AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Your "list at your own risk" sums up eBay in a nutshell.

Just tried a test listing of a postcard and the postage costs is showing to £2.74 for letter / large letter??? Nothing showing for anything up to 100gms???????

I admit that until Feb this year I loved this platform. I didn't always agree with all their policy changes but went along with them. But their recent unscrupulous and draconian changes have made this a nightmare. No respect for the buyers/sellers who helped get them to where they are. More policy changes at minimum notice. Things like SD, BPF, and holding sellers money are a farce. Yes buyers/sellers have done well out of it but we're sure paying for it now because of utter greed.

Hi. When i sell something I get it collected from royal mail. So will this be stopped and I will have to go to a post office?

How many of them were yours?
400?
😝

I was just experimenting, probably be giving up as well.

Hey that's a bit harsh. I am still entitled to post my views and reply to some excellent posts.

Just listed a book and the estimated delivery time says, Standard delivery Mon - Wed 7th, Express delivery Wed 7th!
That can't be right? unless I'm missing something?

They'll have sellers posting stuff before someone's bought it next.
Guff AI will work out who the buyer might be.
Naturally the seller would be expected to take all the risk as that's only fair.

I'm sure it's because they are changing the parameters of SD day by day and as they make it up as they go along it's all over the place at the moment. So poorly thought out.

As I've posted elsewhere multiple elements of SD look like traps.
The delivery dates being quoted alongside the sellers supposed maximum 3 day turnaround definitely is.
Being able to deselect Royal Mail definitely is. They are the only courier with full UK coverage.
So that's essentially postcode discrimination.
The labels look like they could be too.
As eBay are selling the buyer the postage that becomes a contractual term of sale.
So if we use a different label to what they provide we are making them breach their contract.
Doesn't matter if their label is wrong. If they don't correct it our only legally safe option is to cancel the order.
They used to punish our accounts for late delivery etc when they weren't liable.
What do you think they can do when they are?

You can still have it collected. You just have to go through the Royal Mail site to arrange a collection.
Collection step 1 - Your items - Royal Mail Click & Drop | Send an item - Click. Save. We Collect

Same for me: should be called Complicated Delivery. Only used Royal Mail, no other options. Was simple: booked a collection with "Bring My Label". Now you need a smartphone for QR code: don't use this. Now you need a printer: extra costs. And no compensation for tape, bubble wrap etc. Been on live chat. makes no difference, you can't opt out.

The worst punishment would be ebay putting us in a room to read out all their future stupid policies.
Eventually our brains would boggle-up.

I get the joke, but no, that isn't the worst they can do.
If we make them liable for claims they probably can sue us.
& unfortunately they have a rather large funding source to pay for lawyers. Otherwise known as our money they haven't paid us yet.

Very true. I used to do the same as you. Plus now if there any problems you have to deal with Obey and their bots and not RM directly.

If ebay have told buyers an unrealistic delivery date that's basically on them for misrepresenting what might be physically or reasonably possible. Ebay haven't backed that off by contracting private sellers to drop everything to do an immediate dispatch (although many of us have tended to) so I don't see how they could hold private sellers liable.
I've worked with a lot of expensive lawyers and in the end the facts of a situation still carry a lot of weight. If you have done nothing wrong and someone else has caused a problem then it's going to be hard for them to pin it on you.

I'm also seriously considering leaving eBay too, but not sure where else to sell? I don't want to go to vented. Who/what is evident that you mentioned please? Tia
