NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

'probably on evris non compensation list which Kat at eBay has said will be covered by eBay anyway'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yep, they're on the 'exclusion list' .

'Articles made wholly or largely of gold, silver or other precious metals'

Kat did indeed say stuff would be covered.

Before that she said stuff wouldn't be covered.

And ebay's T's and C's still tell you to read and abide by the carriers' terms....  the exclusion list is part of the carriers' terms.

I don't believe a word ebay *say*, if it's not in the T's and C's.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I agree, if you try and claim against the ts & cs because ‘a moderator on the forum said so’ the best you could hope for is a gesture of good will. And I don’t see a lot of that at the moment.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Everytime I get anywhere close to list anything on ebay I find that ebay introduces another stupid idea to put me off doing it.

I'm in winding down mode. I really hate ebay. It never was on our side but this has been made patently obvious in the last 6 months.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

The usual British thing to do is, if you're not happy, walk away and don't come back. We haven't got a reputation for complaining.

ebay was a useful outlet when we were being paid as soon as the buyer paid. Now that you have to wait two weeks to get paid you're not even offered the discounts to buy other stuff for having money in the account on tap.

What's ebay doing with that money in any case. Are they making money on the interest while they hold on to it for two weeks? What's the point of holding on to it when they are creaming all the Buyer Protection fees. Always found it useful that I could use that money to buy something that I needed or buy another collectors' item. Now I'm put off from buying. The increased postage costs from Simple Delivery also put me off buying. Plus the fact you could tell who the really good sellers were because they were really careful with keeping their postage costs low. It was one of the good indicators.

Before 'simple' delivery I used to have between 400 and 500 items listed on eBay regularly - most didn't sell but some did, between 20 and 30 items each month, and those that didn't sell got relisted anyway. After a period of removing all my listings I now have only a small number of collectable items for sale on eBay - those that are under 100g and under £10, and fit into a letter which I can post for 87p, and a couple of larger items where it's cheaper to post. Nothing is selling though and strangely very few views too - even I can't find them when I search for them! I am finding though that some items are selling on the 'boot sale' section of my bus map website (where everything else is also listed) so I just delete them from eBay when they do sell. eBay used to be a great place for collectables, niche items, oddities and cheap bargains, but no more sadly 😞

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

@johnwash1

I do hope so and that I've formed the wrong opinion of present day Brits. due to spending too much time on these boards where almost anything will be countenanced because "it's their site and their rules".

No matter how reprehensible the rules become, complaining or protesting against them is often portrayed as a fools errand or simply stirring-up trouble for the sake of it.  Any idea that world spanning organisations such as this should look beyond their bottom line and consider the wider implications of their actions and policies seen as hopeless naivety in the face of modern business practice.

And yes I agree with you, the few Canadians I've met have all been fine people and rather less inclined to "keep stum" than many of us in the UK when given a choice between doing what's right and what's most advantageous.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Just had 2 emails in the last 24hrs, one was "Happy 23rd Anniversary" & "The Benefits of Simple Delivery"

Well those messages fell on deaf ears right away! Straight in the deleted bin with them!

"well, erm why say it ? (That all evri items will be covered )"

Rather than ask "why say it" (at a guess, it's because it's what people want to hear and they think it will shut them up), I would ask the question "why not put it in the T&Cs".  The T&C's is the only statement that has legal weight, which is presumably why they're happy to say it on a forum but not put it in the T&Cs.

Ebay quietly change the T's & C's from time to time.  When you book be sure to get the version of the relevant page saved on archive.org, so you can produce evidence for your claim to CS.  And if necessary, in court.

What does it say about a company that people are having to give advice like this?

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I thought I'd give Simple Delivery another try because on the FAQ's is says they'll bring the label to me now for no extra cost. Excellent!

OH WOOPS THAT WAS A LIE. THERE ARE ACTUALLY 2 CONFLICTING FAQ'S IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY

madgick3_1-1751885450796.png

What a joke. I don't have a printer, so I'll have to drive to the post office now.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Have actually sold 3 items this week BUT i've now got to wait 2 weeks for the payment to come in.

Was thinking this morning,is this actually legal?...can you imagine any other company selling an item and telling the buyer "you can pay us in 2 weeks"...they'd go bust within weeks.

Seriously, who the hell makes this *bleep* up at ebay?
