NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Yes the exempt list means nothing with packing a bracelet (on the list) for example is large letter. One way or another we are still in the dark

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I went through my items that I have listed, and those that can be sent Large Letter are able to use "Advanced/Custom" postage. - Message 4445 in the thread

I don't believe it's the "Large Letter" that is the problem, it's what is sent that determines whether Large Letter is restricted to "Simple" or not.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I'm afraid you can't. That list of exemptions is just a bit of nonsense that ebay has put out without properly checking it first.

Nope, I have comic, dvd's, and a book that are large letter size/option and are "Advanced/Custom" postage

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

This is what Customer Service said in the Community Chat about Large Letters:

"Yes, if Simple Delivery kicks in, and Royal Mail designates it as "Large Letter", then you would need to send it using Simple Delivery. Otherwise, you'd need to send it in the old way."

But they then went on to say:

"The reason why you're seeing different scenarios is because items, locations, services may vary from time to time depending on the transaction."

Does anyone know what that means?  Are they saying that SD may not apply to some Large Letter transactions?

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I'm not talking about large letter. We've been discussing a list of exemptions relating to letters that ebay has put out. The list contains suggestions that couldn't possibly fit into letters and included sellotape, lego, flowering bulbs. DVDs are included in the list, but would have to be sent without the casing to make it work.  The list is unrealistic and needs a rewrite to make it fit for purpose.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Why did they do all that  when they just could have said items that fit into 5mm letter size

in fact a few weeks ago they did state that SD will be required for large letters

then they removed that statement  and  replaced it with the new category list which suggested large letters are was ok to send outside SD

oh never mind it’s a bit mind boggling ……

will wait to see in practice what happens when everyone is mandatory on new system

I think maybe confusion reigns because of the two systems running concurrently

thnks everyone for your comments

Surely it's misrepresentation to offer something so mind boggling complex and unclear that ebay themselves cannot even begin to coherently articulate it having tried for many weeks and call it Simple.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I would've just given Royal Mail's dimensions for a letter and left it at that.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I wonder if ebay regrets calling it simple delivery when it has turned out to be anything but.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I did try calling it Silly Delivery a couple of times earlier on, but it didn't catch-on.

I can see why, as the days wear on and the chaos continues, it now seems a bit frivolous for something that's having such un-settling consequences.

I'd imagine for some of ebay's project team members it will be etched into their mind forever as one of the most depressing and pointless changes they ever had to work on. Whoever sponsored the idea within ebay must be pretty unpopular by now. What an unholy mess - it's fascinating to watch it unfold. An act of total self harm by ebay in the face of growing competition from other places that actually seem to value their users. They might as well just put a big banner on the homepage telling people to leave it has the same effect. They are wasting their money advertising to attract users when the proposition is so bad people will want to leave.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

It’s the lack of clarity that’s annoying

once the actual facts are known people can get on and do what they need to do

but it’s like a suspense movie at the moment

The OED has got plenty of words beginning with S we could use, many of which would probably be removed.
