.

Royal Mail have not set up a system where by funds are held back from users until a correct delivery is confirmed, unlike ebay. 

ebay have no incentive to have a working tracking system, when they hold the whipping stick and delay payouts for a couple of weeks.

Surely their incentive is to not lose sellers. There’s only so far they can tip the scales for buyers before people walk away from selling and decide is not worth the hassle.

 

I’m a relatively infrequent seller. Maximum a few batches of stuff a year. The beauty of eBay was that it was pretty simple and it was secure, and that there was an actual apparatus behind it should things go wrong. 

We’ve already seen that they’re now pushing sellers to accept all return requests. They’re barely even looking if it’s a not as described case. Of course some are legitimate but plenty are not. 

Now if you add in them dictating deliveries and holding funds, is it actually going to feel like you’re selling anything? Purchase is complete, buyer pays, you ship it out, wait for delivery, wait to see if the buyer actually accepts it or not… and you see the money when?

 

Smaller values maybe okay but I’m seriously wary about selling anything with a decent value in that scenario. I’m certainly not going to be selling some of the stuff I previously was on here.

The old pleasure of selling (and browsing to buy) on ebay has long gone.

The financial attractions of selling on ebay has been negated.

Greed and absence of integrity are abundant now.

Would i recommend a friend to sell on ebay ? No

Would i recommend an enemy to sell on ebay ? Hmmm?

So my mum sent a parcel on her account, dropped it off at the post office, was registered as being dropped off on the royal mail website tracking and yet eBay does not acknowledge that it was dropped off at all. Tracking is blank.

 

She has to wait for payment after delivery before the funds are released. This absolutely does not bode well for this new payment after delivery nonsense. If it never updates in ebay, that means sellers are screwed and will have to potentially fight dodgy buyers who claim items as not received. 

 

Bravo, eBay. Rolling out a new system thats not working. Classic.

I've just checked RM tracking on an item i've ordered from HMV - tracking says not available,try again tomorrow (it said that yesterday too) - how on earth are we supposed to trust this new system of waiting for confirmation from the buyers / companies delivering before we're paid if this is the standard of tracking?

When HMV and similar companies ship they don't use a fully tracked service, they have a watered down version that is cheaper and updates once the item has been delivered.

 

This is why you get message, tracking not available.

 

This service is only open to companies that ship huge numbers because they can't be scanned in a delivery office due to the volume, they go to a RM main hub or mail centre they are typically known as.

 

They aren't shipping the odd mail sack, they are sending truckloads of orders.

 

Royal Mail tracked that small businesses use are scanned at the delivery office and then sorted for dispatch. around the country, hence the reason you will see item received at that location once scanned.

 

So no you are not trusting a new system.

Tracking finally updated on ebays end on the day of delivery. However, the buyer wasn't in so due to their lack of ability to ensure they were home for a parcel sent on a 48hr service, payment will now be withheld for a further 4 days due to no possible redelivery until Monday, plus 2 days after delivery (depending if the buyer is actually in this time) 

 

How incredibly unfair is that? What should have been a very simple: buyer pays for item, money clears the same day, payout gets initiated, money is then in bank the same day, now decends into utter madness of waiting for proof of delivery before payment is even eligible for payout and if the buyer messes up the delivery several more days are added onto the waiting time.

 

And if the buyer isn't home again on Monday.. That'll be a minimum of a further 3 more days of the money being withheld. 🙃

Complete *bleep* up in the last week or so no royal mail parcels which incidentally were purchased through the bay link have been updated especially ones to the global shipping hub all sent via 1st class signed for and tracked 24 so consequently no payout for possibly 14 days me thinks a deliberate ploy to rid ebay of private sellers and surely if they are holding onto funds in the knowledge of it being delivered say if you have received positive feedback is just plain wrong hopefully a glitch since the new improved! payouts system but let's see.

eBay are currently experiencing an issue with tracking on some items not updating.

 

I'll tag Community Manager dave@ebay   who is dealing with this,  and he can add your account to the ' bug ticket'.

Thanks for that - remind me please, is the major part of ebays new payment process hinged upon the fragile Tracking process ?

 

Its so sad for the Sellers relying on the funds, what impact has this on ebay financially and reputation wise?

The Tech issues surrounding tracking have been ongoing for years - maybe the inept decision to use that information as a key factor to ebays scheme could be reassessed.

Pfft. When they fix the delivery side they'll probably break the sent and then we'll probably get an official message along the lines of;

 

For payout we need proof of sending and for delivery.

 

& when they fix that they'll probably need proof of passing a flying pig mid transit.
