NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Ebay don't have to be this way, they make money, we make money. You don't keep shafting your customer base because you can, to make more and more money because you're as greedy as all get out.

I hope and believe a huge backlash from private sellers and buyers who helped eBay get to where they are will shock them because they underestimated how good the private sellers and buyers have been for them.

I tried ebid with coins last year at the same time I opened an ebay account doing the same at similar cost. I listed 125 items on ebid, but after 9 months, no sales or enquiries at all, but plenty of business on ebay. I don't think the traffic is there.

Can a private seller offer free postage but sort their own method of delivery out?

I agree. They are going to add Simple Delivery to all existing listings from the 7th April so will be ending all of my listings before then

I'm ending the last of my listings on the 6th and that's me done as a seller.

I'm not sure about this, so far I have seen some indication that if a private seller selects free postage using simple delivery, if the item sells they may have to buy the postage from ebay, who then emails the postage label.  I'd be surprised if ebay lets a private seller escape the clutches of their simple delivery regime as they make money every time someone buys postage through them.

Hopefully we'll get some clarification on this and not find out the hard way as ebay charge more for most sizes/weights of package if we have to buy postage from them.

No. There’ll only be eBay labels, either ‘buyer pays’ or ‘seller pays’.

There will apparently be an option for listing that will say ‘free delivery’ but the money for the label will be taken out of the seller’s payout, no option to buy your own postage elsewhere.

Do they honestly believe that their sweetener offer of automatic feedback being left after 7 days is so wonderful due to SD especially as most private sellers now realise that feedback counts for nothing nowadays.

I've sold some cricket items unknowingly to people who knew my late father or knew of him. The same with the Wodehouse items. It was a lovely feeling to know that some of the items were staying together, and going to people who knew him. And now...well, everyone loses out. Me, my buyers, and yes, you Ebay.

I had a photo of a warship the bow end and people on it and the man that bought it said his grandad might have been one of them, another person was really excited about a hotel in Java where he had stayed. One lady was so excited about an old doll she wrote me a letter, there are so many stories private sellers could tell. This is a great loss to online sales

I feel the same about selling items from my personal collection of Signed CD's. It was a good feeling knowing they were going to buyers who would have appreciated buying them. But all good things come to a end eventually I guess.

Hopefully in the near future a real UK platform will start up for private sellers and buyers like us. We can but hope.
