Hi Fellow Sellers
I need to rant and vent a real frustration here...
I get that as business sellers we are bound by not only Ebay rules but also by the Consumer Rights Act. I get it, it's the law and we have to abide .
The frustrating part is that any buyer has the right to return an item for ANY reason they see fit.
I operate a 30 day returns policy, it works and no doubt most genuine buyers feel re assured that a genuine issue will be professionally dealt with in that period. So... where is the allowance of additional time allowed from?
I sold an item on 5th March, tracked and delivered 9th March.
E bay give this customer until 17th April to return this item.
The reason for the return is totally arguable and although I present a perfectly good explanation to the buyer it's my problem..
Please someone explain to me why I am expected to honour such a long return process.
It's bad enough being responsible for an item in the post until it reaches a buyers hands.. Another rant for another day...

Perhaps that 'extra' time includes the time allowed for the buyer to post the item? If a buyer leaves it until the end of the 30 days to start the return, then has 10 business days to get it posted, it can be well over six weeks before the item finally gets back to the seller... by which time, other would-be buyers will very likely have lost interest/purchased elsewhere. Ah, the joys of eBay selling... 😬

The Consumer Contracts Regulations give consumers a 14 day cooling off period during which time they can return most items for a full refund without needing to give a reason. The Consumer Rights Act gives consumers a 30 day short-term right to reject goods that do not conform with the contract which is inline with eBay's Money Back Guarantee.
You can set your return window for remorse returns to 14 days in your return policies.
