AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Hi, I noticed this morning that on a desk top, don't know about the app, if you go to Customer services, search for simple delivery and then click the link that shows you the opt out list, you can then tell them about your dissatisfaction by clicking "Thumbs Down" and the 4th option is "I don't agree with ebays policy"
Got to be worth a few clicks

Oopsy! Had to edit my post as at first those options below the 2 thumbs up / down was not appearing, and I mistakenly thought it was removed.
One has to first click on the thumbs down, and then the options appear, and yes there is the option ' I don't agree with eBay policy' to select !

Go to Help & Contact tab top left of your homepage.
Type in Simple Delivery into the box.... ' How can We Help You'.
Do not click on the blue search icon on the right, but just below, click on Suggested Articles >> Simple Delivery.
Scroll to the very bottom, click on the down thumb, and the other options appear.
The above is when using a laptop / PC I don't use the app no idea if this is available on that device, or on a mobile browser.

FB left with a list of things I disagree with re. SD .
Including, but not limited to:
ebay profiteering
ebay restricting options for private sellers and buyers
ebay's anti-social cash grab from post office income leading to more closures.
Thanks for the link !

Of course I agree with the rest, but I can't blame ebay for 'profiteering'. The business is owned by investors, they want profit. It's what business is about.

Smart businesses look at the long term, how to build a relationship with customers, how to genuinely cultivate a win-win situation. But it's not unusual for businesses to ignore that, especially in the USA, where quarterly reporting creates a very narrow focus.

I have started listing on the other E site, slowly i admit (only 12 so far) Took me a while to get the basics into my old head and to manage the photographs but i am getting there. True it is a limited market place but then again two weeks ago i was selling at our local car boot and it was pretty busy, sales were awful, last week not so many sellers there and i did really well. Sometimes small can be better. Only downside is that i have to wait for the 21 days to get the money but that is just like e bay now and i am not in a rush. Also use paypal on it so can keep my money separate from my current account. Made one sale so far, time will tell. E Bay has been like an old shoe though, comfortable with the occasional stupid update but they went too far with SD.

I often wonder if they actually use the site themselves!
20-06-2025 12:58 PM
Totally agree. No more listings until eBay revert.

thank you Tressy, followed your instructions and as per usual you got it 100%. Probably will be just a waste of a few minutes as e bay never take any notice of opinions but i have tried. must get back to putting on my listings now on the new site!

Would never have found it without you, thank you. Given them my thoughts!!

I put a link up as requested and also added the post to the main board. Here is the link again.

Someone from Ebay needs to tell me why I should sell on Ebay again !!
All I have seen from Ebay in the last 9 months is mindless drivel about how it is "Free to sell on Ebay" and everyone wants to buy someone else's unwanted tat , dodgy lamps etc. Ebay is far more than that , and it shameful that their overpaid leadership have not got the simple nous to understand that .
In the next few months I will have stuff to sell , however Ebay need to get their head around they are no LONGER the default option due to their own stupidity .
As things stand I would rather give things away than let Ebay take a share of the proceeds .
When will the dunderheaded Ebay leadership wake up !

From 15 April, Simple Delivery is the only delivery method available for private sellers who list eligible items on eBay.co.uk. We'll be introducing this change in phases over the coming weeks.
The option to opt out and select Custom postage instead will only be available for letter-sized items in the specific categories below that are priced £10 and under. The £10 limit applies to the item price only and excludes the Buyer Protection Fee.

Could you elaborate a little? I'm sure there is a point to what you posted, but I can't quite see it. Thanks.

I am also giving up on Ebay. Sad really because I've been a member for years. All I wanted to do is use Royal Mail Tracked 48. This way I could have my parcels collected with a label brought to me. I can't get to the Post Office anymore so this service was a blessing.
I am now looking for another selling platform because I still have 112 listings on Ebay.

I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you can still have Royal Mail ' Home Collection' although it now costs 30p.
You just need to go to RM's website click on ' Arrange Collection' enter the SD label number confirm your address and pay the 30p.

I agree ebay is in business to make a profit and I have no objection to it doing so. If I remember rightly, when I joined over a decade ago, ebay was making more profit than it does today and I happily contributed to them with my listing fees and FVFs. I wouldn't mind at all if ebay was to increase its profits by improving its service and perhaps even enabling me to increase my sales.
What I dis-agree with is ebay increasing its profit by offering me, all other private sellers and our buyers a worsening service. Obviously designed solely to increase its profits with no regard to the effects on private sellers.
Longer payment holds, restricted delivery options, sabotaged sales due to the BPF and the subterfuge of "Free" to Sell" when without paying PL Fees there will be NO sales.
If this is the "American Way" of doing business, it's anything but Smart and does none of the things to foster long-term prosperity for the company or customers you mention and isn't something I want to be involved in.

You can arrange a Royal Mail collection and used it a couple of times but they cant bring a label for a SD label.

Just like @greycat777 my preference is to use Royal Mail Tracked 48 with collection and, yes, you can still do this (I have done so with the one item I have sold with SD). My objection with this is your full postal address appears on the label (only the postcode appears with Tracked 48 purchased through RM) and I don't believe this makes it 'safer and more secure' for the individual, also I'm pretty sure the label couldn't be brought along to put on the package.

Just found out, the old listings are still on custom postage, but if I want to edit it, I get "SD will override..." 🙄
