I bought a track48 label through eBay and this morning a nice lady at the Post Office said that track48 with the YA number is not accepted and that I should contact the seller. does anyone have a similar problem? did ebay uk sell me a fake label?

Yep, others are having the same issue today, many reports of this coming through, you are not alone.
Seems for the time being, the answer is to either buy your own postage label through Royal Mail / Post Office, or try again later for an SD label.
Then, for the unused label:

Yes I have just come back from the Post Office today as the Royal Mail bar code would not scan.

I had the same issue this morning trying to get three separate post offices to accept the parcel I had. it was a Royal Mail tracked 48 label generated by EBays “Simple Delivery”
When I got home I got onto EBay’s customer service. After going round in circles for ages I eventually got to chat with a human. She said their technical department are aware of this issue that is due to their code generating system the label are not being accepted at post offices and I would be sent a new label within 24 hours. The new label will have the same tracking number.
I will be advised in an email what to do by their technical team
Hope this helps
Simple Delivery not so simple after all !!

Many thanks. I have a call in with the customer service so am waiting for them to call me back. I thought it might be a common issue as the waiting time has gone up. Will they automatically be sending a new label or do the thousands of people have to ring Ebay to get a new label sent.

Not sure if they will send a new label automatically, might be worth asking when you get to speak to somebody.

Personally, as this seems to be a big tech issue many are experiencing I would not ' trust' wait for eBay to 'promise' to send a new label, especially as they could be doing this for hundreds of peeps.
I would buy your own postage label through Royal Mail / Post Office, or maybe try again yourself later for an SD label.
Then, for the unused label:
- If you selected 'Buyer pays’ when you created the listing, your buyer will automatically be refunded for any Simple Delivery label that isn’t used after 30 days
- If you selected ‘Seller pays’ and offered free postage on your listing, you'll need to fill out the Request a refund for Simple Delivery form for the label that wasn’t used. Make sure to send your request within 14 days of your item selling.

They'll be attending to hundreds of labels to be sent out, they may easily miss out some?
Personally, I would buy my own and as my post above explains how to receive refunds for the unused labels.

I'm puzzled, if the new tracking number is the same as the previous one than why would you need a new label? Why not just go back to the P.O. once the scanning glitch has been resolved?
Ebay seems to be piling through these daily 'glitches' quicker than anyone can think them up.
Yesterday we had the doubling up of postage charges on sold items, one to the buyer and a separate one to the seller.
The day before that Ebay was charging some sellers a fee just for updating their listings.
What's coming next? Ebay disappearing behind a paywall?

If eBay knows there's an issue then why not pull the tracked 48 simple delivery service until the issue is resolved?

Mine was accepted and a label printed, but I was then told I wouldn't get a receipt and that a number of people with the YA labels had the same problem before me. I decided just to take photos with the label on it at the post office counter before she popped it in the bag.

'What's coming next? Ebay disappearing behind a paywall?'

😂😂 well that'd certainly help with my time-management!
I'd get loads more work done if I didn't keep getting drawn back here by ghoulish fascination to see how it's going....

Is this an Ebay issue or possibly a Post Office issue I wonder?
I bought a tracked 48 label through Click & Drop (nothing to do with Ebay), and had it collected by Royal Mail today. It has a YA prefix to the number. Tracking is working. What I don't know is what would have happened if I had taken it to a Post Office.

Why oh why don’t eBay communicate?
Loads of posts about this but no announcement, banner or information.
I’m seriously beginning to subscribe to the theory there is an undercover (other platform) employee amongst eBay’s ranks trying to wreck the whole setup!

Same problem here, but isn't just affecting ebay. Bought tracked 48 through ebay, generated YA label and post office couldn't accept it. Came home and bought label through Click and Drop, YA label generated too, took to post office and still unable to scan. Will try again tomorrow 😂

So looks like a Post Office problem rather than an Ebay problem.

I too bought an Ebay label with the Royal Mail YA tracking number which was not accepted at the post office. Bought a second label and same problem. Bought my own label via the Roayal Mail website and went through all ok. So now I have paid out 2 @ £3.38p each and a Royal mail label @ £4.05p Applied for a refund from Ebay and that's going through but the second label can't be refunded ?? Why interfere with a great label service when nothing wrong.

So you buy the postage while the buyer gets the refund!
