AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

You hit the nail on the head.
I definitely don't believe what we are told on this platform anymore.
What totally convinced me was the announcement that these changes would benefit everyone.
Yeah right.

Unfortunately institutions like eBay bbc govt church and all the rest gaslight and talk to their people like they’re five years old and expect them to believe in fairies
just a power and money thing
but power rests with the people ultimately
Eta
i meant mostly what they say a five year old could figure out is bollox
ie
mummy “EBay says sd delivery is 20% cheaper and all sellers will be better off “
but it’s actually not
(this being before eBay came to senses and reduced its postage sd prices)

Absolutely.
What you said reminded me of the old tv programme Citizen Smith lol.
Oh I miss the days when selling was fun.
I gladly paid the small listing fee and if a item sold for more than i hoped to get i was happy to pay the final selling price fee.
Selling was fun then and things were transparent and fair.
At least then sellers could figure out a fair starting price that took seller fees into consideration.

Wonder what the idea was/is behind implementing SD
What was the reasoning behind it
12-07-2025 11:19 PM
I asked the same on another thread and why only for private sellers
it can’t be anything except money for eBay is the main reason
iirc the ceo admitted it himself ie new revenue stream
12-07-2025 11:19 PM
Because they can?
I predict a rebranding exercise next. AIBay? BayE? EBayB? "Hey guys let's change the order of the colors for each letter "
(without looking, I bet you don't know the order of the colors!)
There does seem to be a thing with big companies thinking that things have to change dramatically to get better. New CEO puts new stamp on things etc. Calls it X for example. "Look what I did when I was in charge"
On that note, I predict the 6 monthly results for 2025 will be the end of Eve Williams and they will probably replace her with Liz Truss. Brace yourselves!

If the lettuce becomes ceo everyone will leaf

No need to wonder. Iannone laid it out very clearly in his address to investors last year. SD makes a huge load of cash for ebay. You didn't really think it was for your benefit, did you. It's called Simple delivery for a reason, it makes a simple and very significant addition to ebay's revenues. Ebay gets a major kickback from RM and Evri, but to do that they need to make certain targets. Hence it can't be left to chance, it has to be forced on sellers.

She won't be here for long.

Very interesting. But for me, very alarming. My buyers are typically not interested in fast delivery and I set my dispatch time to up to 5 days. I'd be horrified if someone paid extra to get fast dispatch, and I'm sure I'd earn negs.
When I eventually get forced onto SD, is this kind of option going to be forced on me?
12-07-2025 11:26 PM
49 days max lol or then it’s wilting to total mouldy gunk
12-07-2025 11:28 PM
Ok money has got to be in there but their making less than if seller fees where still implemented but on the other hand they do hold your funds for longer
12-07-2025 11:38 PM
RM are pretty much bankrupt and Evri had to change their name due to their poor reputation. Wonder if they approached ebay first
12-07-2025 11:39 PM
Sd has 2/3 days max handling time..some people get 2 some 3 on listing
the estimated delivery dates would show buyer when they will get their item
but from what I’ve seen they show same dates for normal, and express delivery edds
Sorry can’t help here
12-07-2025 11:44 PM
They’re making more from low priced items charging 75p plus 4% than if those listings were fee paying
as for postage we don’t know what rates they’ve negotiated with rm and evri they could be really creaming it
12-07-2025 11:56 PM
Oooh. Maybe the Under New Management wish could happen.
The only downside is will it be a blessing or a curse.
12-07-2025 11:59 PM
It has to be another revenue stream for this platform.
It certainly isn't for the benefit of the platforms users.

Just thought I'd let you know that even more kudos have been left this evening by more names I've not seen before and they are very welcome to join in and post on this thread whenever they want to.

Do you think that the buyer protection fee and simple delivery have made the AYRAB mob happy?
13-07-2025 12:12 AM
BPF and SD are both farcical but if it makes the platform more money the platform won't care.
