NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Agree....their arrogance towards their users is astonishing.

If it wasn't for us they wouldn't be where they are (or were).

I think(but I'm not sure it will do any good) as many people as possible should go onto the Live Members chat between 2 & 3pm on a Wednesday, and Voice their opinions on Simple Delivery, try and make the effort to do it...... And then do exactly the same the next Wednesday.... And the one after that.....the Mentors/Advisors in that chat, need to keep hearing from fed up Members...

ROFLMAO.  Oh you sweet summer child...  oops, no offence meant, I'm just assuming you've not often lurked in the Wednesday chat.  Make no mistake, the Mentor/Advisors (or whatever they're called) are under no illusions about how fed up members are.  Hang on, 'members'?  20+ years ago I did indeed consider myself an ebay member, it was a nice clubby feeling buying and selling from fellow 'members'.   Now, you might as well expect a sheep going into the shearing shed to call itself a member.  We're customers, ebay is a business, not a cosy club.

Anyhow, back to the Wednesday chat.  Yes, go there if it gives you a warm feeling to put the advisors on the spot.  However they're probably almost as frustrated by their lack of influence as you are.  They're told to take messages to the 'teams'.  To point at help pages where there are ambiguous statements.  They have no power to get someone from any of these teams to come along and give some answers.  Much less any decision makers.  Imagine something like the Laura Kuenssberg Sunday TV programme where she isn't allowed to interview anyone from the government and has instead to put some local council leaflet deliverer in the hot seat.  Wouldn't be very informative, would it?

So go there for your warm feeling, but try to curb your enthusiasm.  Ask an awkward question, it will vanish within seconds.  Ask a really awkward question and you'll be banned for a while.  Just keep in mind that the people who have to sit in that hot seat for an hour each week probably don't relish it (unless they're sadists, which I doubt) and are powerless to refuse to do it.  It's like ringing a ghastly call centre, the person on the phone isn't the one that made it ghastly.

I’m wondering if we might be part of the problem, some great recent posts have discussed that many people don’t discover our issues here, so perhaps we are doing just what eBay want? We are possibly wasting our breath being held within these eBay walls! Can’t we start a fb group or even a website, so the whole world will see what’s really going on.

..

Such places already exist.  For example there's a Reddit group called EbayUK.  Getting an increasing number of posts these days.  And you can guess how happy the average poster is.

I'd be very surprised if there aren't already FB groups for Ebay and for Ebay UK.  I don't use FB, so I don't know.  I'm guessing the credibility of such groups will depend on whether Ebay was smart enough to create them in the first place and has moderation rights.

The real question for you is: how will the whole world see what's going on?  You're keen on this idea, yet apparently you were unaware of the Reddit group.  Reddit is one of the hugest discussion hosts on the whole Internet.  Maybe try putting 'ebay uk forums' into your favourite search engine.  I've just given it a go myself.  Ones I was unaware of amongst the results too, though I'm not sure I'd last long if I tried to join MumsNet!  🙂

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Masochists you mean...

So what, suck it up and follow like a sheep to slaugher or get lost?

And no, I don't have a solution. As a member of the new "*bleep*lub" I keep my llive listings but not adding anything else.

I have been a loyal  customer for many years and any problem was dealt with utmost efficancy. But what is happening the last (how many? 6? 8?) months just beyond any comprehension. And I believe, it is only affecting ebay UK.

In recent months I would imagine they feel like Blackadder 3rd when he always has to wear the red nose and pointy hat at the annual guild of butler's christmas party for winning the 'whose got the stupidest master' competition.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I just had a look when the next set of accounts are due - don't know if this has been mentioned on the thread before, but there's to much to check through.

September 30th 2025 for accounts up to December 2024. So they won't include the current state they are in but they will have to mention future plans and risks. This little gem is on the last accounts.

In other words, screwing up is not an option. Oh dear!

Thanks, I was unaware of that.  I like youtube a lot, for everything from repairing my dishwasher to fixing microelectronics, but in the past when I'd looked there for ebay info I mostly found USA business sellers telling me how to set up my warehouse and how to model women's dresses.  If there's UK-oriented material, particularly material dealing with the latest changes, that would interest me.

@igotlazymutts   I did mean sadists.  To get pleasure from fobbing us off in that session, watching our apoplexy, that would be sadism.  To my way of thinking they would only be masochists if they had alternative job opportunities they were rejecting.  I believe you're right, UK has been singled out for special treatment, though since SD is going so well (insert emoji), it might spread to other countries.  See https://community.ebay.co.uk/t5/Seller-Central/Is-Simple-Delivery-in-every-country/td-p/7816855 .  As always @valueaddedresource has some interesting insight in that thread.

If ones reputation is already in the Victorian toilet how much additional harm is possible?

Nice gem though.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

"Your post actually brings to mind the crux of the problem. In the old days eBay was there FOR US: for the myriad of people with different circumstances, different locations, different needs, selling a vast array of items to a vast array of customers. Now, they want us to work for them, to streamline things for their benefit, certainly not ours."

I hadn't thought of it like that but you're absolutely right.  Previously you did feel as if Ebay was there to provide a service for US.  Now it feels as if we're here to provide a service for THEM.  There's something very wrong about that.

They would never allow that to happen, as a chat on 11 June shows.  It came to light that custom-giftsuk  had asked several ebay staff on several occasions why one seller was allowed to sell duplicate items under multiple accounts when it was against the rules.  This is the answer they got:

"We all have clarified how the policies and procedures work, and we also encourage to report any listings or users that you believe might be against policy. However, we are unable to discuss due to privacy and security reason why an item or a user gets removed or remains active.

This very same concern has been addressed for you multiple times here in the Community, and based in your statements, we can tell you've raised this point to multiple staff member through different channels, so please note that due to all the above, we are unable to provide a different response since this has been addressed for you several times now through different channels, and your feedback has been passed on as well.

So, going forward we will no longer address the same query/topic, and for now we could only recommend to keep reporting items and users that you believe could be breaching our policies, and then we will review the report and action it accordingly. “

In other words, ebay know it’s against the rules, but presumably they won’t stop it happening because they make a lot of money from it.  Bit awkward for them to admit that though, best to put a stop to awkward questions being asked instead.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Yep me too, I sell small quantities of specialist vintage thread for puppet repair, it costs £4.95 plus now eBay so called sellers fees, already overpricing it, and it weighs under 100g so no way will buyers pay £2.95 postage nor should they have to. So good buy selling it on eBay.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Ebay have become like the UK government (this one and the last)...they say they're listening but they're blatantly not.

They won't wake up until it comes back to bite them firmly on the ar5e.
