AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Oh you would think it should be closed.
MOST people on here help each other and find things out from others here because we're not given any information.
I also have more common sense and knowledge than you realise.
People on here are clever enough to know that nothing is truly free. Plus we all know this platform needs to and wants to make money.
The main thing is it's HOW THEY DO IT.
I'm not going to get involved in a disagreement with you because it's not worth my time or effort.
25-07-2025 7:19 PM
Not a camp you or I fall into that’s for sure.

Well maybe it's up to that person to find out, plus HMRC have access to enough things to get involved with the big money makers.

I only post now when I feel the need to make a comment to a post, or when things go on and on.
This thread has been useful and helpful to so many people.
I just want it to last until this platform finally morphs into what it wants to be and until SD which has been broken since day 1 is finally something that isn't amended every other day.

Maybe some sellers take note of a reply sent to them, and they do not want to get involved in a saga with someone that doesn't even know them.

Yes Rugbyguy, your thread has been and continues to be useful and good reading.
8126 messages must count for something.
Pangs of envy from some objectors is plain to see.

Thank you.
I try to ignore the objectors the best I can because as long as a decent majority of posts are useful and helpful and are on topic then I hope it is allowed to carry on especially as we don't get hardly any communication from the platform.
Maybe when the platform eventually sorts things out and this thread is no longer useful then that would be the time it might have run it's course.

I just don't believe in getting involved in differences of opinion that can end up going on and on.
Yes people are entitled to make a post and if that post needs to be replied to by a particular person then that should be it.
Not everyone will have the same opinion or view of things but as long as the thread keeps on track then it will continue to be useful.

Just catching up with the last few pages. Wow, the self-appointed forum police have had a busy day today, haven't they!
And I see the self-appointed arbiters of when a thread should be closed are here again as well, although I don't know why a business seller thinks they should have any say in what happens to a thread that serves private sellers, or even why they want to keep coming here at all when it clearly irks them.
If Simple Delivery continues, I don't see why the thread should be closed at all, but if ever it is, I hope rugbyguy1960 will set up another thread where private sellers can gather as a community to provide support to each other.

Ebay still have not addressed the problems that impact private sellers with SD, etc and that it is precisely why this thread is still open. To me Ebay was primarily an on-line bidding site and the experience that goes with it and not just an extension to someone's else shop , for "top" priced retail items.
P.S you don't need to post if you don't agree with the founding sentiment

Of course Ebay want to control their own platform, they are not a charity or community interest company which I think a lot of private sellers thought they were after being given free listings and no fees for so long.
We will have to agree to disagree. You have chosen not to sell because the platform has evolved but for many of us, private and business, we will continue to buy and sell. It's a choice and no different to any other platform. It has changed and you either go with it or you don't.
I really think that this thread should be closed now as everything that needs to be said has been said and it's just one endless circle of repetition.
Isn't it undeniable that ebay was a much better place to buy and sell when it was far less controlling, both were easier and more pleasant experiences and because of that there were more buyers, more private sellers and more sales for all ?
As for closing the thread. It shouldn't be closed yet because on every page there are still more private sellers posting for the first time to register their anger. The longer this thread gets, the clearer ebay might hear the message and I'm sure you wouldn't want to deny newcomers the chance to give their opinions and air their grievances. Even if it might make your view that the continuing discontent is mostly down to a tiny number of 'disruptors' stirring the pot might become untenable ?

Personally I believe the reason this thread is still available is for the powers that be, the analysts (whatever the job title is) is to gauge the ebb and flow of the disgruntlement, and the eventual acceptance.
There are various ways to set up a community support system, discord, reddit, fb but that wouldn't be in situ would it. And the initial outrage and commitment would soon peter out.
So we are still here because it suits eBay ..for now.

I don’t like it when people fight against each other when they’re supposed to be on the same side
all I got to say is if eBay gets their ducks in a row this wouldn’t be happening
so why aren’t they , what’s their weakness in a 7 month old saga
rhetorical question though but yes I do blame them for many of their own created problems
if I was top dog of a billion dollar company I’d be concerned but that’s me not them
have a lovely weekend all
lifes rich tapestry and all that

You are right.
As long as users can get information and help others then a thread like this is useful.
It should be allowed to carry on while this platform and SD is in such a mess.
I can count the number of posts that have said this thread should be closed on one hand.
People don't have to post on a thread if they don't like it. There are plenty of threads in the forums or they could even create their own thread.
I hope you have a good weekend and I think MOST of us hopes this platform sorts itself out soon.
25-07-2025 9:25 PM
Thank you so much.
Apart from the tiny minority this thread is like a community where private sellers can share experiences, bad or good.
A thread like this aimed at private sellers to allow them to help each other should be allowed to run at least until the platform and SD sorts itself out.
Plus like you said, new names are still joining daily.
25-07-2025 9:27 PM
Yes agreed.
25-07-2025 9:28 PM
I absolutely agree with your post.
I just made a post pretty much saying the same in a reply to someone who made a good post.
