NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I am talking about simple delivery postage costs. Not meaning custom postage.

If a buyer doesn’t like your postage costs or fails to appreciate the extra
costs ( do you know how much a Jiffy bag costs?) and the item is a really
low cost item then can either negotiate or not buy . It’s a free world.

That's the problem. On a large letter 100g item, it is £1.55. The tracked equivalent is £2.75.

Granted, the Tracked 48 Large Letter is up to 1kg instead of up to 100g for the stamp. However, a small, low value item that is going large letter is likely to not weigh that much, and even the 250g price bracket will be less than £2.75. This will put off buyers.

At least on the other platform that has this type of delivery system, they allow pick up from either an InPost Locker or an Evri Parcelshop and the price for delivery to a collection point starts from £2.29 (fully tracked), not £2.70 or £2.75... that other site also allows the buyer to choose their delivery provider from the options the seller has enabled, unlike here where it only says "standard tracked delivery" and neither buyer (doesn't state courier, not even at checkout) nor seller (just given a label from one of two options) have any say in the delivery choice!

What a mess up!!

Since 2003 I have only ever had one person query my postage costs. I have
only ever used 48 hours tracked. Then everyone knows where the parcel is.
The one query I explained why I had put a £1 on to cover the Jiffy bag on a
£3 item. They paid it and left positive feedback.

EBay does have the option of delivery to an Evri parcel shop, starting at £2,26.

InPost isn't currently an option but it would be good if it could be added at some point as they would then at least have the 3 biggest carrier networks in the UK covered.

The whole Selling And Buying experience on this UK platform is a complete wreck.

In fact it's no longer a experience it's more of a nightmare.

I was the same when I was selling. I always used RM 48hr Tracked because of the items that I sold. I hardly ever had any buyers complain about the postage i used because I dealt with RM directly and always paid for my postage online.

But another important point regarding fraud is the amount of overseas sellers listing items as a UK sellers.

Before all these ridiculous changes that have been introduced there were never a huge amount of issues regarding combined orders and deliveries.

I'd hate to be selling on here as it is now. It must be awful for sellers that have used ebay for years and awful for newbie sellers too.

In fact I've brought 4 different things from the US in the last 2 weeks and apart from things taking longer to arrive I've saved between £80-£100 even after paying VAT and shipping compared to what the cost would be if I brought on the UK platform.

No wonder a lot of sellers here are noticing a drop in Sales.

Unless you can see the data on eBays system you cant say if there was a big issue or not, only 5% of orders are combined so I imagine it wont be a big percentage or orders but even if 10% of combined order are issues then it really needs looking into, especially is eBay are self insuring. They honestly dont care about jimmy or Sarah being frauded but if they are then obviously they act quick.

Agree about Chinese and others using addresses that arent theirs, but thats got nothing to do with SD, thats just another issue like businesses on private sellers.

As a user of 20 years who sold and brought things i had never experienced the problems that I knew SD would cause me.

When selling and I could choose my postage options I could easily combine items and never had issues with buyers.

I guess it's a matter of what items are being sold.

But it's a complete wreck here now.

Sorry but its really not a complete wreck now, like I said 5% of sales are combined so 95% are not. There is no way that 90% of those dont fit perfectly within SD and have no issues, the custom postage can be tweaked for a few minor categories but again this full thread is just people complaining about issues that are not really issues just changes (to make sure sellers dont pay full fees bpf is a sales fee but not a full fee).

If eBay said ok you can have custom postage on everything but you need to pay 12% fee's would you be happier with that?

I'm sorry but I disagree.

This thread doesn't just contain users that complain about issues that aren't really issues.

Like I've said in the past, SD is just not fit for the use of many users.

I sold for years and had no issues with dealing with RM directly.

I used their doorstep collection. They brought the label and collected from my house.

My items were sent using LL and RM 48hr Tracked. The cost was great. Buyers never complained that's why my feedback remained at 100%.

I will never use Evri.

So SD has definitely caused me issues.

Personally I would totally disagree with you since the introduction of Simple delivery its not only a wreck its a Total Disaster and why should a seller have to tweak custom postage. Why should anyone have to jump through hoops to appease eBay Why try to fix something that was not broken ? I always shipped by Royal mail 48 hr tracked service never had a problem in 16 yrs and it was straight forward to arrange collection from Royal Mail they brought the label and collected my parcel and i never had any complaints from customers, also  added to the Simple delivery that eBay rammed down everyone's throats they didn't stop there they changed dispatch times, added  buyer protection fees  & added also incorrect postage costs and also made sellers wait for their  funds  all while eBay made interest on those funds.

In response to your question would anyone  be willing to resell on here if they had to pay a 12 percent fee for being able to sell  ? My personal response would be...... YES provided that all policies were reversed  prior to  the Simple Delivery implementation abomination

Providing that  they reverse those policies    I "May" consider selling items in the future.

As for now definitely No and that includes  Not making any purchases off their website

I think you  need to do more research, as its is very difficult to find any positive feedback about SD anywhere .

Its odd that most people who seem to advocate SD really don't seem to have buyer or seller profiles that suggest they are regular sellers or even buyer    .   Its almost if they have a vested interest in SD as a project 🙂

The fundamental problem with SD and everything that goes with it , it is totally unsuitable for Ebay as a long established market place , and its  niche for on-line auctions across a very wide range of categories

It is genuinely doomed 🙂

Many posters here use a ' Posting ID' not their account ID where they do their buying and selling.

Some peeps have in the past not liking / agreeing with an answer given, have gone back bought items from said poster who's using their selling ID,  and trashed their account with negative feedback.

Hence the safety cover of a Posting ID 🤗

Maybe in the past i can understand posters using a different ID when making posts but with the control the platform has over sellers and posters then if a genuine post was made then people shouldn't need different ID's.

Plus users of the forum especially private sellers would never know if it was a business seller posting.

As someone who was a big advocate of the platform there are so many things that are stopping me from selling, starting with Simple Delivery that is the main reason.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Since my temporary return to eBay I have sold 8 items, for all of which SD has "selected" Evri.

Three times I've had to visit two separate parcel shops to dispatch the item; once due to the printer not working in the shop, a second because the scanner wasn't working and a third because the shop had "too many parcels" and wouldn't accept any more. As I said a few days ago, when the items have finally been dispatched they have got to where they are going quite quickly.

But since I posted that another item flagged up as "delivered to the parcel shop". Two hours later it was "delayed due to bad weather " (in the parcel shop?!) and three working days later it finally delivered.

So four out of eight have had some kind of issue!

Apart from that it's the attitude of eBay. At the expense of drifting off topic, I've just bought an item.. I selected payment from my bank account, but it overrode me and used my eBay balance! It's the same kind of attitude as forcing SD on people and ignoring the complaints, the exodus of sellers etc. etc.

I'm not just "complaining about change" btw; it's just what used to be a pleasure is now little short of a nightmare.

You have just highlighted a huge issue that I have with SD.

Evri will never be a postal option for me. Neither will having to pay more to send something using the postal option that would have been my choice.

The facts are that after 6 months of being implemented fully, SD is still a work in progress and that is just 1 huge reason why it should be optional across all categories.

Secondly, because I chose the best and fairest postal option for the items I sold my feedback remained at 100%.

Some buyers would choose to buy 2 or even 3 items as I used to do auctions that ended on different days.

All i did was create a invoice to send them for more than 1 item and combine the total.

I never had any issues and ebay made their money from my seller fees.

That was so much more simple than the poorly named Simple Delivery.

At the moment though it isn’t for sellers like me - reading all the posts on here you’d be forgiven for thinking simple delivery was the work of the devil.
Believe it or not until recently I was a simple delivery resister. By giving it a go I’ve had my eyes opened a little and my favourable comments are based on real experience. For what it’s worth too, I’ve not noticed any delay in receiving the money for my sales or transferring it from my account into my bank account.
I hate to say it but the impression I’m getting is that some posters on here are now commenting and arguing just for the sake of it on things they nothing about - how can they when several haven’t even tried to list anything since SD came about.
As I’ve said before I’m not trying to say SD is problem free for everyone but for me it’s so far been fine and I’ve noticed no difference in the amount of views and sales from those I had in previous times. That said eBay has lost out in profit from my clothing sales as I now list all those with its main competitor.
