One of the happiest days of my life ......

This morning I sold my last item of stock on ebay. After 21 years and over 12,000 feedbacks I'm done with it.

In the early days I was grateful for the exposure it gave for me but over the years my views have turned to despising their business model.  At one time I felt ebay cared about sellers but over the past 5-10 years, sellers come a poor third .... 1st ebay, 2nd buyers, 3rd and last , ...sellers.

The number of extra charges levied by ebay make ebay no longer a viable commercial option for me and this must be the same for many ebayers who see ebay and Royal Mail making more margin than themselves.

Only ebay could decide to take a fee on a sellers cost which includes postage. Why should I pay Royal Mail £3.25 and then be taxed by ebay when I make no margin on this element of the sale proceeds?   Greed.

ebay used to have a bit of a monopoly but

not any more ...competition is heating up so I guess they want to now make more money on lower turnover.  More bad news for sellers but of course without sellers there can be no buyers.

Think on that.  Yesterday I sold £95 of items on Facebook Marketplace with no fees and cash on collection.

I sold my last item on ebay this morning ..... A small sale of £3.49. After posting at £1.55 and various ebay fees

I made £0.80.    Time to go ...... Wish I could say it was great but it wasn't.

May I wish all you sellers on ebay the very best of luck.  I suspect you are going to need it.

so have started to put things up but eyeing up other places to sell. Already on D and V.
