People need to double check what their postage says when revising and double check it after it’s listed so you don’t get nasty surprises or people may be being interested but thinking sod that I ain’t paying for that postage
i relisted an item I had on with small parcel postage
EBay changed it to medium parcel …I’m relisting so nothing should be changed unless I decide to change it
they recommended small parcel but had actually ticked the medium parcel option for me
NO
i was selling 4 napkin rings there’s no way on this earth I would ever have originally chosen medium parcel for that!!
So be careful
normally when relisting or sell similar I don’t check the postage, I assume it’s just replicated as before
Oh by the way ebay your new layout with silly little up and down arrows that don’t make it clear what you’re actually clicking for is not an improvement

A lot of my listings are Large Letter. But on sell similar they have mostly been changed to Small Parcel!
Another thing to check each listing when revising or sell similar is eBay changes your dispatch window to 2 days. I have to change it back to 3 days each time. I also have to change it to 'Seller Pays' each time cos default is 'buyer pays' despite it originally being Free Postage.
It's a minefield now!😭

...'normally when relisting or sell similar I don’t check the postage, I assume it’s just replicated as before.'
Yes, this is what it used to be like in the good old days, when you could trust your postage to be exactly the same as when you originally selected it. Your price, your size/weight, your carrier, your service, end of.

Yes
and I went into other unsold items and clicked on view original listing to check the postage (just to make sure I wasn’t going mad and I had actually thought 4 napkins rings were listed as a massive parcel 🙄 🤣) as it shows under the price when live , but it’s not there anymore
you know what it’s like when you think it’s YOU that has got it wrong but know that it wasn’t but someone’s making you think it was you lol
so the question is why eBay are changing small parcel listings to medium parcel ones at least on relisting
addendum
error in my first post
i didn’t try to revise a listing I meant relist

'you know what it’s like when you think it’s YOU that has got it wrong but know that it wasn’t but someone’s making you think it was you lol... so the question is why eBay are changing small parcel listings to medium parcel ones at least on relisting'
I think you'd have to raise that with eBay's gaslighting department...

Can someone please spend a minute for me to test this to see if they’re getting the same
or if it’s me doing something wrong
if you have an unsold item that was a small parcel, go to relist please and see what the system ticks for its postage - small,or medium ?

Thanks for that,so not just my bumbling fingers or anything
not to mention they change postage only to collection and postage too
so you have to revise each item to post only
but you can do it in bulk edit at least
if it works
i clicked all my listings and it would only do five at a time with a message saying sneakers listings have to be individually amended
i dont have any flipping sneakers for sale
anyway
ps I only just came to thread and read your reply
I didn’t click your reply as solution
it was already there accepted as solution
Maybe it’s my bedtime then or can anyone click solution

I had a small parcel item that was a 'return', so I had a look to see what would happen if I tried to relist it. The listing had been updated to Simple Delivery. Originally the item had been posted 'normally' as a small parcel up to 2kg. The SD relisting 'recommended' a small parcel up to 1kg, which is what AI 'assumes' the item will weigh.
However, the pop-up box says 'Ensure the package is not heavier or larger than your size selection to avoid additional costs deducted from your account.'
So I would make sure I selected the up to 2kg weight for that item, if I decide to relist.
I don't know why on earth it would 'assume' your 4 x napkin rings would be a medium parcel up to 2kg... and your screenshot also has the 'recommended' size as a small parcel up to 2kg. Perhaps AI doesn't know what a napkin ring is, so it is hedging its bets... 🤖

I was having a think about this earlier and wondered if maybe it’s something to do with the older sd system where you chose small parcel but the parcel size options were medium only (ie when small and medium parcels were lumped in together and only way you could tell it was a small parcel was by the “from price”)
can’t explain it properly without getting a further headache so will just forget about it now and just double check when relisting
and lol at AI hedging bets 🥸
