AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Maybe Evri works for you but there are a lot of people who prefer RM as a more trusted option.
I have had terrible experiences because evri was used. Packages not left in a safe place etc.
A lot of users prefer RM because they can't get about much.
Using the RM online collection service is second to none.
I'm a private seller and I sent my items by Large Letter padded envelopes using 48hr Tracked. I do not have a printer. All I did was go online, Pay £2.70 for postage and booked a collection for the next day.
A local postie collected my item and brought the label and scanned it on my doorstep.
That service can't be beaten.

That's a great post. It definitely made me laugh. That is just one of many reasons why compulsory SD has made me remove my listings and stop selling.

I don't think anyone has an issue with someone liking SD .
My main initial objection is was being forced to use SD without an option to opt out.
Ebay really should have waited a lot longer before they enforced SD in such a manner as it would have given Ebay more time to iron out some of the issues , which for those who are still selling do seem to be plenty of confusion . I am not selling at present a.
Interesting how think SD Evri is cheaper than normal Evri , as to me the online price doesn't appear that different with SD , I just wonder where you were purchasing your Evri postage from and where you actually paying for a next day service
My preference is Royal Mail all the time and with printed labels that tie into Ebay item I haven't had any lost items at all. I used Evri after covid as they offered a collection but once RM did the same I have used RM ever since as they are so much better than Evri in all aspects

"I don't think anyone has an issue with someone liking SD ."
Should have said everyone not anyone
Whoops , time for bed I think 🙂

I am trying to decipher how they come to the total that they do & what it means when they say...'£3.44 or what the buyer chooses'.....whaaat? of course the buyer might choose large letter even though the item is well over 1" (2.5cm) or well over 1kg...
———-
a buyer can’t choose large letter if it’s listed as a parcel
what eBay means with buyer chosing is whether they want standard delivery (ie tracked 48 or express tracked 24)
———
And a post free item of which one of mine has been since 15/4 had postage charged bas far as I can work out.
post free in the new system means you pay for the postage ie ebays label which will be identical to the label if you had said buyer pays
not something you built into the price and then sent your own way at your own cost
The new simple delivery system has a couple plus points (quote minor) but more downsides (more major)

there seems to be a consensus here. EBAY are the masters of 'fixing something that is not broken'! you can see them all in their fancy offices dreaming up reasons that things need to be updated, so they keep their jobs i guess?
we are all individuals are we not? i know what servive i need to use dependent on cost and efficiency, my own movements that day or week? buyer requests etc etc. thats what i want to choose, also i know what i need to charge for exceptional packing. please just let me/us deciced what is suitable for me/us in a given situation!
il not go in to what i collect as nobody is really intersted, but i have a well loved collection built over the last 20-30 years, mainly bought from all over the world on ebay. now there is nothing out there! litterally nothing. they used to call themselves the wordwide boot sale (or something like that), now i find more on marketplace than here (i get its more of a bun fight, as there is no commitment to sell) but EBAY have totally destroyed the fun and enjoyment for me and looks like a lot of others! surely this must show in their numbers?? or is this part of the plan? seems they fins us mere private buyers/sellers an annouance, and they want to move to be more directly related to an Amazon? and what with the Revenue also trying to get in on the act, looks like we all need tostart getting up at 4am on a saturday morning again to sell our prized posetions for 50p
i cant even search for anything myself anymore as ebay tries to do all that for you! 'FREE TO SELL ON EBAY', what you transfer the costs to the buyer, so make an offer on something the seller needs to offer back with fees added on!!!!??????. send me a harmless looking questionaire only to find myself being asked all sorts of invasive questions on trhe chance of winning £500!!..... i think someone is winding us down so that when they do decide to ditch private sellers, then it will appear as if we were in decline anyway.
someone from one of the biggies (rhyming with lace-cook) should get all over this, add some simple modelling to their platform, along the lines of EBAY in the 90s, where people are free to take a chance and buy and sell freely.

Looks like they are absolutely determined to get rid of private sellers (holding payments for two weeks, "buyer protection fee") now this.
I'm selling a tiny low-cost item that I post by 2nd Class Letter. The only option I have now is Large Letter Tracked up to 1kg which is THREE TIMES more expensive than Letter. The item doesn't even weigh a gramme. So I now need to put the price up by £2, which on top of the other shafting of private sellers, "buyer protection fee", makes the item very expensive and I will rightly get accused of ripping off customers.
They are shameful cowards actually, they should just come out and say that they want to totally fxxx you up.
Sooner I'm off here, the better.

had the same with relisting some cards and letter post size and no letter option . we where told letter post would be an option and they have had weeks to sort out just a farce (being polite)
26-04-2025 11:19 AM
Ebay have just stupidly asked for my feedback on listing an item, what a time to ask me. So I answered it, let them have my opinions, both barrels!!

For items under £10 and under 100g letter or large letter (I believe) you will still be able to do your own custom postage so you will have to change those but leave the small parcel sized ones on simple delivery (here, with RM there’s not any price difference for tracked 48)

I agree 100%. But if you list every item as a "Letter" and 100g you'll never need to use their far from simple delivery. 2 provisos. You need to pay the postage and price accordingly and you'll need to adjust the postage settings with every single listing even if you choose "Relist"
26-04-2025 2:20 PM
Make sure it's Letter and 100g and the old first class and second class options appear
26-04-2025 2:25 PM
If you want to use RM you can. Firstly delete Evri from the Simple Delivery settings in your account then RM will always be used. But then change to Letter and 100g and you can choose to use whichever service you want. This does require sellers to pay postage though
26-04-2025 3:24 PM
There is no option for letter !

Strange then how I was able to bulk edit and change them all to letter with a few clicks.
On the app it's not easy to find and I wouldn't put it past eBay to block it from certain categories.
However it clearly states in the terms for Simple Delivery that it only applies to items over 100g.
I changed all my items to Letter the day SD came in. From discs to books to other items. As I offer free postage it makes no difference to the buyer but it enables me to use Large Letter or Tracked 48 with a low weight.

had this back from CS ,
Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the issue you are facing with adding 90p letter on relisting item 156844875766. I can certainly understand how concerning this could be, especially when you are trying not to overcharge the buyers.!! ## me over charging##
