NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I can't exactly sell an item to find out what happens now, but this is what the AI tells me you do, correct this if it's wrong.

  1. Listing Your Item: When you list an item for sale on eBay, you specify the shipping options and costs. You can choose to use eBay's shipping services, which allows you to print shipping labels directly from the platform.

  2. Buyer Purchases the Item: When a buyer purchases your item, they pay the total amount, which includes the item price plus the shipping cost that you set. This payment is collected by eBay at the time of checkout.

  3. Payment to You: After the buyer completes the purchase, eBay processes the payment. The total amount (item price plus shipping) is then credited to your eBay account. This means you receive the shipping cost as part of the payment from the buyer.

  4. Printing the Shipping Label: Once the payment is processed, you can go to your eBay account to print the shipping label. eBay provides an option to print the label directly from the order details. The cost of the shipping label is typically deducted from the total amount you received from the buyer.

  5. Shipping Label Cost: If you use eBay's shipping label service, the cost of the label is usually discounted compared to standard rates. The shipping label cost is taken from the funds you received from the buyer, so you do not need to pay for it out of pocket.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Since I've always bought shipping through ebay anyway as it's an identical price to go into Royal Mail or Evri why would this bother me whatsoever in fact it's much easier through ebay because it automatically puts the tracking number into ebay for the buyer to see

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Why would anyone want to ship through Evri, the worst shipper in Britain 4 years running when you are a regular seller? It is also not an identical price, close but not as cheap. I save almost 75p -85p for sending the same package myself through RM at the same service level. I think most regular sellers would rather take almost a pound per parcel and type the 8 characters into the tracking field manually.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

You seem to be really defending all these changes that are hurting regular sellers and I am not sure why. Forcing sellers to use only two authorized shippers that Ebay has bargained with for the rights. One the worst shipper in Britain for years and RM. Since ebay doesnt use the exact tables that RM uses but a simplified one, I could save about 75p per package if Ebay let me ship it myself.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Last time I sold something (6 months ago?) the price was identical through ebay and otherwise.  So why not do this?  Tell Ebay the postage costs nothing at all.  You get the full payment from the seller, and buy the postage you want from where you want.

As for Evri, I find them an extremely good courier.  I've used them in both directions and never had a single problem.  However Royal Mail is usually the cheapest, as they've lowered their prices on parcels.  Royal Mail also collect from your house for free.  I use a shed in my front garden with a security camera facing the door for deliveries and collections.  I only switch to someone other than Royal Mail when I'm posting something larger (which they don't do), or heavy (which they charge a lot more for).  I notice large companies tend to use Evri -they must have good bulk discounts - for example buying from Ali Express in China, or Chinese sellers on Ebay, the UK part of the delivery is often done by Evri if not Royal Mail.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

You seem to be constantly not listening to the continuous statements from regular sellers telling you that the price is not the same and would suggest you look it up yourself. You can say what you want about Evri but facts are facts and they have been listed by Ofcom's annual Post Monitoring Report as the worst shipper in Britain for the last 4 years in a row with a 32% customer satisfaction rating.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I need to know what they're doing before I can defend them.  As far as I can tell you don't have to change what you're doing.  I've only ever used RM and Evri, they're the best and cheapest two!  No idea why you hate Evri, they're a brilliant courier, never had a single problem with them.  Actually the only courier I've ever had cause to complain to is RM.  One of the many postmen who work in my area is a stickler for rules, and will not leave parcels in my shed when explicitly asked for, just because they require a signature.  No problem, I just rearrange delivery online and chances are I get a more sensible postman.  RM should remove the signed for *bleep* altogether - hint, most people are not in during the day!!!!  One letter I got signed for, I had no idea what it was, I just let it get returned.  My mortgage company kicked up a fuss and I told them if you want to contact m use normal post.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

So DON'T USE EBAY SHIPPING, simples.  Stop letting Ebay run your business, do what you like!!!

"Facts" from Ofcom (an organization I wouldn't trust as far as I could throw them) are nothing compared to real life events.  I must have sent and received about 500 parcels each way with Evri.  ZERO problems.  What are these problems you speak of?

Oh look....

https://www.ecommercemeister.com/2025/04/04/post-office-refuses-ebay-parcels-under-new-simple-delive...

"The issue follows a major change in eBay’s shipping policy set to take full effect on April 15, requiring all private sellers to use eBay’s pre-paid delivery system instead of arranging their own couriers."

So change to a business seller, pay lower fees, and retain your flexibility.

And another:

"If you upgrade to, or operate under, a business seller account, this policy does not apply to you"

Royal Mail also collect from your house for free.

1. You last sold something about 6 months ago - a lot has changed, one thing being that you don't get the buyer's delivery address UNTIL you have purchased the label from eBay.
2. eBay postage prices are often dearer than normal postage prices.
3. Royal Mail charge 30p to collect from the sender's address.
There are other problems too with 'simple' delivery, too many to list here.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

If you actually looked through this thread, it would explain what regular sellers who ship on a frequent basis think about Evri and the services they provide. I have already stated what Ofcoms report has stated and 32% rating should have said it all but you still are arguing the facts. You havent shipped for 6 months but you are arguing with people who ship on a regular basis in a 300 page thread on how miserable Evri is and what ebay is doing to them. You are arguing that the postage is the same and it isnt. You are arguing that we can just post ourselves but we cant as the postage is deducted from our funds and address are not given until after the postage payment is applied to our account so we would have to buy postage twice to ship it ourselves. Not really sure what your motive is here to be honest.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Ok so under simple delivery , delay payment and buyer protection

1. List your item . Ebay will guess the weight and add a postage price . It will also slap on a flat rate 75p Buyer protection fee + 4% / £1  to the initial asking price detering bidders etc

2: If it does ever  sell the buyer then pays Ebay the selling fee + Ebays postage fee. Ebay does not pass on these fees to the seller

3:  The seller than packs the item at their own cost and delivers it to the courier, The seller prints the label or someone else can do it for you

4: The buyer receives the parcel, if the leave feedback immediately the buyer than gets paid

5 : If not providing the buyer doesn't complain the seller gets his money after a further 2 days

4:  When the package is delivered

Quite different really .

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Then upgrade to business seller, or put your price up to reflect what ebay charge.  It's always been your profit = price to buyer - Ebay takings - postage.  Not rocket science.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

If the parcel requires a signature that's a good reason for not leaving them in your shed! The sender may have paid for the item to be signed for.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Ebay now tell you and buyer how much postage to pay. If buyer pays postage, Ebay keep the postage money, if seller does free postage, you pay Ebay for postage label. You now only get buyers address when either of those scenarios happen, you don't get the address to be able to get stamps etc at PO! If you sell something that is a large letter, although 100g or less is £1.55 to post, Ebay charge buyer/seller £2.72!!! That is cheating the buyer, that's only one of the things annoying people.
