PAYMENTS ON HOLD

Hello community. So why would  eBay put peoples payments on hold . I would understand if there was something wrong but I couldn't do anymore than I have done already. Now I can't ship any items and have 5 buyers who I had to message to tell them I can't ship anything so dispatch is now late , 1  buyer wanted a refund . It's ironic how eBay do this and end up ruining peoples experience and also making me look bad as buyers want their items . And shocking communication , takes up to 5 working days but I'm sill waiting 5 days and 6th day tomorrow. No contact from them or any request for any credentials . Shocking!

@jahbarty is no longer a registered seller. It appears ebay has ended the account. They didn't grasp that buyers are not responsible for holds on payments and can reasonably expect what they've paid for to be delivered in good time.

But why should we be expect to send an item when eBay is holding our money? I don't blame him for closing selling account in that case.

He didn't close the account ebay did, because he didn't send out the items he had sold. This will also effect any ebay account registered at his address. 

While there is a hold on payments ebay still expects sellers to post sold items. Like it or not this is ebay's site and we have to play by their rules. @jahbarty found out what happens when a seller doesn't.

So did he get banned for cancelling the order? Or did ge get banned because he didn't cancel the orders but and didn't send either?

Be careful here, you'll end up with 5 defects against your selling account, which will result in an indefinite ban, and any linked accounts (same household or shared devices) will also receive bans.

How do you know that 5 defects equal a ban on selling? What is enough for a ban on selling is up to eBay to determine, not random members of the forum.

Also they were wise to not send the items out - if you don't have the funds to buy the postage, how are you supposed to send items out? As far as I know, couriers won't give their services for free. And what guarantees you that eBay will actually release the held funds?

Which means you will lose money and you might as well take all of your items and throw them straight into the landfill bin, or donate them to charity. Both of those results in a net income of zero, whereas if you send out items before they are paid for (definition: the funds have reached your bank account) then you are in the minus.

It's not entirely clear what he did from the way he worded his posts. He certainly wasn't posting and appeared to be waiting for funds to clear.

You're receiving next day payments while @tranceenthusiast  has a hold on payments, it's not the same circumstances. The OP had the same problem, failed to post and is no longer a registered seller.

I see, I cancelled the order and refunded the buyer. My short eBay sales journey is over. 

eBay wake up! Nobody wants funds on hold.

I don't understand why eBay does this, I'm a good seller and now I'm done. I'm seeing a pattern most people left selling on here either have not yet been hit with payments on hold scam (let's face it, it is a scam by eBay to hold our money). Or you are experienced sellers with ancient accounts and were never subject to such utter tripe. ☺️

I do understand why ops account was shut if he failed to refund before cancelling orders. But on some level I can see why. It's his item he owns it. And the funds are sat in eBay's account so..!

Actually . stopped selling my items . Is that not allowed . I’m having a
much better experience on Vinted . Worst thing I ever done was join eBay .

Firstly Sorry you have to experience this for no reason probably… that’s
the only apology you’d get , even on here, most of them rant on about
eBay’s T&Cs like they’re on the pay roll . Folk come on here to get advice
not a lecture on how to obey eBay’s rules….. You would think they would ask
for everything to verify things before you can buy , list and sell anything
but they want your money asap obviously, it’s funny how you can open an
account and buy corrosive substances and weapons without any checks.
releasing the funds well ,That’s also a lie, it don’t matter if you have it
sent special delivery with one of their parcel link labels , you still will
have to wait 2 weeks at least . Even though the buyer receives item and is
completely 100% happy it won’t matter . remove all your listings and cancel
any orders , they will still expect you to list , sell and post items. Even
if you can’t , then act like it’s the sellers fault as the account is
restricted lol, they won’t consider your situation or care for anything you
have to say , even if you have all the relevant documents and can supply
anything they might need all positive reviews and no reason . They are like
scammers . Just put the phone down when they get your money and won’t
communicate, they literally told me they couldn’t tell me why and hung up
, I did think I singed up to scam site? I thinks it’s crazy and
irresponsible how they put the buyers at risk . I have all their home
addresses could easily contact them or even visit them if I become unstable
. Although it’s best not to get stressed in situations like this
technically I do own the funds or the property I sold. At anytime anyone
could have their account suspended so good luck selling on ebay. The fees
are a joke anyway . I’d never want to sell on there again even if they
give me £1000. All the best I hope you get it sorted

Hi sorry about that wish I could help more but Send it at your own risk . I
sent twos items on sat after they told me it was back to normal ( my
account) and payouts would resume. Shortly after adding tracking the
suspended my account lol. So another lie to get money . Buyers was both
happy though 😉 eBay not happy . Thankfully they were low value items but
who knows when I will get the funds . Could be 180 days . I wouldn’t advise
selling anything on eBay unless you have more money than sense . All the
best.
