AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

This thread is now the only good and worthwhile thing left on ebay!

Thank you so much. You deserve kudos for that but I have to wait until I get my daily allowance tomorrow lol.

The trouble is, even if eBay did revert and just have 10% fees on sales, I wouldn't trust them to do something else in the future that would cause mayhem for private sellers. They've lost my trust completely. It's too late.

That is so true. The trust between most users and here has been broken. Plus knowing that changes can be made by giving the minimum notice required is a big concern.

It's really quite illogical and nonsensical that there would be an arrangement with Royal Mail to accept packages with incorrect postage labels. It makes no sense at all. Just get it right! But the eBay AI system can't take into account an almost infinite number of variations in weight and size, so they have forced this mess upon everyone.

It gives the impression that users would get a better outcome if they played on a lucky dip machine.

Not trusted ebay for many years to be honest, starting with trying to force sellers to accept offers so they could have their fees sooner, never mind that the seller got less for the item. It's still been going on in more recent times where they kept turning offers back on to a relisted item. This resulted in having to check my listings very carefully in case ebay had made a change that benefitted them but was bad for me.
These most recent changes prove beyond any doubt how selfish ebay are as they try to satisfy their greed and not caring what they put users of their platform through as they do it.

So very true. For a platform that essentially is only a platform for people to sell and buy on a awful lot of control is wanted.

Well it's gone midnight and I'm still able to select custom delivery 🤞
15-04-2025 12:11 AM
I wonder if they are going by UK time or U S time.
15-04-2025 12:19 AM
Same here..some of mine had changed to SD,but now all my custom postages are back as they were.
And I still have the custom option as well.
Mine are all on 'away' with no purchase option for a month, just to see what happens.I doubt any good will come of it all.
The only thing you can rely on,is ebays inability to organise a p*ss up in a brewery.
Party tomorrow...an 'I don't have to deal with fleabay anymore' celebration party,it's driven me round the bend for years ,but not anymore ftw lol

Someone said earlier that it's been really quiet considering it's meant to officially due to start today. Maybe any changes are going to happen when most of us are expected to be asleep. Seems like your feeling the sense of relief too lol.

Exactly agree

Good point, may well be after 08.00 our time that they make it all go wrong.
My listing 'holiday' thing worked on UK time,so that's about 500 odd listings they won't earn anything out of,super.
Wonder if they will check the number of removed listings, and those on hold tomorrow vs this time last week.
Doubt it,but would be amusing to know .
And thank you for doing this thread rugbyguy1960,I hadn't realised the level of discontent, always thought I was just picky 😞
Brill job for giving people the opportunity to voice their grievances, thank you.

Thank you very much. There have been some great posts on this thread that I am sure have helped a lot of people like you and me. It's really great to see so many having the same goal and that we're all working together.

Did a test relist still able to change to advanced at present RM med parcel £5.15, my charge £5.35 to allow for packing materials
SD recommended is 1kg £3.44 (smartphone etc) when it is a large bulky toy dog.
Still has to be boxed or wrapped 2kg is the same price £3.44. After that we have the amazing 15kg at £10.55
Wether this is RM i don't know though i am set to RM only as need collection
So if it is RM it's way undercharged and as for Evri i have no interest in that and cannot use it
15-04-2025 12:48 AM
It's frightening to hear how far out some of these prices and charges are. It's going to seriously cause some major headaches.
15-04-2025 12:57 AM
I would only have RM as a option no matter where I sold.

Yes,seems so.You might well be right, they are going to make their dead clever IT department get up early to sink their own ship and ours, while we are still in bed.
Plan would certainly fit well with them, from experience.
And yes, relief at being rid of ebay, have a few parcels to do from our last minute giveaway today, then we are done. Was never a good sales platform for my stuff anyway, and the recent nonsense has reduced the already poor monthly takings this year by at least half ,from last years average. So,in fact whilst getting something back for my redundant stock and toys was ok,ebay nonsense has reduced that to a level that won't be missed. And not having to spend so much time on it for no reasonable return will be just great ,means more time with my girl and our Collie .
To what ebay address should I send the thank you card ?

I never sold a lot of items but between Jan and beginning of April I sold maybe 3 or 4 items. In the last couple of months I think I brought twice. At least I've had a lot more time to look at other options and enjoyed the having more time.
