Problem with track48 serial YA Royal Mail

I bought a track48 label through eBay and this morning a nice lady at the Post Office said that track48 with the YA number is not accepted and that I should contact the seller. does anyone have a similar problem? did ebay uk sell me a fake label?

Re: Problem with track48 serial YA Royal Mail

Thank you - yeah really hoping it tracks soon/updates - I mean 1 out of 2 parcels is better than none but I’m quite surprised both Royal Mail and eBay allows this to happen they should of just voided all the labels  and did replacements for free at the post office as this is a sticky situation now for us. I’m pretty sure if it doesn’t update by midnight tonight I’m in trouble here but I’m glad to hear yours have now all been updated that one hour ago gives me some hope for mine

Re: Problem with track48 serial YA Royal Mail

My parcel is now on the move and I've sent my customer a message.
It seems that Royal Mail adding a new prefix at the weekend was probably ill-advised and presumably not properly coordinated with the Post Office Horizon system which didn't know about the new prefix in time.
Hope everyone now gets their parcels on the move asap too.

Re: Problem with track48 serial YA Royal Mail

I posted 10 items yesterday about 5 of them shows as courier scanned/dropped off today morning. I'm worried about the other 5 items as who is going to compensate me if the buyer does not receive them?

Same situation some have updated at main depot for delivery but others still say awaiting dispatch, awful situation for people, I’ve spoke to ebay who just basically blamed Royal Mail, even when I pointed out it was simple delivery which had nothing to do with me as a seller they were just not interested, hopefully everyone gets sorted but could have been handled much better from eBay in my opinion

Did you use RM and dropped off at a PO? As I don't recognise "courier scanned/dropped off"

Re: Problem with track48 serial YA Royal Mail

Yes, normally eBay should say 'Dispatched - Courier scan 5 Aug' and it should say 'Item Received' on the Royal Mail tracking page.

The remaining 5 items I dropped off on Monday show that it’s been scanned few hours ago. Panic over lol

That is so good to hear!  I do hope the poster on here who called me stupid,  when I  tried to help and said it will just take time for the tracking  to update , and show delivery will see this , too!  😐

Re: Problem with track48 serial YA Royal Mail

Thanks for the update - I’ve now got one that simply hasn’t updated from Saturday which is very odd - all the other started to track yesterday but this one is still showing nothing 😢

Re: Problem with track48 serial YA Royal Mail

You're definitely NOT stupid, but the problem isn't the items that will eventually be scanned (altho' buyers may still say they're late) but those that may somehow slip through and don't get scanned at all. Whether or not they've arrived at their destination will remain a mystery.

Thank you @goodibags  🤗

The good news about any items being marked with a late delivery or item not received cases,  then a Community manager has confirmed this:

There will be automated protections in place for impacted sellers for nay late shipments and item not received service metrics.

I would keep those dates ' in mind'  for when all this RM fiasco happened to remind CS if your account is later affected,  and one has to contact them !

Bit uncalled for from that person. But yes my worry is that it wasn’t going to get scanned at all and opened by Royal Mail. I’ve heard so much stories of parcels being stolen or opened.

Yes, it was uncalled for but hey ho, 'It's Stay Calm and Carry On'  here ! 🤗

I agree with you when systems fail be it a big or a small tech issue, our dependency then lies with how quickly it was recognised,  and any subsequent faults which occurred,  are rectified.

Re: Problem with track48 serial YA Royal Mail

My ya was collected  successfully and scanned at the door and excepted.

One other strange thing (coincidence I ask myself) that i had to book my collection through Royal  Mail website as you could not seem to book through ebay and their  not so simple delivery and low and behold it is taking the "correct " route ie to gatwick and then says it is being delivered Monday rather than round the houses to Coventry parcel force and it is tracking the way it used to not a day or so behind as I say is it coincidence or are you better of booking it direct on the rm website

Re: Problem with track48 serial YA Royal Mail

Yes I have had the same problem this week, so I went  to the Royal mail site and purchased a 48 tracked label, but this still has not ARRIVED at the buyers address. It was collected from my house on Wednesday the 6th August it is now Sunday the 10th and still no parcel delivery...    My buyer as gave me negative feedback on ebay (20 years with 100% poss) and accussed my of scamming him (for a £10 sale, who is he kidding) Perhaps it's time to move to Evri, etc...

Re: Problem with track48 serial YA Royal Mail

These consequences (from last weekend) have been widely anticipated and you will not be the only one impacted and experiencing problems.

It's a shame Ebay have not been more proactive in announcing the measures that will be put in place for supporting the issues arising, aside from pledging to remove negative feedback arising from late or 'not received' cases or items that appear to have been dispatched after the estimated delivery date.

Of course, it's the sellers that have to deal with irate buyers and you will still have to contact Ebay C.S. about getting a refund for the unused/invalid postage label (as well as deleting feedback). And you may have to wait a while before you can do this, possibly up to 28 days.

Under SD it would be up to Ebay to refund the buyer, although the item could and should still arrive early next week and the tracking will hopefully be updated to show this.

Re: Problem with track48 serial YA Royal Mail

If you phone eBay they will remove the negative feedback. As this was eBay’s & Royal Mails fault, for delays and errors.
