AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

"Royal mail are putting prices up too probably to make up for the deal they have done with ebay ."
Yes the prices are going up tomorrow (Monday 7th). I wonder whether ebay will put the Simple Delivery prices up too.

It may well end up being a battle of wills and hopefully us on the common sense and genuine side won't just lay down and surrender. Luckily as a private seller who also buys (well I did) pressure from us will help. I know business sellers may think differently but even they are noticing a decline in sales so we can only hope.

Ohhh now wouldn't that create even more of a reaction.

I've still got stuff to go that my mum gave me to sell when she was alive and stuff she left behind when she died last year. Whatever I sell of her stuff goes into the kids Junior ISAs as that was her wish. It's not urgent to sell any of this stuff as my house is big enough to have a spare room for it but now I am playing elsewhere I'll have to start calling it 'the marketplace room' not 'the ebay room'.

Parcels and 1st class letter deliveries are not effected. The propose changes are -
Standard bulk business letters will follow the new three-day delivery schedule. Saturday deliveries for non-first-class letters will stop. First-class mail and parcel deliveries remain unchanged across the UK, continuing six and seven days a week respectively.

This forum does have its lighter moments that make me laugh, and your post was definitely one of them so thanks for that! 😁

I do hope it works out in a good way for you. At least I've got a lot more things to do with my time like look at as many other options that are out there. And as hardly spending very little time browsing that's given me time to look on the threads on the forum to keep a eye on what's happening.

I thought it was a great post too and it did make me chuckle.

That's a good idea with the Junior ISAs. Anything I sold went into a probate account which will be divided up at some point between the 4 of us.
Unfortunately I'm being 'chucked' out of the family home so everything has to go.

Well you can't be blamed at looking at as many other places that could be useful for you. Plus market place room has a good ring to it.

It's a battle of wills. Private sellers and buyers with the common sense against those that are changing things because of greed. Wouldn't it be a great time for private sellers/buyers to get our heads together with small business sellers. Now that could possibly be a great combination to increase the pressure by a notch.

I'm glad you liked it. Lightness and laughter are so important. I've noticed how there is a stark contrast between the people who are deadly serious about everything and those who have the ability to be light. The trick is to never let the doom merchants get you down, because there is always something to smile about........ even if sometimes you have to look harder.
One thing that has become apparent since I stopped buying and selling on here is how much lighter I felt inside. I saw somebody said they stopped and felt a sense of relief. It is like a burden lifted. Because basically we are being chipped away at gradually by eBay and it has become really obvious since they ramped their oppressive changes up in quick succession. If they'd done things over a longer period, they might have got away with it, but obviously greed has been the motivator to try to grab everything all at once.
I would imagine they thought we would feel so overwhelmed as they steamrollered us and we'd all just be too confused to resist. Oh, how they underestimate us! But instead, many of us stopped all activity on the platform* and simply poured treacle down and watched the steamroller getting stuck and revving its engine. Summer is coming, so I plan to eat ice cream and watch the sticky situation unfold from a safe distance. That sounds fun.
(*except the forum. Hehe.)

I've gained my sense of humour back and did say earlier that I felt a great sense of relief when I removed my listings 😄. I will give this platform one thumbs up and that is a thank you for giving me the reality check that I needed.

Yes, I had a feeling it was you who said about the sense of relief. But with the volume of posts I read every day at the moment, it's hard to be sure who said what.
I thoroughly agree with you about the reality check. When I stopped selling, I decided to have a look and see how much I made in the last year. It was so low that I was honestly embarrassed that I'd put so much effort in for so little reward. And then to think, eBay wanted more and more from my efforts! I don't think so.
Thanks for the wake up call eBay. Since stopping, my life has opened up in ways I would never have imagined. I've no idea what I'm going to do with my "unwanted items", but I have much more interesting things to be doing than sitting at the computer........ (just the internet addiction to deal with now!)

I'm putting some of my new found spare time to use like looking at all other possible options and some of it is going into watching the new soap called "seller central forums" 😂. Plus thinking of things like what a great time for sellers/buyers to get talking to smaller business sellers. Now that could be a good move.

Its so true. It's the first time I have ever suspended all my listings in protest and it feels great and such a relief to have them off my back and feeling impacted by all the endless double speak announcements and frustrations and incremental pressures they put on everyone to enrich themselves.
Now there's that relaxing feeling of 'it's really not my problem anymore' as i have checked out they can no longer interfere in my life or order me about telling me their stupid ideas are mandatory on my eligible listings which they are going to fiddle with and break. They forget there are other places for most stuff and people can simply vote with their feet. I've been enjoying learning about and now trying other places,

.... just like they've got away with so much for so long. It's the "boiling frog syndrome", which AI describes as "a metaphor, often used to illustrate how people can fail to react to or be aware of slowly worsening situations, ultimately leading to a catastrophic outcome." It wasn't until the catastrophic introduction of Simple Delivery that it dawned on me how many small incremental changes there have been in recent time, which have in fact have rendered the site very different from the one I enjoyed until, oh maybe the last couple of years, not sure when.
(I quite like the "camel's nose" analagy as well 😁 )

So true. The sense of relief and reality check at the same time and actually thinking I don't care how far down the slippery slope this place goes.

It's all so true. Not realising that for a long time this platform has got worse and worse.
