AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Going on from my post 8333, the customer has bid cancelled, ( totally my fault), but looking at the cancellation, the postage is saying " economy £4.49", that's now 3 different postage types/prices. 1 my original, 2 of them ebays doing. Why change the change, see this screenshot!

Its all totally crazy at the moment. I think the whole site is having a meltdown.
When I knew that SD would be coming and what it entailed, I wrote down in a book everything that I had listed, the price I was selling it for and the price of the p&p. In the last couple of days, about two dozen of my 'Good Till Cancelled' listings have gone over to SD. When I have managed to get CD back by doing the workaround, it comes up with a CD p&p but on a couple of occasions, that was not my previous p&p price.
I wrote down it all down in the book in case when SD came in and ebay hopefully realised what a mistake its been, it might revert back again plus the fact that I keep most of my listed items in the attic and I don't want to have to keep going up and down the ladders at my age just so that ebay can have the weight and measurements.

3.99 and 4.79 aren’t eBay SD postage prices that I can see
3.38 is (on your original pic see also it says postage 3.38 but above it it says save 2.82 by collecting in person )
it must be gremlins in the system
🤷🏼♀️

Exactly! There's no leeway. It's fixed to such an extent that good customer care can hardly come into it anymore.

That does sound better, I have to admit.

'Its all totally crazy at the moment. I think the whole site is having a meltdown.'
I kind of wish it would - then maybe they would put it all back to the way it used to be.
Right now, it's like Norbot from Wallace & Gromit has taken over... 🤣

Total sham Ebay has become, its like we are being told what to do as we were all in the wrong.

Yeah eBay has made it all neat and tidy

Well as I’ve already stated. My listings are all Collection in person until eBay gets their muck together and the dust has settled down because I shan’t be going into this minefield. I just don’t see the point in even attempting to adapt when it’s not yet finished with all the kinks ironed out. It’s a real *bleep* up isn’t it.
It was fine the way it was before. There was no reason for eBay to fix what was not broken.
Based on these posts. I’m glad that I am not posting anything now, as it sounds like a head ache.
Is the postage rates discrepancy true? Like how are eBay addressing this problem? (I’m guessing not at all) How are the postal services handling it all and the dispatch offices?
Sounds like such a shambles. Surely, it can’t go on like this because of all the money that must be lost in these *bleep* ups with the rate prices. Do the post offices charge the buyer or seller or both for the missing funds to make up the correct amount, regarding the simple delivery label being incorrect ?
I am kinda struggling to fully comprehend the situation at hand here. Sorry, just am that’s all.
It sounds so confusing and strange that it been allowed to get this bad that’s all.
So who gonna cop for it, that’s what I’m wondering ?

'Total sham Ebay has become, its like we are being told what to do as we were all in the wrong.'
Yes, unfortunately they have been slowly but surely removing freedom of choice & flexibility from the site, meaning we have fewer options to make our own decisions about selling/posting/dealing with buyers etc.
Since the BPF & Simple Delivery, my listings feel like they don't really belong to me anymore.

£3.99 was the postage that I put, I think the £2.82 they have put there for collection is minus the VAT on the £3.38 they charge for postage label.

"Since the BPF & Simple Delivery, my listings feel like they don't really belong to me anymore."
Sums it up completely.

I thought the first photo you put up originally showed 3.38 ? On the left of the screen in your post 8333 (trust that to be weird your post number having similar numbers to the postage 🧟♂️)
on the right there it showed 3.99
anyway thoroughly confused now so I’ll leave it as I’m not helping

Ooh, you'll never guess, I just relisted 4 items, Fabric, were on custom postage, the big blue banner came up, now SD. I scrolled down to where they said small parcel, I changed it to LL up to 1kg, (they would go in envelope), and it switched me back to custom!! All 4 of them, not that I'm complaining, So now confused even more. More to do later, see if it carries on.

I also noticed that on books category / books
if it’s under a tenner and a large letter package size custom comes up
it wasn’t like that a few weeks ago
sadly comics and magazines sub category still have the straight jacket of SD
09-08-2025 10:02 PM
They wouldn't know how to list an item!

Edwardian-dreams - thank you for the heads up on the books

I thought I'd try listing a small item to see if I could send it Custom Delivery, but no, it had to be SD so not happening. But I noticed that if I'd selected Buyer pays postage, the cost would be £2.72, but if I clicked Seller pays postage, the cost would be £3.46. I must have missed why the Seller pays more than the Buyer, can anyone explain?

That's bonkers. There's no reason for the postage to be different depending on who's paying.
Is the item around the £100 mark, above it with freepost but below without it?
