NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Yes but if your item is under £10 if you beg your buyer to leave you feedback you get the money immediately

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I just had to buy one of these. I can't see what postage I've bough, It was free postage so I bought it. No info on the cost unless you go to payments and I paid more than if I bought from RM, ok just 2p but. Not liking this, needs to be more honest.

"You offered free postage - The postage Ebay is charging you for is £2.72 and is large letter sizeup to 1kg."

Why is this info not included and why is it the only option.

And why is offering Evri and RM cheaper than just offering one. Evri are hopeless where I am since the previous delivery guy left.

Not keen at all.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Have had 2 unused labels refunded but a 3rd one has been non existent despite filling in the form twice, have lost faith in the process at the min as it seems a bit of a crab shoot.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Been switched to SD only today (I’ve checked ever day if I've had the option of custom delivery for weeks of this incompetent roll out) and am having a half way break from de-listing my 93 items, and sending my 93 feedbacks! Gods I wish there had at least been a delete all function to save my last memory of ebay being akin to copying out lines at school!

I managed to flog a last few items over the last few weeks thanks to the help and advice from posters here in how to work round the platforms restrictive and uncompetitive rent-seeking practices, the money was much needed so thank you all.

Good luck to the rest of you; when your voice isn't listed to, vote with your feet.

Oh well, break over, back to the de-listing...

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Clever people are BUYING on eBay and selling outside eBay to clients and in well-placed physical shops. I suppose they have capital to invest most of us don't have but the low prices on eBay which are hacking us off are opportunities to those others.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I'm completely bemused by this development.   I was trying to get comfortable with SD ahead of pausing sales for the year.

You make a sale offering free delivery (selling paying), buyer requests to cancel, seller is out of pocket and has to request a refund even though the flow of events should be apparent to ebay.

I missed submitting my first request, expecting there to be a sensible process in place.  However, I'll submit for my second requested cancellation.

Seems this is the new world.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

This raises an interesting point  in relation to the traditional "free postage" option where the seller  offered the buyer free postage  and to me underlines yet another issue with the Simple Delivery model and Ebay's "cake and eat it" approach to implementing it.

For me offering free postage has always had very little value and in option I have used only a couple of times when selling bulky items I wanted to get rid of , old magazines on a BIN  etc but I can see why it works for some markets etc

So while it can be said the buyer pays the postage cost if that option is selected the actual buyer of the postage is Ebay who just pass the cost  of the "pre-paid label "on to whoever is paying and in the same way.

It would interesting to know if the likes of VTD allow sellers to offer to offer "Free Postage" .  In the new dysfunctional world of SD ,BPF and delayed payment its  an option that I even less likely to ever consider using  as it just adds more worms to the proverbial can, which I won't going near with a barge pole anytime soon 🙂

I think they keep the buyers address from you til you print the label.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Have found with free postage it gives the seller a little more freedom of posting outside of SD and you can claim the unused label back (when it works), and if someone combine's a couple of items then you can still post them the old way.

If you add the postage on to a listing and post outside of SD your out of pocket.

Forgot to mention found its worth just keeping a small postage float to cover the post costs with free post overwise it gets really messy

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

As things stand, it seems any new listings, relistings or revisions will revert to Simple Delivery. Existing listings currently have the original postage oprion available. So, unless things change further, I will be leaving existing listings up but will not be listing any new items unless the choice of postage is restored. The weird thing is that I've sold several items recently that have sat there for a year or more. Oh well.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I don't agree about automatic relisting changing to SD. I thought they would, but my tools are not. If I so much as edit the price, they change over to SD with no option to go back. So I'm just leaving them forever.

Also no longer selling after been a member since 2011! Only used RM tracked 48 and they collected from my address which I never had an issue with. Final straw!

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Seller fees were getting expensive though so I personally don't think that was a bad decision. I would have had to leave eventually if they stayed as were as it was getting very difficult to turn a decent profit.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I would rather pay seller fees than the debacle we have now.     I never thought they were expensive.

Private sellers do not look to "turn a decent profit"

I no longer sell,  but believe the options you talk about above, are still available.  You can still have items collected from home by Royal Mail.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

A follow-up from yesterday.
I cancelled the order, changed the postage option in settings to RM, and relisted the item. After explaining it to the seller, they bought it again.
The email sent to me for the sale, had a link to the postage which was RM. I was given the option of a pick-up and took up that option. I was also allowed to state my safe place, as I won't be in that location tomorrow (which is what I usually do for RM pick-ups).
When I looked at the RM page confirming I had a pick-up or collection booked for tomorrow, there was nothing about having to pay the 30p for it. It stated collection is free. This must be included in the postage fees. Maybe a new thing by eBay?
Not bad. However, there was no option for RM to print out the label and bring it to my location.
Now I need to do a 12-mile round trip to print out the label.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Thats your opinion but I'm sure the majority would prefer not to pay the exorbitant fees, and to be honest ebay must of been losing enough sellers to scrap them in the first place! I was losing much more than 4% per sale.

Also I don't know what you're selling and thats obviously your business but when I sell I am looking to turn a profit, otherwise I wouldn't be wasting my time selling so I don't think you talk for all private sellers on that one. I think it would be as equally a bad decision to reintroduce those fees that they were continually increasing. Has to be a happy medium to make it fair.

The new seller protection hasn't affected me making sales recently and I'm by all means a relatively new seller (last 2 years approx) but taking away the options for me to choose how I post the items I sell will resort in me listing no further items, so in my opion the "simple delivery" is a far worse decision than scrapping seller fees.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I was on the phone with ebay yesterday for 45 minutes. You have the option of Rm & Evri and I turned Evri off, however the man explained sometimes they could end up choosing another courier other than those two on your behalf. Also I always choose bring my label when sorting my collection out which I believe is no longer an option. Hughbenny confirms this in his reply. This is a terrible idea and ebay if they have any sense will get this reverted asap.

The man I spoke to yesterday actually did state that they are aware of the backlash in regards to this and are currently looking into it, glimmer of hope maybe but if it stands my days of selling with them are done and they were only just getting going unfortunately.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Really ?

I haven't been keeping-up with all the twists and turns as SD evolves towards whatever it will eventually be, but I thought there was only a choice between RM or Evri, with both as the default if no exclusion is made.

If ebay can use other unspecified delivery companies, that opens a whole new can of worms?
