I sold an item on freepost but to my horror ebay deducted £2.70 from my balance for a label I didn't use because it only needed to be £1.55 for L letter so I bought the correct label from RM & sent item with that. To make matters worse I only got paid 2.49 for the item. I filled in a refund form in July (within 14 days) but still haven't received refund. (I used the form someone posted on here)
To stop this happening again I have changed all my items from freepost & just charge post on top so I can now buy correct label when an item sells.
Is this a sneaky way that ebay is making money from unused postage labels because a lot of sellers must be having the same problem?

They are breaking the law because they are charging for a service that you couldn't use maybe due to the wrong size being selected for SD postage which is easy to do because ebay have deliberately made it confusing

Had no success with it at all, even after being told the funds for the unused labels would be available with 24 hours. Have given up with it now and like the poster above just mark it down as a fee for not using eBay's label.

Trading standards need to know about this or ebay is a US company so threten them with a BBB complaint that should galvanise them into action

Back in the summer I had an unused label after getting an order for multiple items, and I made a claim to get it refunded. A month later, having received no notifications at all from ebay, I sent an email to CS and managed to get the refund. Then around 90 days after the original order, another seemingly automated refund was paid to my account. Thus I was actually refunded twice, which suggests to me the SD refund debacle may be a case of ebay incompetence rather than full-on deceit.

I have posted 2nd parcel via Royal Mail website costing £7.05
The buyer is in comms with me, once the parcel arrives, we will speak
----
eBay finally contacted me about the postage, I explained this was their error in the combined postage, I received
'Thank you for your reply.
Yes, that is no problem, please just let me know the cost to post and I will get this refunded back to you.
Thank you for looking after your buyer'
I look forward to hearing from you!
Warmest regards,
eBay's Customer Service Team

I responded with the above Royal Mail information including tracking and so far no response.
Reading some of your responses to my post, I really don' know the answer apart from their going to have to do a rethink on how they operate as clearly failing sellers
Thank you

I already sold my 1st item on the site V after SD on ebay was wrong & buyer cancelled my order. V have a similar postage system but it works much better not grossly overcharging people

After 6 phone calls to agents who clearly cannot advise and submitting 3 forms for refund, the simple postage system fails.
Outcome for this sale is, communication with the buyer who paid the 2nd postage even when I offered to pay for eBays mistake
I do not offer free postage especially on medium / large items
I prefer to have control of the postage and can cancel if i choose.
