AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

You can quote Royal Mail statistics as much as you like but I know that the vast majority of the 6 or more second class items I post every day get there the next day, based on feedback from recipients.
The price difference is about 50p
The difference between 1st and 2nd class post is more than 50p - £1.55 vs 87p, £3.15 vs £1.55 and £3.60 vs £2 to give just three examples. Shows what you know.
Shops cost 3 times the price, never have what you need, are usually shut, and cost you an hour of time driving there and back
There’s a sweeping set of statements if ever I’ve heard them.

I've just checked all my items that I'd taken down on 6 April. Most of them have been converted to SD but I've put a few back up that still had the custom postage option. I'll just have to keep checking that they don't surreptitiously get converted to SD.

Let's hope we can get back to sensible discussion and not give the mods any reason to close this thread 🙏

I'm unsure what the signs will be when I'm converted. Will I be able to know, other than waiting for a sale and finding I can't do postage as normal? I made a couple of small sales last week, happy to say they were normal. But I've left everything untouched since April, I daren't even do the usual end and relist each month, as I used to, for fear the relist will be when SD kicks in. And I've listed nothing more during that time, except local collection.
If ebay wanted to come up with a scheme to cut down earning money from me, they couldn't have done better than mandatory SD.

"I'm unsure what the signs will be when I'm converted."
With some of my de-activated listings, if I click the re-list button, a banner comes up saying that item has been switched to SD, so I've left them de-listed. That's happened to most of mine, just a few of the eligible items where I didn't get the banner when I clicked the re-list button.
I'm not sure if you can tell if it's been switched to SD once the item is live. You may be able to tell from the postage option, but to be on the safe side, I keep looking at the back end to make sure. It's a pain, but I'd rather do that than get involved with SD.

Most private sellers have reduced there prices to compensate for the fee eBay have introduced for the buyers so in theory it’s not free to sell and as for simple delivery we have a right to post our items through Royal Mail because Evri has always lost my items so I don’t want to use them.
I was always happy to pay fees when I was a private seller.
Ebay just needed to Innovate, not imitate Vinted

Oh God, don't set him/her going again!!

Lol, at least it keeps this thread fresh

Same here not going to send large item by evri I also am disabled so I need parcels to be picked up and evri are hit and miss at picking up packages. I had one actually show up 6 months after I booked a pick up.

Lucky old you, must be one of the few people who do not have had a problem with EVRI. The local courier never delivers to anyone off the main route and EVRI are okay with that. We never actually get a delivery (and we do not order from anyone stating EVRI but some sellers say RM and then go cheap thinking they are clever, not so much when they have to do a full refund and may not even get the missing parcel back!) so cannot say what condition the items would be in if we did get them!

unless you can find a work around, the ones people have found seem to be closing fast, then you have to use simple delivery, only choice you have is EVRI or RM and e bay even cover that by saying they can over ride your decision if they want to.

for a start private buyers are not 'running a business'! So because EVRI work for you everyone else is the problem - that smacks a tad of arrogance or stupidity or are you just trying to sh.t stir????

a bid was made on one of my items and when it came to the day of sale it showed as having to be done by SD! So by my experience they are not telling you. I cancelled the sale, messaging the buyer as to why i had cancelled.

there is keeping a thread 'fresh' and then there are the trolls (for want of a better description)

Also there a section about Ship with simple delivery

Local buyers are waiting
List easily and make money with minimal effort (Without leaving the house)
…
-Now the next part just get better and better don’t stop reading just yet-
Click and collect via Evri
Coming soon: Save 15% or more on delivery costs, collect orders from convenient pick up locations.

*comparing the costs of click and collect to standard simple delivery labels
……
What an Fing load of absolute nonsense and utter BS lmfao 🤣
Based on this email I’d say EBay’s intentions are becoming clearer.

How does "without leaving the house" work? I thought that was one of the big problems with SD, no longer being able to get collection from ones house. As well as all the other problems, of course.

Yes, I can't be bothered with checking all the time to see if I've been forced onto SD. Like you, the first sale I get where SD is forced, I'll be cancelling explaining to the buyer the problem, and bulk editing all my items to local collect only. Then, as convenient, gradually listing them elsewhere.

Collection is available with Royal Mail but currently has to be booked separately on the Royal Mail website. Ebay are supposefly working on an integrated option.
The problem previously was that the 'Bring my label' service was unavailable meaning that the seller would need to be able to print the label. Royal Mail have now updated their website so that the 'Bring my label' is now available when booking a collection for a prepaid label.

I do think this thread has run its course now. I'd like to thank @rugbyguy1960 for starting it, and attempting to moderate it a little in its early days.
However, NOBODY is going to trawl through well over 6,000 posts looking for an answer, although all the good answers are in there somewhere. There's no point in just telling someone to just read the thread, as you possibly could when there were only 100 posts.
This is actually working for eBay, as so many different complaints are in here, and never get wider exposure because of the size of the thread, whereas they would if they had their own threads. And let's be honest, although there is a lot of great stuff in this thread, there is an awful lot of absolute nonsense too.
I'd like to see eBay close it down to further comment. If people have further questions or contributions they can start a new thread, and lets try not to let any new thread get as far out of control as this one has become.

If the item is collected by the buyer, you don’t leave the house
