AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Its difficult on thread like this sometimes to see beyond your view point and I have to be honest I don't normally use these forums. But the more you listen an look into this the more ridiculous Ebay's approach becomes .
Offering "Simple Delivery" as an option is not bad idea in itself especially if you are not familiar with posting items etc, but if you have been doing it for over 22 years , and in my opinion I don't think I have ever been managing my postage etc so effectively , forcing the simple delivery process on me is act of ignorant vandalism.
I think Ebay have massively underestimated the impact of this and over rated how good " Simple Delivery" is . However given most of them probably have little experience on selling on the platform themselves they fooled themselves in its real value .
To me some of the most cynical changes have been the delay in payment , buyer protection and removing selling fees. I haven't been selling much recently but when I noticed other sellers relisted items going up in price due to buyer protection then it makes things more expensive for buyers and less return for sellers . In hindsight getting rid of selling fees has created a new bigger problem . I would rather be paying seller fees as in terms of accounting in terms potential TAX implications its a tangible cost , the same cannot be applied to "buyer protection" costs !
Given long term buyers and sellers underpin Ebay as a platform and its basic ethos and Ebay are making these changes because they possibly threatened by the like of Vinted they are putting their platform at risk and possible creating an opportunity for the like of Ebid to grow as a result .
For someone who has always bought and sold to fund their hobby , Ebay has been an almost unique platform . I am expect many use Ebay for a similar reason and simply can't alienate core customers in this fashion . They have devalued their USP
I might return to Ebay sometime but I not desperate to sell at present and perhaps Ebid deserves a chance now

I have told 1 of mine that she is never to retire and that I would protest with a sandwich board outside the sorting office if she did, she thinks I’m joking 🤣🤣. They are both fantastic, can’t fault them and yet they have to deal with a load of rubbish in the process of doing their job, unfair

So I'm looking at all the complaints about this and as a private seller there is something else that I'm really concerned about.
I've been selling on ebay since 2009 and in many cases my buyer's don't add to basket for multiple items and purchase altogether, but purchase one at a time. For example just last week one lady bought 10 items from me but paid separately for each item, these are tiny 12th scale dolls house items and this easily fit into a large letter that I posted for £2.70 48 hr tracked...now ebay will generate a label for each purchase costing £27 to post, as I offer free p&p I just can't risk this happening as once a label has been generated it cannot be cancelled.
Plus if someone places an order worth less that £20 I post it for £1.55 fully insured by royal mail, now the lowest cost is £2.70, so where is the discount???
I honestly don't know what they're thinking...goodbye ebay, Etsy will now benefit entirely from my online sales

I would be very interested in seeing how you are doing if you didn’t mind, heading that way myself and am in the process of checking out all the possible ‘red tape’

I used to be a postie years ago but after knowing how much grief they get nowadays it is unfair because it's upper management that causes their problems. Now doesn't that sound familiar.

If you look at question 2 on their first FAQ the discounted price is available for "if upgrade takes place within 24 hours of registration OR any other upgrade" not that I have tried it myself.

They are doing an offer if you join in a certain time

I'd be interested in knowing too.

Unless you message her and say because of the changes can she put the items in her basket and buy all at once which would save her a lot.

A good time to try getting unhappy users from here.

Me too !
I am adding this as first pic on listings.....
Ebay couldn't care, they don't need me,or anyone else it seems.
Since this all kicked off in Feb,hardly going to miss the odd sale, and at least raising the middle finger in the upright position to them makes me feel better ftw
In other news, has anyone else noticed that their lead time is now being reduced, mine from 5 to 3 working days,or is it just me ? Nice of them to let me know ,which of course they won't.
And anyone else been told they qualify for an ebay loan ? Super, what a generous offer to charge me for borrowing my own money back, that I'm forced to loan them for free .
It only gets better....

Hmmm a loan to help with all the additional costs and fees which like you've said will come out of your pocket. Do they really think users on here are that naive

Sounds very familiar to me, I worked in the NHS, same re the management, there were, probably still are too many of them not doing anything constructive 😂

Maybe some of them have associations with this platform 🤔 .

The Sun have already picked it up

We need Martin Lewis to pick this up.

I'll be moving my listings to collection only, probably won't sell anything but they'll sit there for free while I move/expand my selling to other platforms. Used to really like eBay as easy to sell but they have gradually ruined it, such a shame.

I absolutely agree with your post. Enforcing so many things on sellers and buyers is wrong on all levels. Giving another platform a try sounds a good idea. I can't see any major changes happening here for the foreseeable future. Greed is definitely the underlying reason but we can all wish for a return to the ebay of old.

They have ruined this platform. Oh for a return to when this platform was free from so many enforcements and was actually a great platform.
