Do other private sellers find this new Ebay seller policy a bad joke.
Firstly you are advised to send items by tracked postage which costs more.
Secondly you have to wait until a item is delivered and have to wait 2 extra days to access your funds.
Once a item is posted or collected it is out of a sellers hands but they have to wait up to possibly 5 days to access their funds while ebay get interest on all the money that they hold from sellers.
This policy needs changing as it penalises sellers like me who have been on ebay for 19 years.

Have a look at the many, long and very lively discussions on this subject , on these boards and join in.

You've actually got some of that wrong. Private sellers possibly have to wait 14 days to receive their funds, not just 5.
There are actually 2 cases in the threads now where private sellers say they have proof of delivery and customer feedback but eBay are giving them extended dates for payout.
& as soon as Simple Delivery rolls in its more mandate than advisory regarding tracked postage.
Loads of threads about all this already here. Have a read and as you guess, lots don't like it.

Click on "Learn more" and what do you get? Old text telling you how payment goes directly into your bank account, so WELL out of date. Usual joined-up eBay.

Thanks for replying.
I do not intend to buy a printer just to sell on ebay though.
Royal Mail collection works fine for me.

Hi.
Thanks for your message.
Hopefully ebay will listen to fed up private sellers.

Printing tickets is just one side of Simple Delivery. Another side, depending on what you sell, could be far worse.
From the start it looked like a bot or similar will be deciding the weights of listed items and offering buyers choice of postage based off those decisions. This came up early, scared jewellery sellers wanting confirmation and to the best of my knowledge eBay haven't said anything about it since. So anyone that deals in fragile items that need to pack certain ways could be up s**t creek, as the buyer decides how you send it from the options eBay give them.
I sell Warhammer models, they can be tiny, weigh virtually nothing but because of their dimensions I have to use small parcel size and then have to pack so they survive sorting/transit with other boxes that can weigh upto 2kg each.
So eBay and the buyer decide I have to use large letter, I send it, the model gets obliterated in transit. Customer claims a refund, gets it. Best I get back is an obliterated model. So start off with net worth end up with nothing.

Mmmmm! I wish! 🤗 😐

That just shows ebay don't really care about a lot of sellers.
I sell a lot of Signed CD's from my collection and because of the extra protection I also have to send them as large envelopes.
I have no intention of using Simply Delivery or ebays AI.
I believe in freedom of choice.

Basically ebay have gone from "don't post your item until you're paid" to "post your item now and maybe you'll get paid in around 14 days"...
They are insane if they think i'm doing that.

At the moment wishing is all we can do until ebay sees sense.

Lack of thought is lack of care, so I agree with you.
To me it looks like the "big thinkers" have got so caught up in the big picture that they've lost sight of the small pieces that make it.
Another side issue with Simple Delivery if it works as above is that combined orders are gone now. A perfectly viable way for buyers to save money on postage, destroyed.
They deserve a standing ovation for this roll out and to be parodied by SNL.

I absolutely agree. Plus I'm not buying a printer just to sell on ebay.

You have a computer i other device you receive emails on yes.
You will get a QR code you then take to the post office or evri drop off point, they then give you a label.

Makes me wonder who and how qualified are the ebay policy makers .
When ebay lose a noticeable amount of private sellers they might rethink their poor attempt at global domination and poor efforts of greed.

Just don't forget assorted power cables, generator in case they don't have an available power socket, mobile router so you can get a signal etc, etc.
& don't forget to tell the shocked counter assistant that this if for eBay's "SIMPLE" delivery.
10-02-2025 11:52 AM
Nope.
I use my mobile phone that sends and receives emails, makes calls, and has Internet access.
As a private seller I have no intention of buying a computer or printer just to sell on ebay.

A noticeable amount on top of the ones they blocked from the app last week with the update. 2 or 3 threads here of users, buyers and sellers that can't access the app anymore. People are guessing thousands based on what we can see but when Galaxy S8 and similar are being mentioned I think 6 figures are far more likely.
10-02-2025 11:59 AM
Well no doubt it's imminent that I'll lose access to the app for posting a common sense post like many others have that's a complaint that they don't like.

'So eBay and the buyer decide I have to use large letter, I send it, the model gets obliterated in transit. Customer claims a refund, gets it. Best I get back is an obliterated model. So start off with net worth end up with nothing.'

This is something ebay are going to have to be very clear about, and soon!
Ebay have said 'once a seller, using Simple Delivery, hands their parcel over to the courier ,*ebay* now have responsibilty for it'. i.e. they will pay any non-delivered refunds , not the buyer.
So far so good.
What about items (like yours) that may arrive damaged in the post?
We need to know if they're coughing up for that as well.
(and they really *have* to. No company can dictate which service type and packaging you use, then make *you* pay because you did as you were forced to...surely?)
If ebay are paying for postal damages, this opens the 'restriced list' can of worms ....
Which categories are not going to be forced into Simple Del, because the courier companies won't pay compo for postal damage on those items..
I'm hopping with curiosity to find out about this aspect!!
