NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Yeah the amateurs currently running ebay don't have the right depth of understanding of what's really happening on the platform which combined with their perverse commercial interests cause their email communications to land very poorly but I'm practiced in just deleting their suggestions but you have to be careful you don't miss their latest draconian and ill-conceived policy changes.

This platform and our friends from over the ocean really just don't get it.

I've heard today that inflation has gone up to its highest level in 18 months which means the Cost Of Living will definitely increase.

This platform really needs to use some common sense here because if private sellers are faced with choosing between the Cost Of Living rising or contributing to this platforms greed then this platform will well and truly lose every single time.

Do you think if the economy declines then more items will appear on here for sale and at cheaper prices

Personally no.

If I was selling on here at the moment contributing to this platforms greed would be the last thing on my mind.

As a ex private seller I was never profit minded. I was just happy to try and get back what I paid for items.

Dealing with the Cost Of Living increasing would be my main priority.

No, but more will appear elsewhere.

I would love this platform to revert back to how things were last year and a few years previous to that which honestly seems such a long time ago.

More private sellers selling and things being sold for more appealing prices rather than sellers trying to do the best they can because of SD being more expensive and less convenient for a lot of sellers. Buyers are now wise to the BPF farce which effects private sellers. Having to pay to promote a listing just so it's possibly seen amongst the cheap foreign tat being sold here now.

This platform WAS great to sell and buy on but now because pure greed has taken over this platform is absolutely diabolical as it is today. It's about time they start realising that they've got things very wrong.

It's about time they start realising that they've got things very wrong - unless the revenues stop rolling in I'm afraid that's not going to happen.

Royal mail are still struggling financially due to competition ,if they installed the printing machines in post offices like the ones EVRI have in their drop off shops it would make life so much easiar ,our post office in our WH Smiths is still behind the times and some of the staff can be quite officious and since SD has been introduced the people using the PO have dissapeared and the sacks in the Evri drop off shop have been full every day and the staff in there are fantastic really friendly and helpful  . The sacks get emptied once a day usually lunch time and all the parcels I have sent with Evri have arrived in 2 days usually very rarely longer .

I noticed since simple delivery, a lot of my listings where I offered free delivery now are saying buyer pays so I decided to try and bulk edit the listings to offer free delivery but ebay have put a stop to that now.

You can no longer bulk edit your postage options meaning a simple task is now going to take hours.

So much for it being called Simple Delivery.

They should rename it Akward Delivery.

At first I thought RM were crazy to get involved with what this platform are doing regarding SD.

But they obviously got wind of it becoming mandatory on here and it would have given the competition even more of a advantage otherwise.

My gripe isn't with RM because they have been great for me.

It's the platform as it is now that is my big gripe.

I've experienced enough issues with evri regarding deliveries made to my home. I would never use them to send anything. I have no trust in them just as I have no trust in the platform.

Hopefully if someone actually sees through the short term figures making things look good they'll realise that the platform isn't on a upward climb and they'll still continue to lose private sellers.

Reputation fairness right thing etc doesn’t matter to them  it seems because they own a large chunk of “the market”

well it’s not all about the bottom line that’s old hat capitalist thinking which is on its way out though will take a while

Imho

The large chunk of the market they own is definitely shrinking gradually. Especially here with other sites growing in users. I've already got the next platform I'm going to use, lined up for when I move on from here.

I'm not going to move on yet though because I don't have the need to sell at present.

What is happening here will come back to haunt them eventually and I think a lot of people will have the pleasure in saying, we did tell you.

I agree with that, both buying and selling.  RM has, for me, has a 100% perfect delivery rate, they've never lost or damaged a single item.

Evri, on the other hand, has delivered to me several damaged items and left several on my doorstep in full view.  Has left parcels with neighbours in a bock of flats without leaving a card to say which one.   All I got was tracking updates to say "Delivered"  (but where?).

I now have no trust in ebay to actually show my listings to anyone.  The fact that I don't sell much but almost every item I listed got 6 Watchers, no more, no less, leads me to believe that they are dealers who "Follow" me but are not interested in buying anything unless they can get for a knock-down price.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I have just received the following email from eBay:

We’ve made some improvements to Buyer Protection to better support your sales. Starting today, we’re reducing the buyer fee to make your lower-priced items more appealing to buyers. From 6 Aug, you’ll also receive your funds within 24 hours of the buyer paying.

Get your funds faster

You’ve told us that it’s important to know you’ll be paid shortly after a buyer places an order, and we’ve listened. Starting from 6 Aug, you’ll receive your funds in your eBay balance within 24 hours of the buyer paying. This will automatically apply for orders completed after 6 Aug, so there’s nothing you need to do.

Learn more about getting paid

How Buyer Protection works

Buyer Protection helps maintain a safe marketplace with risk monitoring, fraud detection, 24/7 customer support, and secure transactions for all purchases.

We’ve now reduced the fixed portion of the Buyer Protection fee from £0.75 to £0.10. Buyers still pay the fee and it’s included in the item price, so there are no surprises at checkout. Here’s how it’s calculated:

  • A flat fee of £0.10 per item

  • 7% of the item price up to £20

  • 4% of any portion of the item price from £20 to £300

  • 2% of any portion of the item price from £300 to £4,000

  • No fee for the portion of the item price over £4,000

When your buyer purchases multiple identical items in the same order, they only pay the flat fee once.

A live calculator is coming soon, where you’ll be able to enter a price and see the Buyer Protection fee in real-time, so you’ll know exactly what your buyers will pay. When making or reviewing offers, you’ll also see the fee split out from the total item price.

>From today, you’ll be able to see the updated rates on your listings, and will notice the greatest impact on items priced £10 or less. If you have any active auctions and offers, they’ll continue to include the existing rates.

Learn more about the fee

A reminder about Simple Delivery

You may have heard that we recently introduced Simple Delivery, an easier and more secure delivery solution. As a reminder, from 6 Aug, any eligible live listings that aren’t yet using Simple Delivery will switch to this delivery option. In some cases, you may see a change to the courier you selected when listing your item. If you have a preference between Royal Mail and Evri, you can set your preferred courier in your Postage Preferences. There may also be cases where the cost of postage varies from what was initially shown. You can find out more about the rates on our Simple Delivery page.

So what do we all think about this?

Good news on the funds though I don't see why the fees should be so much higher for lower priced items. But, oh dear ebay, you're just making things worse for yourself the more you enforce Simple Delivery. 6th August will now be the date I stop selling so improved payout times won't make any difference to me 🙄
