AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I have just checked one of my listings on my private account which is under £10. I cannot find for the life of me where to check or even input the weight of this item.

True.
The buying experience appears to have gone downhill sharpish, most of the listings I view these days the sellers have presumably been using the AI generation button when creating the listing. Everything is generic nonsense and in most cases described entirely wrong.

'I rang them this morning about the threshold for low value items. Apparently it is under £10 and with a weight under 100g. Hope this helps.'

I wouldn't believe a word CS say at the moment... They're very 'imaginative' at the best of times and this is far from the best of times.
I'd wait for an actual announcement.

It appears for me right at the bottom, in the simple delivery section I selected 21kg+ and then it wouldnt allow me to use simple delivery.
This is via pc, might be different on mobile etc

Ah, I don't have Simple Delivery (yet) in my listings I have used the advanced option to use Royal Mail and charge a large letter price. Whilst it is set up as that there is absolutely nowhere to put in the weight!

They've started off a chain reaction that even they don't know what the outcome will end up being. The only thing that looks like happening is that things are heading on a downward slope.

I have used the QR code they sent me when having to make a return. Two different times the code was not accepted at my Post Office. It wouldn't work and we had no idea.

Not only (possibly) higher fees, but likely less sales as well. I haven't bought anything on eBay for some time - in fact, since the weekly chat failed to provide any info about enforced SD. It was just the last straw after held funds and BPF.
I will list very little on here now, and I will only buy if I can't get the item anywhere else.
I have been with eBay since 2000, first as a buyer/private seller, then as a business seller for 6 years, and finally, back to being a private seller after retirement. I'm just glad that most of our clutter has gone - though there are still quite a few boxes in the loft to sort.
I started off loving eBay in the early 2000s, for all those things I found that I have wanted for years and never been able to find.
Then I was thankful for the opportunity to have a self employed income in the 6 years before my state pension started (WASPI), but at the same time started to get a bit fed up with changes, changes, changes often not for the better.
Now I loathe them so much. The changes, the glitches (which they never admit to), the idiotic ideas, they way they treat everyone (private and business sellers). Vile, just vile.

I love your post and what you've said is so true. I've been on ebay 19 years and I used to love it to buy and sell things on. Now I loathe it because of the policy changes that are compulsory. In the next few days I am removing the last few items that are listed. I have stopped listing things as auction. SD becoming compulsory is the last straw for me as a private seller and I now only buy things on ebay if I can't find them elsewhere. It's so sad that what was a great platform is now ruined.

I am quitting selling as of right now

Someone on here in this forum mentioned preloved as worth looking at.
I'll be done as a private seller in a few days.

I've seen big book sellers using AI and that just seems so wrong. AI descriptions are airy-fairy, lack comprehension, and are about as much use as a dodo lecturing on survival techniques.

Cheers Rubyguy I will check it out .

I've never used AI as a private seller on ebay and thankfully in a few days I would have removed the few listings that I still have. I don't want to end up going the same way as a dodo.

That's ok. Hope you like it. I did.

And get low star ratings and neg feedback

That's what i expected they have done it a day early because people might think it's a joke. Well Ebay are the biggest joke ever, well done you are now outed

eBay will make SO MUCH money from SD, that they won't need to recoup anything from elsewhere.
Presuming that they have struck good deals with RM and Evri, they will make well over £1.00 EXTRA from every single transaction on a private account after 15th April. That amounts to millions of pounds every month. They are not going to lose enough business to outweigh that benefit.

Because they want rid of us, instead of just saying so they thought it would be fun to watch people's panic and confusion while they gradually took us down

I know they'll be expecting a backlash but I really hope it's bigger than they anticipated because they have ruined what was a great platform.
