It’s not the cost increase but change in insured amount.
For Tracked 48 hours cost increases to £3.55 but insured amount halves from £150 to £75!
So as I plan to list some vases that I expect to sell for £135 each to £145 and package will weigh over 1KG.
Only insurance is Special Delivery with comp to £750 at a cost of £14.25 😬
If I use eBay’s special delivery (well I will have to) how much do they insure for?
Also I don’t have a printer, so can I use a QR code and print label at drop off point?

Special Delivery is insured for up to £750. Usually SD best in these situations, because you get a better price than over the counter at the Post Office - which would be £14.75 for up to 2kg Special Delivery with £750 insurance.

I presume you mean eBay's Simple Delivery? Items sent with Simple Delivery are covered against loss or damage for the full amount of the item provided they are eligible for Simple Delivery. There is no actual limit but items have to have a Buy it Now or Auction start price of £750 or less to be eligible.
If you don't have a printer then you can either take the QR code that you will be provided with to a Post Office, Royal Mail delivery office, or parcel shop for them to print the label or you can arrange a collection with Royal Mail and they will bring the label with them.

Royal Mail are predatory a-holes, but there are ways around it in your situation.
Since you're a private seller, what I would do is simply use eBay's Simple Delivery option, which covers the full value of the order in the event of damage or loss during transit. In the past, I have sold an item for ~£500 on a private account, paid £3.45 for a Simple Delivery label, had the buyer claim it wasn't delivered even though there was delivery confirmation, and eBay simply dealt with it on my behalf with no effect on my account or payout for that item. This means you don't have to fork out stupid amounts to Royal Mail for a shipping option that is way over the top for what you need, but also that you're covered in the event of anything going wrong for an amount far higher than the newly slashed £75.
Don't let Royal Mail's a-hole business practices get in the way of selling as normal 🙂
Hope that helps!

Total greed in my opinion!
I do not believe that their overheads can justifify such increases , now up to 20kg rm 48 up from £10.80 to £11.30!
Had nothing but issues with RM this year with late deliveries and lost parcels and as for compensation thats a joke. Sealions jump through less hoops at the circus than what we have to just to try and get a claim through!
Greed greed greed.. what with ebay fees, VAT tax and all the rest of it as well as now zero international sales thanks to GSPR nonsence seems they are all hell bent on shutting down the small sellers one by one , one way or another!
Rant over.

Can't believe they have dropped the insurance to £75.
Now you have to use special delivery for £8.75. Unbelievable! They can go to hell.

Its absolutely also about the price increase, they only just raised prices in April.
The reduction in insurance is just an extra added *bleep* take.
