AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

It's hard to calculate figures. However yesterday someone on here told me that business sellers were saying their sales have dropped on the business boards. I know there are a lot of private sellers that are suspending their listings on here but are watching to see how things pan out. But a lot are looking elsewhere. Plus I'm sure people are buying less because there simply aren't as many sellers selling at the moment.

I'll be trying it out at that price.

I only suspended my listings earlier today and I'm already getting messages from potential buyers asking if there is any way they could still buy my stuff. I'd love to get rid of it but I'm firmly on strike from both buying and selling things now so my standard response is:
"Hi sorry but I suspended my items from selling today due to the total mess ebay are currently making of Simple Delivery as they are overcharging buyers for postage and forcing postage labels on sellers with the wrong dimensions and weights that are getting rejected at the post office and might cause buyers to pay surcharges. I've got 100% positive feedback over 24 years and don't want to risk it for ebay total incompetence and greed. I'm seriously considering moving to another platform as ebay are treating buyers and sellers so badly right now."

They can still buy your stuff as you’re still allowed to use custom postage
after the 7-15th April we don’t know how things will be exactly

That is so good and very true. I do hope something happens to change this mess but no doubt the powers that be will drag this out for as long as possible to gain the supremacy they want or unless something happens to make them back track.

Some people are saying that the postage is being changed on what they are selling now so it's too risky for me no way i'm selling on here when we haven't a clue what will happen next

They seriously must be making this up as they go along and have no idea themselves from one day to the next.

Sure but I am on strike now because I don't want to give ebay a penny more of my money in any form of fees as a buyer or seller. So I'm even refusing sales where I could still use the old postage methods. That's how I feel about ebay right now. I am so disappointed by them on so many levels.

I have been looking closely at listing I would normal go through , most private sales seem to be stagnant as buyer protection is pushing the starting price to high.
The only things that are getting bids in the same price range are business sellers as they are generally at least £1 cheaper
Given Ebay dropped private selling fees last autumn , I think buyer protection fees is causing private sales to plummet. It is also liability as it simply a way of charging selling fees while pretending they are not and has virtually nothing to do with buyer protection
I think Ebay Uk are already in a state of panic as their strategic plan for private sellers has failed and their "Free to sell" ad campaign has not bought in any new revenue and they can't just go back to charging selling fees without major loss of face . I haven't seen that ad for a few days but then I have probably been on this post too much !
On the other hand they could postpone of cancel SD quite easily on the basis existing software issues without looking too stupid ! Which would get more sellers back on board , they would be mad not to 🙂

I think they will have to make a big big gesture and make it policy to try gaining trust back from sellers and buyers.

Same here last time i bought something was 27/12/24. Business sellers are losing out this affects everyone nothing to be happy about, they get rid of us they lose the majority of buyers from business
03-04-2025 10:46 PM
And that won't go down well with business sellers.

It’s about £139 for lifetime platinum
where did you see £7.08
03-04-2025 10:48 PM
I paid £69.99 a few weeks ago and it is still advertised as that price now have just looked
03-04-2025 10:49 PM
I really hope you have some luck on there.

I do wonder if we are the crazy minority of ebayers thinking this way or if we are just the ones that care enough to be telling ebay via this forum what is going on in the minds of the majority of their buyers and sellers in the hope that they will understand, repent and improve.
03-04-2025 10:53 PM
Totally understand
