AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

So so true. The BPF farce and now the SD farce has effected absolutely everyone who buys and sells that are not a business.

There is a thread on the business board with sellers saying their sales suddenly stopped in March, so i think it is affecting business sellers too.

I've stopped spending with both business and private sellers. Next month I am going to have the best credit card bill in years. I'm going to have a lot of fun trying out other places to buy and sell. Ebay have pushed many of us too far and they have opened our eyes to the other choices we have.

At first when I suggested a chain reaction being caused was something I hoped would not happen. But obviously private sellers selling less would mean they would buy less. Less people buying would be bound to hit business sellers. I'm no rocket scientist but I could see it happening. Plus with SD eventually being rolled out to business sellers that is doomed to failure because a lot of business sellers that are bigger would have already negotiated their own postage rates.

I've only sold a handful of items since the changes earlier this year plus in the last few weeks I've brought a lot less than I used to. Looking elsewhere has become interesting. The way things are going here it will end up being a highly inflated and expensive online car boot sale.

Yeah I'd imagine the biggest business sellers will have entered into contracts with their carriers where they have had to commit minimum item volumes (covering their sales on ebay, direct and other platforms) in order to secure extremely low shipping rates. It's going to be tricky for ebay to unpick that and add their extra quid on. Maybe ebay will just pick on the little business guys for now.

That's a pity must admit i am no longer buying at all because i'm not selling anything, even before i took it all off as soon as the BPF went on my listings only a few regular buyers were interested even though i sent offers

The way they are going little business sellers and dealers selling to dealers will be the main source of income.

Still too much ambiguity regarding Simple Delivery - yesterday in the 2pm chat, I said that my main concern with Simple Delivery is that apparently eBay can override my choice of item carrier even if I've specified that I only want to use Royal Mail & asking if that's correct.
The response was "That could happen, but only under very specific scenarios. For example, if you disable Royal Mail can keep Evri only, but Evri doesn't deliver to the buyer's location, or doesn't offer the service needed, then it would be sent with Royal Mail."
So I'm left presuming that only Royal Mail will be used but I don't know for sure which isn't good enough. eBay could at least expand on other scenarios.
I also asked if Standard Delivery and Express Delivery refers to Tracked 48 and Tracked 24 but no response. It's not exactly too much for a seller to know for sure what service is being used.
Consequently, I'm taking a break from selling after April 6 and will see how things pan out for others.

BPF absolutely affected how many items I brought and sold. And now SD has finished me off as a private seller.

I’m a business as well as private. I really hate this place. My business took a dive. Looking at own e commerce site. You could sell on the blue v in a green square or the red square with a black d

I never sold much on there but try other free sites depending on what you’re selling

I hoped it wouldn't effect business sellers but with all these draconian measures for private sellers/buyers I now sell so much less and so now buy much less. I loathe how much this once really good platform has been ruined.

The more I hear about SD the more I believe it is so poorly thought out and they are making it up as they go along.

With all this affecting private sellers and buyers and even businesses they might hopefully be forced into some back tracking. At some stage anyone with any sense who is management here will be looking at all this under a microscope.

Probably more to do with Trump, but it’s nice to see the ebay share price going south!

"I have yet to see any Buyer's reactions as no clear picture of what eBay are quoting"
I'm mostly a buyer, although I'm an occasional seller as well. I've got several issues with SD as a buyer.
1. Today I received a DVD, the postage cost of which was £2.10. In future it will be £2.70. That is a totally unnecessary additional cost, and I’m not willing to pay that simply in order to line ebay’s pockets.
2. I've noticed for a while that there are far fewer private sellers on ebay. It’s not just about having less choice, although that’s part of it. It’s also about the quality of choice. In my experience, private sellers are more likely to post actual images instead of the stock images that mega-sellers use, and their descriptions are often more individual instead of standard descriptions. In the case of CDs, private sellers are more likely to post an image of the back of the CD showing the track list, whereas the mega-sellers almost never do this. So once the private sellers are gone, I won’t be buying any more CDs off ebay because I always want to see the track listing.
3. As I’ve said on another thread, although what I sell is nearly all low value, I like to think that the funds offset what I call my “little treats”. Since I won’t be selling anything after 7 April, I won’t be buying “treats” like I have done in the past, particularly in view of the additional postage cost.
So for all these reasons, I won’t be buying much, if anything, on ebay in future. There may be other implications that haven’t occurred to me, and which I would only discover if I actually bought something.
I suspect that people who only buy and don’t sell, don’t realise that anything is changing.

And what a time for this platform to introduce such unpopular new changes. Maybe just for a change they'll be more further changes announced on here.

As a private seller who sells items from my own collection of Signed cd's I post as many photos I think are needed. If the cd is still sealed I won't open it. If in some cases a cd is not sealed then if asked I have happily taken a couple of extra photos to send to a perspective buyer. Luckily I've only got 4 live listings left which I am removing at the weekend.

I expect Simple Delivery will cause so much chaos that, by the autumn, ebay will have to employ extra staff to deal with the thousands of complaints. May make front page headlines.
