Just tried to list an item. Can't put free postage option. It's simple delivery or nothing. They're just making this even more complicated now.

That post was made in march
things are very different now…there aren’t advanced options anymore
if you’re lucky your listing, if exempt from simple delivery ****will default to custom postage options
It all depends on what you’re selling and if the system is working properly without glitches, for that category
**** exempt for
-items under 100g that are £10 and under and that fit into an envelope or LL and in certain categories see list below
- Over 20kg or over medium size parcel
- over £750
-restricted items (not sure what these are)
lastly, if your item is exempt but custom postage isn’t appearing you can use this workaround

I don’t know if they will change the rules, I’m just another poster
Not sure what you mean by you can’t charge £3.46
for jigsaws eBay under their new rules for private sellers will charge the buyer (or seller if they chose free postage) £3.38 for tracked 48 RM postage for small parcel 0-2kg
or £3.64 for medium size parcel 0-1kg
if your jigsaws are 1-2kg medium parcel they will cost £5.15
you have the choice what size and weight to put on the listing
but for example if eBay recommend a 1kg small parcel and your item is actually bigger then you won’t have to pay more , just use the label they give you
either way simple delivery is cheaper or the same as buying the post from RM direct or going to the post office to buy it
you don’t lose out anything except if you pay for your packaging

How do I use Royal Mail special delivery to send jewellery instead of simple delivery

Thank you for that workaround, it save me a few times but things have changed AGAIN?
Right now I'm not able to use anything else than "simple delivery" and I'm not able to edit the price.
So if I'm selling a bicycle rim that's worth £30 and I can whether I choose "medium parcel" or "bulky parcel" eBay does NOT allow me to edit the price of £12-14 which is quite high for a lightweight package (2-3kg) that is not even that bulky (65x65cm ad less than 10cm thickness) that can go with a budget Evri courier for £5.50.
Why, WHY on earth does eBay keep on giving us grief? It's all becoming so complicated that private sellers are going to steer away and eBay will become some sort of AliExpress.
As much as I appreciate they want to keep consistency in the P&P fees charged to customers, they need to understand that things work BOTH ways, making the private seller's life harder and harder and charging "protection fees" to the buyers is not the way to go. I think they could enforce returns only when there is real foul play from the sellers, and make them responsible for paying the returns.

Thank you, this is a followup of the workaround for larger items that now can be used for editing the postage cost?
Unfortunately this does require a few more steps: as said in the post above, one needs to select a high selling price like £800 to activate the option for postage editing, and that works fine, postage cost gets edited and the item is listed with our chosen postage cost. The item now needs revising with the original selling price, BUT as soon as I type the price a notification "postage options updated" appears and guess what? You're back to square one!
The solution to this is to make the final edit, to give the correct selling price, via the App. It works, although is quite a faff and I cannot imagine myself doing this if I have many listings as such.
Again, unnecessary complications from eBay, but thanks for suggesting the workaround.

You have to ensure that the size and weight are over what the latest maximums are for DHL.
It is about time ebay got this whole debacle sorted!

I have 69x69x9 cm, certainly not massive and widely accepted by all couriers....

Make it 121 by 81 by 81 even when it actually isn't.

You are missing the point - irrespective of what your actual weights and measurements are, ( forget them as they have no relevance), you put them above ( and leave them at that) what ebays courier selections can carry to access your own choices of courier.
