The introduction of the eBay Buyer Protection fee of 75p plus 4% of the value of goods, effective from 19th February 2025 has effectively killed off eBay (UK).
Buyers have walked away and Private Sellers are now forced to drastically reduce their prices to try to compete with 'Business Sellers', who are not subject to the eBay Buyer Protection fees.
It's a great shame, and unless eBay's management team in San Jose, California see the error of their ways, and quickly, there will be nothing left to salvage from the wreckage !!

Posts can be reported by members, in which case the mods will review them for inappropriate content, or the mods might spot a post themselves without it being reported.
The moderators make the decisions to edit posts, remove posts, and sanction the poster.

They apply the rules selectively? No, that can't be true.

I have not censored you - I do not work for ebay. In fact, I can't disagree that its possible that BPF has had an impact on customers making a decision of whether to buy on ebay. It is certainly possible.
Given you yourself are posting from 6am to 8pm day after day, I'm wondering when would be an appropriate time to disagree with you? I can schedule it in then.
My issue is you have been simply post 'facts' that are nothing more than an opinion. Case in point...
"eBay employees and mods might not agree with me, but they KNOW I AM RIGHT !!!"

BPF - Buyer Protection FEE - however FUND seems appropriate as it is eBay funding themselves for a " service" that is not "protective" in any way in my opinion.

Agreed, there are forum rules , so let the moderators do their job - frankly anyone reporting another " members" post/comment/opinion is limiting their free speech - one that is valued and protected in the U.K under law and should remain so.
Everyone is an individual and expresses what their opinion is in their own way, from their own experiences...no-one should try and shut anyone down just because they do not agree with a comment as long as it is not threatening or abusive, I have yet to see anyone threatening another and if anyone has any issue with another poster, there is the private message option...again adhering to eBay forum rules.

So direct insults are OK then?

I have not suggested that at all... have a read of the forum rules.

LOL Bless - don’t patronise me.
At times like these (and there’s been quite a number of these times) feelings run high - but that does not give any poster the right to step over the (moderators) line.
They’re paid to do a job - and they do their job.
Anyways, with some comments referring to posters being eBay employees, the other side of the coin may be insinuated as well.
That I can presume that poster, who continually puts down eBay, works for either Vinted, eBid, Amazon, AliExpress, etc? (ludicrous notion, I know)
Especially those who’ve said they no longer sell and no longer buy here.
Why spend the time on the Boards then?

The £1000 is a TRADING allowance... selling of personal items is not trading... amounts can vary due to personal circumstances, bereavement, moving home, unwanted gifts, clearing the attic, garage etc..30 items per year is nothing when faced with these situations.
Nothing has changed regarding tax laws.

This is less of an issue than you may think.
Ebay have started asking sellers for NI Numbers (they asked for mine yesterday) and they will be reporting sellers' personal details and their sales to HMRC once the seller passes certain thresholds.
Irrespective of whether sellers are correctly registered as business sellers with Ebay or not, HMRC will now have all the relevant information to pursue them for tax owed,
Ebay seem to be a bit of a 'soft touch' when it comes to enforcing business accounts. Only somebody who is a bit daft will think that HMRC will deal with them so leniently.

Khoros are pretty well on the mark - and do the moderation job well.
Just as the previous set of moderators were on the previous Boards - and they really had their work cut out for them!

LOL I have not patronised you and my comment was in response to another member not you so unsure why you even commented and suggested that insults are okay ?- I never said that they were and to have a read of the forum rules...( that goes to anyone who needs to clarify what is acceptable) Please read my original comment again, I have said that it is the moderators job and never suggested that they don't do their job. I agree that some commentators can be "brash" but have not seen anyone threatening another. I am unsure what you are getting at and if you feel offended by someone there is the private message option whereby it can perhaps be " ironed" out.?
If your comment about those no longer selling and buying is directed towards me... I have only just stopped, that doesn't take away my experiences of such or if I can help anyone here whilst I wait for some things in " motion" and is my understanding I can access the boards whilst my account is still open.
Have a great day.
