NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

This is what I am learning as I read through all these messages. Many are not in it to make money but to have a clear out, or to send once treasured posessions off to new owners who will love them for more years to come. And it's something to do for many too, taking pride in the listing and joy in the sale.

I've had certain searches saved for years, and sometimes they bear fruit. For clothes I have favourite brands at different times and haven't bought new clothes (except undies and socks) for years. I was about to start selling some of my clothes as well as a load of vintage things I've collected (now that I know more about them and which are my favourites, and which I can pass on).

But my nearest Evri shop is a mile away, and to use the Post Office I'd need to take my parcels to work and pop out in my lunch break. I work five days a week so wouldn't always be able to fulfil the 2-3 day despatch time - and I'm not home for collection. With  my large letter items I could print my own labels (always bought from the RM site not eBay) and pop them into the Post Box or take them to a local shop (just 100 yards away) that takes in RM items (and will print labels too).

The number of items on my searches has definitely gone down considerably in the past month. I'm a disappointed buyer too.

I've seen many many changes at eBay over the years as I'm sure many of you have, but this is actually very sad as well as infuriating.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

'Am I to understand payment will not be forwarded unless positive feedback is received?'

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You'll always get your payment- time scale, from 2 dys after delivery to 14 days after- feedback just speeds the process up.

'And even if I choose RM will it be changed to Evri? '

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If, like an awful lot of others, you don't want to use Evri, you can opt out of using them.😊

But you can't just pay with cash in the post office to post ; you have to download/print out your postage 'label' and stick that on your parcel.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Have Evri turned off here and every item that has sold has gone via RM, non have produced a Evri label so far, but that's not to say it wont happen though.

Payment clears 2 days after delivery, some say it clears after receiving feedback but haven't experienced that yet.

Your A4 letter should be around £2.70 and you would need to take the QR to the post office if you haven't got a printer. A printer would be ideal though as you could just drop the letter off in the nearest letter box and they should scan it once it reaches the sorting office. Maybe corrected on that though.

You do have to juggle the figures a little to get the prices to look about right but someone has made a excellent  app that saves a lot of messing around.

eBay Fee Calculator - UK Buyer Protection Fees

The only pitfall I'v come across is offering free post, it can start to look messy as they take the post cost from your funds even if their pending, and waiting 5/6 days for your money can feel like a chore.

Give one try and see how you get on. I quite like it now as you don't have to go through all the custom postage options, but do understand others feel differently about it.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I'm only really falling down this hole due to finding out Royal Mail are bringing back the charge for collection, which sent me to these forums, which led me to post a comment, which led someone else to tell me about the SD changes.

On going back to check my items, all 103 remain listed with the postage prices I set when listing, I guess because I used the custom option? So that gets me a temporary reprieve I suppose. I doubt it'll be long before they remove that option too. It'd be good to have a schedule for all of this **** so that I can delist everything at the appropriate time, send ebay a strongly worded email, and ride off into the sunset to sell elsewhere.

I get a warm glow from reading about the number of people on this thread who get the same thing out of listing on ebay as me, and a warm glow from reading about the number of people who are prepared to sack ebay off to make a point.

If the worst happens (and ebay don't rethink) let's not worry too much eh? Something else will spring up. Something with a similar ethos to the one ebay originally held dear, and we'll all flock to it.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I was told by my post office lady it is just so they have a weight in the system to print out the COP

If you drop it off at a post office locker it won't be weighed there.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

The way I read that T&C is if you only had Evri as your option and you get an order from a remote area ebay can change it to royal mail as they delivery everywhere for the same price.

As the prices for Evri postage don't include remote fees.

Could be wrong though.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Thank you ebay, you've done it again. Changed my RM large letter custom postage price to RM small parcel price.

I've now got to issue my 3rd over payment refund in a fortnight.

I've had a guts full of you tampering with my customers and messing with my listings.

On what planet does a 50 page paperback require a shoebox size packet.

I've spent my valuable time photographing, listing diligently and made sure the postage cost reflects the item size and weight.

And then your ******* AI idiot algorithm alters it without my knowledge or consent.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Ebay’s biggest Scam of 2025 called Simple Delivery and The biggest one is Buyer Protection and specialy when it applies to collection items and to top it off Ebay laying eggs on buyers funds for as long as they wish. Whicb they say 2 days which never the case. Beware, Bewise Ebay is not the same place.

I was told off by our PO manager for sending a Tracked 48 large letter without adding the actual weight, not that there's an obvious place in the process to do so.

I imagine that RM still like to know how much the sledgehammer flat rate of £2.70 (all letters up to 750g) is raking in when 2nd class postage starts at 87p and £1.55 for large letters. In that respect getting PO staff to weigh everything makes sense.

It also gives PO staff something to do while they ask about your holiday money needs and life assurance.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I met up with some friends yesterday who used to be big buyers on ebay.  They’ve never sold on ebay so were unaware of what has been happening, other than a relative had told them that he’d stopped selling on ebay because it was “too complicated now” but he hadn't gone into details.  When I told them all the ways in which ebay had changed, they said that explained why it was so sparse now when they did a search for something they wanted to buy.  Apparently they often now can’t get what they want and they have to buy from elsewhere.  Them saying that the search results are “sparse” now tells me that a lot more than just a few private sellers have stopped selling.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Has anyone else noticed a new wrinkle?

im on SD for new lots and have some older lots still on previous postage.

there is some sort of postage discount going on at the moment for SD.  I’ve sold 2 things recently.

one person was charged £3.38 instead of the £4.06 for up to 2kg parcel with Evri.

and another was charged £2.48 instead of the usual £2.98 for a up to 1kg parcel…

considering I was charging £5.39 for “normal” EVRI tracked and signed this is a lot cheaper.

I’ve sold quite a lot lately - more since SD and I think it is off setting the buyers premium in buyer’s eyes to a certain extent.

I use Evri exclusively since I’ve had too many tracking issues with RN (items have arrived but tracking says they have not). 23 things sold and posted by Evri lately 100% success rate on delivery.

all these are small parcel - I’m aware of the “large letter” issue and sympathise.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Additionally, let's just hope that recording the actual weight of every £2.70 tracked letter might in the future mean that some sort of appropriate weight banding will be introduced? If a 100g letter costs less than half that to deliver then maybe it'll be priced to customers accordingly. One day.

After all, it's not totally unheard of for RM to reduce postage costs, as with letters up to 250g and up to 500g last month.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I believe they were searching for a book called "Stories That Didn't Happen" to see if a lot of the tales from this thread had been published or not.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

They didn't say what they were looking for.  I met up with them shortly after I'd dropped some things off at an auction house.  This is how the "sparse" comment arose:

Them:  What have you gone to an auction house for, I thought you sold on ebay.

Me:  I used to, but... [long explanation followed]

Them:  Ah, that explains why it's been so sparse now when we've looked for something to buy.  We thought it was odd because we used to buy a lot on ebay and [relative] said he'd stopped selling cos it was too complicated now but we didn't know why.

Me:  I haven't told you the half... [another long explanation].

etc etc

They subsequently said that ebay was their first port of call, and still is, but that they often can't get what they want now.  They didn't say what sort of things they looked for and it didn't occur to me to ask.  They conversation just moved on.

My guess is they were looking for a different book called "How to deny the glaringly obvious."
