AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I was speaking to a friend yesterday who runs a coffee shop. She said her sales have been down this week it is very quiet when she would normally expect it to be busier.

I stopped offering best offer and then realised that when BPF started the price I listed a item for was not the price potential buyers saw and all of a sudden my items just stopped selling.

If the CMA do get involved , I would expect them to look at BPF and this might not just have ramifications for not just for Ebay but for others who sites who claim to free to sell but have similar hidden charges that impact the value of the sale.
If Ebay tell the buyer one price and pay the seller another that is selling fee , pretending it to be Buyer Protection is mis-representation.
It is feasible that given the buyer has no option to opt out and this is supposedly some kind of mis sold insurance its not beyond the realms they may have to refund everyone who has been charged this fee , on what are 2nd hand used goods
After Ebay reverse simple delivery ( and they will have too) their next step will need to be to removed BPF and holding on to sellers money etc

It would be great if that happened. I didn't mind seller fees because I could price items accordingly and at least the price I listed a item for was what a buyer would see and knew what it would cost.

I lowered my prices to take on the burden of BPF. E.g a £69.99 item I list for £67 odd plus BPF rounded to £69.99. So it's no different for the buyer but sales still dropped off a cliff. And ultimately there's a limit to how low I will go with my items. I never sell something for less than it's worth, yet BPF seemingly forced people to slash their prices UK get a sale across the line.

If Evri has had problems with supplying the drop off shops with enough paper for the last few months ,so much for ebay doing a deal with them recently that was supposed to be a game changer ,what sort of deal was it ?as Evri obviously aren't keeping their end of the bargain to make sure the process is smooth ,buyers and sellers will hate ebay because parcels can't be posted or sales will get cancelled . A perfect way to run a business EBAY

For such a large company to not be able to supply flipping paper to run its business is sad
evri used to be available at my local coop
coop got rid of them for two reasons
they wanted to reduce the money they gave them for each parcel plus they were always running out of labels
thus sending customers on a trek to the net evri point …well no thanks
not as if every evri user needed the shop to print the label either

I think that with some post offices not accepting SD labels that will cause a lot of problems plus there are many sellers who will not want to use evri. It would be better for sellers to have the choice of the courier of their choice or SD.

I wonder what chaos tomorrow will bring?
So glad I am out.

Every day there's something new happen. It's better than a soap.

The most common issue I have with Evri is the internet being down so they can't print labels. Apparently the same happens with the lockers so you either can't deposit or the courier can't collect. Never had an issue with paper. Happens about once every 2-3 months but when it happens if can be out 2-3 days. I usually have to message the buyer to advise them what's happening.

It may take them a while but Simple Delivery will al least be dropped as an imposition , and Ebay really should have used the excuses of bugs etc and just parked it indefinitely
Instead they have chosen to stir up this total S*!t storm that means it won't just be simple delivery that gets scrutinised
Prior to free to sell , I was mainly selling on weeks with discounted selling fees so on average 3% ish . I did also sell on non discounted weeks as less sellers , same amount of buyers basis but when I started keeping accounts due to HMRC you realise how expensive 10% charges were , and with items listed to sell , I was selling at a lose quite often
Ebay have screwed up monumentally as this is a market that would thrive during the current economic issues and they done their best to break it
We all moan about Ebay fees but the fact is you to pay where ever you sell and Ebay rates are favourable to may other places for a relatively safe selling platform . It has taken 6 months to create this mess and could take another to fix it . I would guess they may is they will start charging listing fees as its incentive to set realistic starting bid or sale prices and that leads to more sales and higher selling fee revenue with a higher selling fee.

That's why I loved using RM and paying online and choosing collection. They collected from my home the following day and even brought the label.

It does feel like the economy is starting to turn south and people are likely to be a lot more hesitant and price focused. It must worry people when they see stock/bond market volatility, the job market drying up and that even the government can't afford its spending plans.
Not a great time for ebay to be trying expensive buyer taxes & postage options.

Using my used deck chairs as an example. It's the Amazonification of search results I also resent. Promoted, sponsored, stock images. Probably not even shipped from UK. Not just deck chairs, it's across the board. Type vintage clock and you'll probably get a brand new vintage look clock from China. I find anything I search, eBay always wants to throw a brand new (often cheap *bleep*), sponsored item at me. Yet if you sort Low-High, Nearest First, Ending Soonest etc. These listings still have a way of pushing to the front

I agree that all platforms like this want to make money. It's how they do it that counts. I never had any issues paying sellers fees because they were transparent. Buyers knew exactly where they stood. The compulsory SD needs to be made non compulsory and let sellers be able to choose their courier of choice so they can deal with them direct.

What seems to work well at the other place is the seller can decide which carriers they are willing to offer from a long list and then the buyer can pick from the sellers shortlist. The prices all look very fair no more than standard price that I have noticed although I assume the platform are probably still buying at under list price. I still don't understand why they are giving me free Yodel sometimes. I know this won't satisfy people that want to pay the Post Office but it's ok and you don't feel there is any extortion happening.

Yes, why can vinted use all couriers under the Sun but eBay can’t
and charge a price buyers are happy to pay
someone said ebay had shares in evri that’s why they’re pushing them
i find that laughable that that would be the reason they’re strangulating the sellers
oh well happy days

For me personally RM is the only real courier I trust and am happy with. As I don't have a printer or drive, to get to most places I'd need a taxi and that option is a no option. Paying RM online and them collecting from my home and bringing a label worked well. For people with printers who can get around they would like different choices to choose from.

I used to use Yahoo! auctions. GREEDYbay meanwhile clearly wants to be rid of 'Private' sellers - we who actually got this site off the ground in the first place but, what do I know. I've (Only?) been with this lot for 25 years.
The sooner Yahoo! return, THE BETTER!
