NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

postage has now increased from 2.69 to to i think 3.35 for the same item because they removed yodel for royal mail how does this make sense unless ebay is getting a deal from royal mail 

my local drop off point has suggested royal mail are putting drop boxes throughout the country

I sell DVDS they are on the exempt list. 

It does come up with the SD if you want to use it but custom postage is there as well.

Mine have been relisted automatically and manually and they have stayed with the custom postage I have set. 

Yes as they are not tracked you have to wait 14 days for payment but most of the time feedback is left and as its under £10 the money is release in a couple of minutes after feedback.

For your information i didn't start this thread as a fruitless campaign. 

I started it as a Genuine Private Seller who sold things from my personal collection to make space for newer items.

I do not look at things from a business point of view because selling for a profit has never been my priority.

Private sellers are the people that business sellers rely on because a majority brought on this platform.

What makes you think DVDs are on the exempt list?   This is what ebay says on their web site:  "The option to opt out and select Custom postage instead will only be available for letter-sized items in the specific categories below that are priced £10 and under", so that shouldn't include DVDs because they are not letter sized.

I've tried listing a DVD just now and custom postage wasn't available, so I think you just haven't had SD applied to your DVD listings yet.  I've got some listings that had SD applied to them so I took them down, but I've got a few other listings which haven't yet had SD applied, although I dare say they will in due course.

I am just a private seller who spent a lot on this platform too.

Due to lack of communication on this platform a lot of private sellers have helped other private sellers.

For nearly 20 years I was a advocate of this platform now I despise it.

Eventually when sales start drying up here due to less private sellers buying it will hit a lot of business sellers.

Not all of them have your attitude thank god.

This platform is even struggling to imitate other platforms because they are making such a poor job of all these money grabbing changes made this year.

Great post and very true.

It's so easy for someone who is used to the cut throat world of business sellers who are driven by profit to not grasp the reality of genuine private sellers who sell bits and bobs to gain extra funds to buy things.

That was when this platform was great and Business sellers weren't interested in the world of private sellers.

Nowadays it's all just a huge mess here and definitely isn't getting any better.

I too am simply giving my opinion of my particular experiences. I have a lot of items that I would like to sell but they just don't fit with SD. I need to use my own postage options and not have them forced upon me. This is not a campaign, but business sellers need to realise that selling small collectibles doesn't fit the criteria of SD in a lot of cases. It just makes items far too expensive for the buyers.

Sorry Vinyl but this is another one of the times where I totally disagree with you.

How can you say Business sellers with private accounts do not have a advantage.

A business sellers main priority is profit making.

A lot of genuine private sellers are retired or can't work so they sell personal things to gain extra funds.

All these changes made this year are purely to squeeze every penny they can from private sellers who also brought.

A lot of genuine private sellers aren't and will never be business sellers or resellers. 

This platform was great before the greed mongers took over.

That's why I decided to stop selling and only buy here if I can't get what I want elswhere.

They are 2 different worlds.

I mainly sold signed cd's from my collection to make room to buy new ones as they were released. I also sold a few genuine silver coins from my collection to buy new ones.

If I got the money back that they cost me I was happy. Any extra was a bonus.

I dealt with RM direct and it was great.

Now with the SD mess and BPF farce and holding my money and suggesting I pay to promote a listing this platform is no longer viable from a selling or buying point of view.

I can't find the page with that exempt list - please could you give me the URL for that page.

If that page is still valid, I could take it up with Customer Service as to why I'm unable to list DVDs with custom postage.

Plus surely the weight with the protective packaging should allow you to choose custom postage.

It's all still a complete mess here and things still seem as clear as mud.

Which listings aren't required to use Simple Delivery?

click on the + sign and it shows a list.

You might be right that I haven't been switched over but when I list any of my other items it always comes up with a blue banner saying I've been switched to SD but it didn't on any of my DVD or Blu Rays (yesterday)

Oh come on Vinyl your better than that.

It's a combination of the mess called SD that's still being altered after 3 months. Combined with the BPF farce. Money being held for anything up to 14 days. Having to pay to promote listings so that they are seen amongst all the cheap tat being sold on here nowadays.

And very importantly no real communication from this platform.

These are things that affect genuine private sellers.

And very unlikely to affect Business sellers with private accounts as much.

I have been selling on EBay for twenty years. Why should I look elsewhere? I and thousands of other private sellers helped make EBay what it used to be, the number one selling platform. You as a  business seller seem to view Ebay as your own selling place.  Why should I after all these years need to find somewhere else to sell. I suggest you find  another platform and stop giving ridiculous advice. Business and private sellers are different. Get it.
