Effective February 2025, ebay will hold private sellers funds for 14 days if the order is posted with an un-tracked delivery service (such as Royal Mail 2nd Class).
I think it's a brilliant idea if they want private sellers to leave the platform in their masses.

Anyone know what happens if buyer cancels order and I agree, it’s not a problem , but do eBay refund them out of my cleared funds and still take 14 days to send me the funds the buyer just paid as obviously there will be no tracked delivery , I hope makes sense .

It should only take two days then for the funds to go back to you. I had to cancel an order and refunded from the clear funds and I had money back into the balance two days after

Thanks ,just wondered if it was going to be another convenient eBay wheeze to cling on to your cash .

totally. EB are making millions on interest of our cash by withholding funds

Their greed is really out of control now:

Every time I sell an item MY funds are kept on hold, even a week later with CONFIRMED tracking delivery.
eBay seller for 11 years with 900+ positive feedback.
This is just eBay holding funds to cream off the interest. Imagine the 100's of millions of sales where payments are held, huge.

Looks like you have returned to selling after a long break? Sudden selling activity raises red flags to eBay as it could be a sign of a hacked account.
You may have initial longer payouts on the first few items sold, as eBay wish to see several safely received by buyers, this showing the original seller has returned to sell on this account. It's a very good security system, I'm certainly answering fewer questions on the forum re hacked accounts.
Once eBay can see you are sending out items promptly and they are received, then tracking showing delivery will release a payout 2 days after that delivery date. No tracking? The payout is held for 14 days.

I dont quite get the requirement to hold funds on GSP items, they claim "to ensure its delivered" - well, with their new Simple Delivery and GSP, they state that if anything goes missing then THEY cover it with their atronomical fees / insured postage and charges and buyer protection. So why can they hold my money, in their bank, gaining interest for 10-20 days?

if there is no proof of delivery the seller loses out
if the buyer receives an item via normal post with no tracking and then they claim item not received they get a full refund, seller loses out
Seller has to rely on the buyers honesty, I think 99% of buyers are honest with the 1% who take advantage on claiming for item not received when received

Seems this isn’t just private sellers, I was a business seller of 23 years perfect standing. No account issues , without notice or warning eBay automatic payments to my bank stopped, I didn’t realise at first but then I saw the eBay balance was over £1k and payments hadn’t been sent for 4 days. I spent an hour trying to get to the bottom of it with their ‘support’ who could only answer ‘your money is safe it’s in iur account’ hmmmm. It’s my money and it should be in my account, thanks. So I had no option but to cancel 45 orders that I hadn’t been paid for, which eBay had been paid for. Customers are not happy but what can I do ? Its basically theft on eBay’s part as far as I am concerned., as well as a total waste of my time and the buyers time. My actual opinion - given eBay could offer no reason - either they’ve been hacked and trying to keep a lid on it, or its AI automation and it’s a glitch, either way they should be honest and say so.

Who's going to hack an account to start selling on Ebay?
Isn't it possible that the risk of getting your account hacked is far greater if there's already £1,000 or more in cleared funds just sitting there waiting to be withdrawn?

I'm no fan of eBay or their recent changes but this sounds like absolute nonsense to me.
