NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

See reply from the Executive Escalation team, as you would imagine its a totally useless reply.

My name is Cathy Connolly, I am part of our Executive Escalations team here at eBay UK and I am contacting you in relation to your recent correspondence to Eve Williams. Eve has asked me to reach out on her behalf, I will be reviewing your concerns today; I hope this email finds you safe and well.

Please accept my sincere apologies in my delayed response, we are currently experiencing a higher than usual volume of contacts.      ( I wonder why?)

I was unable to locate and your eBay account with the email address provided, however I have shared an overview regarding your Simple Delivery query.

Simple Delivery is designed to help streamline every step of your postage experience on eBay, from listing your item to providing you with a prepaid label when your item sells.

We are currently reviewing our Simple Delivery pricing to ensure our sellers can access the most cost effective service. With Simple Delivery, eBay want to simplify the listing experience when it comes to item sizes for our sellers. I can confirm that the Post Office have issued training to branches that each Simple Delivery item should be accepted, so long as it is within the maximum dimensions the carrier accepts, which is 61cm x 46cm x 46cm and less than 20kg for Royal Mail.   (side note, when I enquired at my local Post Office if they aware of Simple Delivery, they had absolutely no idea)

There are several benefits to using Simple Delivery, including:

• You'll be protected if the item is lost or damaged from the point the item is scanned into the carrier's delivery network and until it's marked as delivered

• You’ll typically get your funds 2 days after delivery has been confirmed when you use our prepaid labels

• There are no transaction fees on postage

• Tracking is automatically uploaded to your orders on your behalf

• You don't need to have a printer to use the labels

If you wish to provide your eBay username or email address associated with your account, I would be happy to take a further look into this for you.

Thank you again for contacting eBay directly with your concerns.

Kind Regards,

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

So Eve thanks us for our "invaluable feedback" today (4/4) and still thinks this is a good idea?

Whose FB has she been listening too?

"We only win when you win"

And conversely :  You will only lose when we lose.

Inflating buyers postage costs at a time when even more are struggling is a good idea?

It means lost sales and lost sellers and as those private sellers buy on average twice as much as buyers who do not sell, as pointed out by her CEO not too long ago.

Evidently she isn't too good at maths either.

"..20% reduction in postage costs."

Not in the examples I've seen.

eBay gives no mention as to size of envelope and an A4 envelope is still an envelope.  It may be large letter size but it is still an envelope if made of paper.

From today's announcement:

  • Items which can still use untracked service: There are a few categories of items where we’ll still permit untracked services if that’s your preference. This includes letter-sized items that meet both of the following criteria: they weigh up to 100 grams and are priced at a maximum of £10, excluding buyer fees.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

So to quote Cathy Connolly (assuming she is even a real person) - “We are currently reviewing our Simple Delivery pricing to ensure our sellers can access the most cost effective service”.
What doesn’t she get, the answer is simple. Let sellers
choose their postage options, and undoubtedly they will choose their own delivery method, which will undoubtedly be the most cost effective service. If sellers want to use SD that’s fine by me, but eBay please stop trying to say SD will improve the buyer and seller experience. THAT TOTAL CLAPTRAP AND INSULTING. START TREATING YOUR CUSTOMERS WITH THE RESPECT THEY DESERVE.

I really don't think that is true, they will have targets that they have to meet.  Mine certainly scans everything.

If the item isn't scanned and the buyer opens an INR, if eBay can't prove delivery, then eBay will have to refund the buyer.   Provided it shows as accepted into the Royal Mail network then it is nothing to do with the seller.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Ive also removed all my listings as of today. Shame because I held off selling my stuff til after Christmas in the hopes it would sell a bit faster. Nevermind...

I couldn't help but notice eBay big wigs have been selling off stock in the last 30 days too, I wonder what they are expecting...

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Very similar  to the response I got , to the point is the "person" you may be dealing with is actually an AI bot

Eve Williams  ( Ebay uk head honcho ) needs to be the target audience as she is the person who needs to start listening  and changing things.

Ebay really need to stop telling customers how good they are and start LISTENING !  As things stand it looks like the Ebay customers care a lot more about the business than Ebay leadership !

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I'm only repeating what he told me..Mind you The postmen change more often
than I change my socks. I've worked for Parelforce, Royal Mail and people
would be amazed at what goes on.
In a situation where the delivery person didn't scan the item, and the
recipient acknowledged receipt Would Ebay release the payment made for the
item within the 2 days, they quote. Or would they wait the 14 days they have
quoted before releasing the funds.. It's all very complicated.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

As Ebay love AI so much I thought it would be interesting to ask Copilot to draft a letter of complaint to ebay about Simple Delivery and the Buyer Protection Fee. This is the result:

**Subject:** Complaint Regarding Simple Delivery Service and Buyer Protection Fee

Dear eBay Customer Support Team,

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the Simple Delivery service and the Buyer Protection Fee applied to my recent transactions on eBay. While I appreciate eBay's efforts to enhance buyer security and streamline delivery services, my experience has been far from satisfactory.

Firstly, the Simple Delivery service has not met the expected standards. [Describe any issues experienced, such as delays, package mishandling, poor tracking, or lack of communication]. As a buyer relying on timely and efficient delivery, I find this service inadequate and frustrating.

Additionally, the Buyer Protection Fee, which is intended to provide security and assurance, seems unfairly applied and lacks transparency. [Explain concerns—e.g., unclear justification for the fee, unexpected charges, or its application even when protection is unnecessary]. While I understand the need for safeguards, this fee does not seem to offer additional benefits that justify its cost.

I urge eBay to address these concerns by improving the Simple Delivery service and reconsidering the structure and transparency of the Buyer Protection Fee. I would appreciate a detailed response regarding how eBay plans to resolve these issues and improve customer satisfaction moving forward.

Thank you for taking the time to address my concerns. I look forward to your prompt response.

Sincerely,

**[Your Name]**

Quite amusing.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Why not offer the whole collection for sale on a single listing, as the postage would then be worth it?

RON,

If the item is £25 or under and the buyer leaves positive feedback then payment is released within 24 hours.

If the buyer just confirms receipt in a message then it might be possible to get payment released sooner by contacting eBay but no guarantees.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I have just made a complaint to CMA (Competition & Markets Authority) about the Simple Delivery fiasco. Ebay have shot themselves in the foot with this outrageous sytem. They will lose subscribers and in turn income. I for one will be leaving this platform as it has hit rock bottom. It takes nothing into account in a sensible way, right from Letter Post upwards. It takes no account whatsoever of Sellers packaging costs, eg envelopes, sellotape, bubblewrap etc. This, on top of the Buyers Protection Fee is simply an attempt to make the rich shareholders even richer. I have some mobility issues that prevent me from taking an Evri package to an Evri Collection Centre. Ebays advice to me if a Buyer chooses Evri is to cancel the order. How fair is that both to the Buyer and the Seller. Ebay, have the guts to admit you are wrong and return to the systemmthat works; where the Seller sorts out the posting.

Can you post a list of who we should send this to? If everyone sent it I'm
sure even if didn't do any good at the end of the day It would make people
feel better.

That's rubbish advice. More upset to buyers and I bet sellers won't be protected if they give this as a reason for cancellation.
