AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Thank you for what you said earlier.
It is a nightmare of a storm here at present.
I know there is always a small element of people that like to rock the boat no matter where people are and the annoying thing is that some people like to rock the boat even if it's somewhere not really relevant to them.
I just hope the help and info given to people here carries on for as long as possible.
It is still relevant and useful.

Can anyone answer why eBay is generating and charging for Royal Mail pre-paid labels for a German buyer when I explicitly have the listing set up as Free Delivery/Evri only courier.
Buyer says it's not giving them an option and the RM label is wholly inaccurate as it's a job lot.

I replied to your thread in early april and pulled all my listings the same as you did before the 15th april. I have been with ebay for 25 years and could not cope with the Simple delivery system (as they wish to call it) Myself, I am a private seller and sell a lot of Clothing of my own and Family. I totally agree with you that I will not be back to ebay for a long while until they get a better system going.
I wish there was someone there that could understand some problems that us older folk have with it. One, I cannot do the printing of the labels. 2, I send only by Royal Mail & tracked delivery and 3, I do not have a fancy phone to scan things with (its an age thing). I would rather take my parcels to the post office & get them weighed & get a receipt for the posting.
There. all said for now. not as though ebay care about the people who have supported them pretty much from the beginning.
Glad you started and have kept with this thread and maybe one day all of us Private Sellers may be able to return.
And Pigs will fly.

I mentioned on a different thread that the Reply button had defaulted to "Accept as Solution" and I had to then Unaccept. This is what I'm seeing on that thread (the "Untrue Statements?" thread in Seller Central):
That "Accept as Solution" button doesn't appear on any of the other threads that I've looked at. And I definitely didn't click it, I tried 3 times to Reply but each time it "Accepted as Solution" instead.
Has anyone else seen that "Accept as Solution" button next to the Reply button? Is it something they're testing?

As i use my phone i see the Accept as Solution button directly above the reply button.
It's a bit naughty of them because it is so close it is easy to catch that button by mistake.

Hello and yes I remember.
I only use my phone which is only a medium spec phone.
I'm glad you liked the thread. I really hope it's allowed to carry on at least until this platform actually gets it act together.
Sellers can still highlight so many ongoing issues that aren't resolved yet even after 3 months.
When SD pretty much became the only postal option it took away my choice to use RM and their bring a label service directly.
I agree that pigs might sprout wings before sense is seen here.
But as a (ex) private seller i will not use SD and will not pay more for less so no selling by me for a long time.

You'll see 'Accept as solution' if you are the owner (original poster) of the thread.
Not sure why it defaults to that when you are merely posting a reply.
Maybe Ebay is testing cutting you out of your own discussion? That sounds like the next 'simple' thing they may try.

I was forced to use Evri as a courier who i have i have had many past issues with i flat out stopped using them, i had DPD set up for next day mainly so i can get the item delivered quickly. However ebay decided to change it to evri. So i had to drive to a parcelshop far from my home, posted it and then the courier decided to attempt delivery 3 days later and on a weekend when the customer was not as it was a business. so one week later its finally delivered and an unhappy buyer and i am still waiting to be paid. Thats simple delivery for you, a complete waste of everyone's time and causing anger to anyone forced to use it. Sort it out ebay, one of the dumbest rules imposed so far

I to have had issues with evri regarding deliveries to my home.
I would never use them to send something.
As for the SD being enforced joke which is not funny that is why for now and definitely for the foreseeable future I am a (ex) private seller.

Love your post.
I wouldn't put any unethical scheme past this platform.
Thank god my phone screen size is fairly decent because the Accept As Solution button really couldn't be any closer to the reply button.

Wow. I really wish I could give you a common sense answer to what they are doing. Absolutely nothing Simple about that situation.
I hope you manage to get things sorted with them.

eBay talk about promoting listings, but yesterday I had an email from eBay saying:
Let’s improve your listings
The following listings aren't performing well – but you can change that. We've curated recommendations designed specifically to improve the chances of selling the items below
A couple of the items were only listed 2 days ago - collectables are niche items that have to wait for the right person to come along and want them.
eBay's suggestions were:
Add more photos - but it's a flat item with just a front and back!
Offer free postage - I charge the minimum possible, it's not going to make much difference.
Reduce dispatch time - I post within 2 days, actually usually the next working day, can't do better than that!
Offer returns - why? if a collector wants it they'll buy it, if they don't want it they won't!
It just shows eBay's lack of understanding about the collectable market (and probably many others).

Since your posts in April I have not listed one item because of the SD farce.
I regularly create dummy listings just to see if selling on here is getting any closer to becoming viable again.
If anything it is getting further and further away from being viable for me.
I would have been able to retire now if it werent for the age increase.
But in the meantime I do think I'll be able to retire before this platform actually sorts itself out.
I just have a morbid interest now in watching to see what this platform actually wants to morph into.

I agree with all you've said.
This platform has totally lost the plot regarding UK private sellers. I keep getting notifications trying to encourage me to sell.
As things are now, Hell will freeze over before I sell again.
If I need to sell again it won't be here unless some big steps backward are taken.
The "its free to sell" heading should have in slightly smaller writing underneath saying "subject to costs and charges of our choice being applied".

Could be wrong but it could be a place Evri don't deliver too
Combined shipping just doesn't work at the min, the last last combined label here came out as £1.90 for a parcel that weighted nearly 3kg!
15-07-2025 12:34 PM
To be honest is hardly anything working here at the moment ?.
Especially for private sellers and some small business sellers.
15-07-2025 12:57 PM
lol that's a good question, if you sell items individually then its ok and custom post seems to be popping up here and there but other than that...
Biggest prob at the min is figuring out how to get label refunds, have tried everything at the min and just cant get it to work
15-07-2025 1:14 PM
I've shipped to Germany before and the only part I'm responsible for is having it sent to the Global Shipping Centre. Where the parcel goes after that shouldn't make a difference.

Here you go try this below, and perhaps use a laptop / PC and Chrome that combo seems to work best. Things are limited on the app and mobile browser.
If you paid for the label, that is , you have Seller Pays for Postage on listings, then do not use that SD label, find and cancel your label from the link below, this has to be done within 14 days.

That is typical of things here at the moment.
Yes we get told certain things can be done if you are selling.
The burning question is "BUT HOW ?".
With no easy information unless you go on a search mission. Plus A.i doesn't really help because at present it's totally confused by the very regular constant changes to things.
Maybe a Christmas Present from the platform this year to UK sellers will be things set in stone.
We can but hope.
