I recently sold an item and the buyer is not happy with it and wants a refund.
I have agreed to this and the buyer is returning it but has not opened a case.
I want to refund his payment in full when I get the item back.
Is there a way I can do this and get a refund of my final value fee without the buyer opening a case?
A happy GPSR to you all and good luck.

Ideally the buyer should open a return but if not wait to get the item back then issue a cancellation and refund via the process. Click on the dropdown menu arrow alongside the item on your sold list and select Cancel order. Get item back first though.

Just to add to the advice given, if you end up doing a cancellation, then Cancel Order citing Buyer Requests to Cancel, that will refund you your seller fees, refund the buyer, and your seller performance is not affected.

Sounds good. I'll report back when I know the outcome.

Thanks folks. I followed your advice.
The item came back, the buyer got his refund and my FVF of about £35 was refunded.
