NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

'Well I hope the ebay phone and chat lines are busy this morning. I just tried to get onto chat and it said 3m wait but I was still there after 10-15m so gave up for now. People really neef to complain about this,'

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please DON'T phone and complain. The people on the end of the phone have no power to do anything (and precious little knowledge about a lot of ebay stuff anyway..)

They've probably been told to placate irate callers by saying they'll 'pass the message on' to the powers that be, then told to ignore it....

Complain via email to the boss of ebay UK :  her name is Eve Williams.

If everybody does that, she may eventually get the message that people are really not happy.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I agree with you saying "don't phone to complain".   All that will do is clog the lines and prevent others with problems that might get solved being delayed in getting through.

But will emailing Eve achieve any more than phoning CS?

Does she actually read through her emails daily?  Or is that left to her P.A's part-time assistant P.A who dutifully thanks each and every one for their loyalty, tells them their complaint will be noted and passed on for consideration and then hits the "Delete" button ?

The only thing that Eve will probably take notice of, like all the rest of the execs. at her level, is the continuing decline in listings and sales.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I wrote to Eve Williams several weeks ago to ask a question.  I'm still waiting for a reply, but I'm not entirely surprised.  We're just too low down the pecking order to be bothered with.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Every once in a while, I take a look at eBay UK's TrustPilot page and look at the latest reviews - they are almost entirely one star and predominantly about either Simple Delivery or Buyer Protection Fee. Their current rating is 1.2/5 which, given that the minimum one can give is a one star review, is really 0.2/4 which would be the equivalent of 5%. It's worth noting, however, that eBay UK has never responded to a TrustPilot review so probably take little or no notice of them.

That said, it does encourage me a little to see that so many people are as unhappy with eBay as I am. If everybody else loved Simple Delivery, I'd be extremely depressed!

I’m not keen either particularly when you have to find a place to send your item and they’re refusing to take any mail to the next day.

ive now got  severe back problems seeing a physio tomorrow so cant get up and down or walk far as in excruciating pain.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Just got to experience this firsthand today. I had totally forgotten about this new process being brought in.
My previous sale in May allowed me to pick RM and have them pick it up in my safe place - which I did every time; plus, they printed out the label and brought it along.
When I could not find the address of the buyer after clicking links after links, I thought are they trying to force me into purchasing their preferred courier? As I was trying to find the address, I clicked on 'purchase postage' (I think it was called), and low and behold, I had purchased it. I expected a summary page and the option to purchase.
After feeling I was shanghaied into purchasing something I did not want, I contacted customer services, who told me this is the new policy. They told me I can change my option to RM only in my settings. This I did, but for the current sale, I would have to cancel and relist. I contacted the seller, cancelled and relisted.
I am now wondering if I would have the option for RM and RM printing out the label and picking it up from my safe place, or I am expected to travel to a location to drop it off?
Either way, I am not going to sell clothes any more on eBay after this sale.
Other things, will depend on RM being able to pick things up like they used to.
Having to travel to a place to dump something off worth less than a tenner would be ridiculous, plus a waste of my time..

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Note that you shouldn't have purchased the Simple Delivery label - it should have just been provided to you. The buyer has paid ebay for the label - and ebay supply you the label.

Once you have the Simple Delivery label, provided it is Royal Mail you can then go to the Royal Mail website to arrange a collection - though note these are now charged at 30p (per item). That charge is not related to ebay.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Simple postage is costing buyers.  EBay removed my postage charges on my existing listings recently and now buyers are having to pay more.  Today an item that would have been a large envelope was charged as a small parcel and a small parcel as a medium.  I have a ration book that I’d only charge 87p to post but they want to charge over £2 and a lampshade that would be £6.80 they’d charge over £10.  As for combining postage where items have been purchased separately by the same person, I’d refund the excess postage, eBay are just charging full postage per item.

I wish eBay would give us the option to opt out of ‘Simple’ postage.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I note that you continually post that the buyer pays for the label - this isn't always true as the seller chooses whether they or the buyer pays when listing. Please stop misleading everyone by stating this as it leads to confusion. I have noted this error in quite a few of your posts but have refrained from commenting as I assumed that you would begin to understand how to list but you haven't to date.

Here the seller pays:

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

@jonatjonatjonat is not misleading anyone with his posts. He is an experienced and trusted poster and I am sure that he is well aware that sellers CAN opt to pay for the postage, as are the vast majority of contributors to this and other threads on the subject.

However, he has been replying to individual posters, who have confirmed in their posts, that they paid for the postage.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

What I did, was have a look at the recent listings of that poster.they were set as postage being in addition to the product cost. Hence the buyer would have paid.

Im well aware of the setup of simple delivery.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

You can still arrange for RM to pick up your parcels but they cant bring your label unfortunately with simple delivery.

That is no longer true.  It is now possible to book the Royal Mail collection on eBay and at the same time to request that they bring the label .  Booking the collection on eBay also seems to avoid the 30p charge at present.

Booking a collection

If you have a Royal Mail label, you can book a collection on eBay. Royal Mail can then collect your item and also bring the label for you if you don't have a printer. You'll need to book the collection before you create your prepaid label. Here's how:

  1. Go to Orders in My eBay.
  2. Select the order you'd like to book a collection for.
  3. Select Get prepaid label.
  4. Choose the date for the collection.
  5. Select Book collection.

Once you've booked your collection, you won't be able to change the date. If you miss your collection, you can book it again for another date on the Royal Mail

I agree that complaining to Eve Williams is good.  By email, or even better, by letter (recorded delivery).  And complaining to every journalist and review site is also good.

I agree with you it would be foolish to expect CS people to do anything worthwhile.  However, complaining to them does tie up resources.  If you affect the bottom line sufficiently, ebay may start thinking about that.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I am curious what happens if you ignore the simple delivery and add postage costs by cheapest option as total price of the item to compensate for wasted postage label but still head over to post office and try add your own tracking from post office, what is ebay going to do bite you in the ankle?

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

You don’t get paid for 14 days and you would need to request a refund manually of the unused label I believe.
