Sold an item from an offer made, no mention of the item being viewed through a promotion on the offer, which previously eBay stated whether it was viewed from a promotion. Accepted offer and order showed item sold with no promotion fees. Today order now showing item as sold under promotion, I will no longer be accepting offers on items as this seems very underhand of eBay to let you know after the event that the offer was from a promotion.

I've never understood or agreed with ebay's promoted listing system as it seems very opaque and of dubious value as such I have never used it and have still found my ebay listings sell at a steady rate.
Rather than stopping accepting offers would it be better to relist your remaining items with promotions switched off to avoid the unwanted fee in future? You may need to use 'sell similar' to get a clean break from the Item ID tracking?
I've lost track if they would still charge you to relist with best offer button enabled but I never use it as I feel it undermines the possibility of a full price sale and buyers can still message me with offers if they are really bothered.

Thanks for that, makes sense and updated. TBH I’m beginning to think it’s not worth the effort anymore. Only sold one item in past few weeks, used to average one a day before changes. I get the feeling small private sellers aren’t part of the master plan.

I think ebay want private sellers just they also want other things that are in conflict with buyers and sellers being incentivised enough to stay.
I don't know if this is the only platform you use but some of your items look well suited to another platform. Since the SD announcement I signed up to that place and have been taking a view on all my new listings which platform they would sell better at.
I've even re-listed a few items there that have sold at slightly higher prices than they were stagnating here for months with no interest. I'm running low on listings there so will move another batch of listings off ebay soon. Once SD becomes mandatory for my account I'll sort out everything I still have listed here to ensure it's on the right platform and if it stays here has the right weight and dimensions entered.
I'm not going to list the same item on both platforms concurrently as I don't think it's right, it's too hard to track without making mistakes and I'm not looking to get inundated with orders I'm happy with my current sales rate.
