AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Mandatory S.D. is being rolled out bit-by-bit, not in one go!

So some people are in the system and others still have the option *not* to be .

Those lucky sellers who can still opt out, may find their listings being opted in later. (without the seller being asked!) It's probably a good idea to go and look at your listings once a day, just to check....

Ebay have put out a statement of 'clarity' by saying the 'mandatory S.D. roll-out is staggered.

Same with me postcards, i did really well selling off sets and lots then as soon as BPF came in nothing except a handful of sales took my listings off long ago didn't want the flak that was going to come from all this. Just wish we knew where we stood one way or the other i need to make a serious decision

All the items i have sold this week have had postage paid to me ? but triple checking, also triple checking all offers to see what postage is being added ?  as its says ,,Simple Delivery can help streamline every step of your postage experience on eBay,, how it we ever cope before ?

What a joke it's to keep people here hanging on it can't have listings that might change at any time without my knowledge. Not just the SD it would mean not been able to refund combined

Would you be using their app thing on yr phone ?

I tried to list a new item on there and yes,it comes up with the SD nonsense,then if you press the arrow to change the postage,I get a blank screen with grey squares.

However,if I use my laptop,again you get a SD box come up for postage.But underneath that box ,in very small type it says 'switch to advanced options'.

Click that and you get another box with SD on the right highlighted in blue,but 'advanced options' box on the left,at the bottom of the box.

Click the advanced one,then you get a new postage page with a 'Custom postage' highlighted outline box.

Your previous postage options should be underneath as before,saving that (and you can change it if needed),and yr listing should be as before with no SD.   

A lot of my listings were changed to SD on Tuesday,but they are all back to my postage settings now.

Of course,we are left in the dark as usual,as to what is going on,or will be done,but that's how it seems to be for most atm 😞

Have taken all mine off with the Holiday effort thing,just while I decide who to use as ebays replacement.

Claim against the carrier??? What's the 75p+4% for???? AND I am lead to
believe that EVRI don't insure breakable items i.e. glass pottery? Looking
at their terms.. I don't think anything they carry is insured????? Hence I
always get a CERTIFICATE OF POSTING I'm an ex Royal Mail employee and if I
have to pay more to use RM I will.. I have relatives and friends who work at
RM and loss of 'trade' could end up them being made redundant..

One of the points in my email to the eBay Executive Office was about fragile items which are prohibited by certain couriers. They replied:

eBay Simple Delivery provides protection for items up to £750 so should any issues occur while your parcel is in transit, eBay will resolve this for you.

 After 2 weeks of being totally dumbfounded I think I have worked out why Simple Delivery is so important to Ebay . I would guess  that the intention was to roll it out worldwide  and SD is intended to be a template for delivery where the actual courier  becomes transparent  to the customer, and Ebay are the virtual courier, and get a money for every parcel   ,  and for each country Ebay would just sort out a deal  with whoever .   

The carrot for the couriers is  their market share of Ebay's increases in return Ebay get favourable  rates  and a better range of compensation  range etc but to make it work it really has to be the only postage option  for at least private sellers and ideally all business sellers . 

The compensation for lost / non delivered item is potentially a positive but if you are dealing with someone like Evri who have a poor record its one thing refunding both buyer and seller but it doesn't really improve user experience. I can see why Royal Mail would have been enticed as label base RM48 etc have become very reliable and I haven't lost a single package for over 3 year . So they are very confident with their ability to deliver . So providing their market share doesn't drop its an attractive deal 

Failing points are where delivery is disputed and that will probably causes buyers problem  and damage in transit which will still cause the buyer an issue .  

I can see why Iannone Ebay CEO  thinks its a money earner , but then you really have to ask given its importance to Ebay why have they gone about it so badly  in the UK  .Although its money earner for Ebay its actual value to Ebay customers is pretty minimal and customers need to handled carefully if they were going to buy into and the last thing you want to do is make then resistant   .    Postage has always been an issue but perhaps not as bad as Ebay perceive , and by giving Evri a greater market share is very risky as they are probably 100x  more likely to loss or damage a parcel than RM 

If Simple Delivery  works then Ebay could claim they actually they are  genuinely protecting buyer and seller  from inefficient couriers ( of Ebay choice)  , rather just saying buyer protection gives a 24/7 call line.  Why anyone would need a 24/7 to report a missing or damaged item when post is delivered during the day and can easily be reported online in  a few clicks defies any rational logic

Probably the next things to try and work out is why Ebay have deployed Simple Delivery so badly ( was it deliberately sabotaged ? ) and what happens next . Ebay simply can't go back to last September but the reality is due to their own failing  their master strategy is in tatters and will take a hell of lot of work effort and sweet talking to get it going .

Yes I am all for royal mail 100% always pleasant and helpful ,not like the delivery drivers of some of the other companies just chuck parcels about any old how ,my partner and I watched 2 dpd drivers swapping parcels from 1 van to another ,it was shocking to watch they didn't care how they handled the parcels just chucked them, some fell out of the back of the one van onto the tarmac so the guy just threw them back into the van.some were quite large and heavy too .They weren't put neatly just in a heap so when that van brakes or goes over a hump the parcels will just tumble about .And DPD say the are the best courier and take care of peoples parcels what a joke .

They would appear to have done a deal with Evri, then - and Yodel's price has changed - but previously I sent a package to NI via Packlink for £2.69, whereas using Evri would have been over £5.00:

They don't actually say that they will pay out in the reply to @leighbayuk .

That doesn't definitively say they will compensate the seller. & stuff like this usually has to go through legal to get cleared and they say exactly what they want to say.

I've set up my draft listing ready to go 'live' this evening, and slightly amended the blurb that I put at the end - the 'suitable carrier' line is there for items that end up actually going via RM:

EVRI don't insure most things ,,wooden items is on there not covered list ? would be quicker to list what is covered
