Post Office turning away eBay sold packages

FOR GOODNESS SAKE WHAT IS GOING ON WITH eBAY ???

Visited my local Post Office outlet this pm. The customer in front of me had 4 of her items sold on eBay refused due to incorrect printed labels supplied by fleece-bay. The member of staff confirmed this customer was not the first to be turned away today.

I am sure that I read, eBay stated Post Offices will accept all items for dispatch.

Thats another incorrect bit of information from eBay.

The question I have, is what does that poor seller now do with those 4 items ??

OKAY, eBAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH … GET IT SORTED.

Yes, all post offices are supposed to be accepting these parcels... but in reality, this is not happening!

I suppose anyone with turned-away parcels has no option but to contact eBay about how to re-book & obtain refunds... but who needs this sort of hassle?!

It is Royal Mail eBay have the deal with, not the Post Office. They are two separate entities.

Just put everything in a postbox or parcel box.

You don't need to queue for a receipt any longer as everything sent by SD is covered against loss by eBay.

They will pay out if it goes missing.

Not ideal but I would take them to a Collect+. Failing that, find Royal Mail lockers or go to the local delivery office.

Apparently the Post Office have sent out an update explaining that parcels with 'Marketplace Seller' printed on them should be accepted regardless of size and weight. I spoke to both of my local Post Offices about this this morning and neither of them have heard anything about this.

One of them explained to me how last year they had let through some parcels with incorrect labels and had been fined by Royal Mail as a result, so you can understand why they will be reluctant to accept these parcels.

In these branches there is nowhere safe where you could leave parcels without a scan so with a mislabelled parcel you would have to take them somewhere where they will not check size / weight, eg either the delivery office or a collectplus location instead.

Clearly Ebay need to work with Royal Mail and the Post Office to get this message out to Post Office staff, some kind of public facing web page on postoffice.co.uk explaining the situation would certainly help.

Don't be silly now. You still need a proof of dispatch slip if a buyer made a claim against Ebay. No way would Ebay honour any claim if a seller said 'yes, I posted it but I have no proof'. 🙄🙄🙄🙄 We all know that even tracked items can get delivered without any tracking input from RM. No proof of postage, no tracking, youhave no proof you even sent the item.

None of the Post Offices I take items to regularly know anything about this 'communication' from Ebay. They are rejecting all items that do not fit the weight and size label that has been issued by Ebay.

Maybe Eve Williams will fall on her sword over this utter fiasco.

Any parcels marked with the marketplace seller stamp should be accepted according to ebay, below is an example:

If the post offices are not getting any payment for parcels then they can hardly be blamed for not accepting them - they are after all a business and cannot be expected to store and take charge of all these boxes for free.

I can't believe they will pay out if the seller can't produce a receipt - what happens if it doesn't get a first scan at a mail centre?  I'm interested to hear from any sellers with actual experience of lost RM parcels using Simpleton Delivery.

According to Ebay yes, in the real world, not a chance in hell.

Has there been any comment anywhere as to what a seller is meant to do with the parcel if it's refused?

No Obey employees coming on here to comment I see? This place is becoming a joke, they clearly don't care and pound to a penny, it will be the seller who gets the blame !

Congratulations Obey - you are crashing and burning, one mistake after another, time to admit the error of your ways.... LOL

But they are not being accepted … see several postings confirming non acceptance of packages at Post Office outlets.

At the moment, the Post Office outlets are not working with eBay.  They will not be dictated to as eBay have been with us.

I have limited patience for this. Ok for the first few days it is expected, but any business like that should have their finger on the pulse.

I have a post office near me who have asked me to overpay on stamps to save them time using make up value stamps for me. I don’t go back there.

There is another who told me a max size letter is large letter. I don’t go back there.

I understand people may only have 1 post office to go to but eventually a customer needs to tell them to get their act together and look into it instead of walking out with their rejected parcels.

They will not go anywhere in the Royal Mail system with under paid labels.
