NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

It's interesting that Ebay is allowing this. You'd think if sellers are using their own postage they would be made to wait for their funds, at least until delivery has been confirmed? It seems to suggest that SD will be pretty universal soon. It's getting harder to find those opt outs.

and without any notification that the Ts and Cs have changed, nor an audit trail showing he change and the date/time it happened.

This would appear to me, to be the behaviour of a company that senior management no longer believe they are accountable to anyone.

At some point there will be a legal case about this, until then their behaviour is unfettered.

Yes, it's bad enough that the postage can change between an item being listed for sale and selling, but the terms of Ebay's contract with its 'employees' (ok, sellers and buyers) means they're expected to keep abreast of any developments and changes as and when they arrive. That's with or more typically without any official announcement.

Like people didn't have actual jobs and paid work to do during the day?

About a dozen or so of my Good Till Cancelled listings have been changed to SD.

When I go to end those listings it want's a reason, as I cannot put SD, I'm not sure if I should put 'Item No Longer For Sale' or 'Error In The Listing' but then its not my error and as far as I'm concerned it is available for sale.

I would say that as the listing has been altered without your consent and is no longer as you originally wrote it, there most definitely is an error in the listing.

If ebay took it upon themselves to change the size, price or colour of the item, would you accept that ?

It isn't as you wrote it, it is no longer your listing.

Stand up for yourself and dump it if you don't like.

No, I would not accept that but dump is a strong word for something that I have owned and treasured for over 40 years.

I shall keep it in my drafts list until ebay comes to its senses - hopefully.

Sorry, my previous post was badly worded.

I didn't mean 'dump' the item but dump the listing that is no longer yours.

But yes, keeping it in your drafts in the hope that ebay sees sense at some point is a better solution.

Have you tried 'sell similar' based on an item that still has custom postage?

You never know, it might work. Then you won't need to keep the old unsold SD listing.

I don't want to try 'sell similar' to have to start a fresh listing because of the bother of adding the photos and wording etc., but I have tried 'sell similar' and 'relist' on that listing and its the same.  The odd thing about it is that on the actual listing, because I have done the workaround on it, it states that  'SD is unavailable on this item'!!!

SD seems to be changing from one day to the next as well as from one user to the next.

Fairly soon we may start being charged to update listings anyway, which would probably include doing something like resetting the postage to custom after it's been automatically opted in to SD? 

I wonder if it may even have something to do with SD being made optional? As long as you pay for it, of course.

Ebay has ways of making you pay, either as a buyer or as a seller. Preferably both.

That's exactly what I've done. I've saved my listings, that still show
CUSTOM DELIVERY, and I use that saved listing for any future similar
listings.. Done it a couple of times lately, which appears to work for the
time being??

I've been busy clearing the house of both parent's collections, doing DIY, tidying up the garden, all for family house sale early next year, so I haven't had a chance to try anywhere else. There's a part of me that's lost enthusiasm for starting up again (thanks Ebay), so I'm packing some things for the charity shop.

I will have to change my moniker to "notclearingyshelves2026".

A buyer just bought 3 audio music cassettes and then requested a cancellation - on relisting, it was updated to Simple Delivery. What was £1.80 postage for a large letter on a £5 item is now £2.72, an instant hike of nearly a pound on an item that has been up for sale for years with no buyers anyway, how is that going to help it sell? At least I could package it securely using scrap iron to make up the pointless unused 1kg weight allowance if it does! So many of my past sales have come from being able to package things optimally, carefully weighing and measuring them to be able to offer a better deal.

Exactly. where are the Royal Mail, 1st and 2nd class postage price bands.
For Large Letter:- 100g, 250g and 500gm weights ???
