AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

No wonder there is no date given for the eventual rollout of SD to businesses. I guess it's difficult to plan to far ahead if it's being made up as they go along.

Now that would be effing hilarious.
I hope this self licking ice cream disappears soon.

Honestly at the rate they are going this platform will end up being a glorified online car boot sale with highly inflated prices and confusing rules and regulations.

Yes, I used to sell various old media (Music, DVDs & Games). I'd always take pictures of the front, back and inside of the listed item. I had no interest in matching Music Magpie etc on price, but as you demonstrate there are buyers who check for such things.
Those who only buy may not notice the changes at ebay, but those buyers also have very little interest in the platform beyond the price they pay. I find the whole strategy very odd, as private sellers still feature heavily as a USP in their advertising whilst they're driving them away. They like the image, but in reality they'd rather just deal with business sellers.

They really need to roll back all this nonsense and keep it simple.
Apple lost 300 billion today.

The frustrating thing for me was that I only sold items from my personal collection so that I had room to put new signed items. Because they are signed I refuse to sell them at stupidly low prices but then again as I'm not a business I wasn't bothered with trying to make a silly profit. I only sold to get as close to what a item cost me and in a lot of cases made a small loss.

Start a square website

So true. Well hopefully this is the start of the greed brigade getting what they well and truly deserve. And I don't mean profit wise.

A slight twist on a known saying should now be -:
OH HOW THE MIGHTY ARE FALLING.

I looked up that eve williams underling she has had quite a few jobs 🤔
03-04-2025 4:34 PM
Maybe the reason for no response to my email is that she's looking for a new one.

I wonder how long she will be in post for?
the feeBay way…..what a load of hoop

eBay has today announced that Eve Williams has been promoted to Vice President, General Manager of its UK business. Eve Williams joined eBay in December, 2020, as UK Chief Marketing Officer - overseeing high profile campaigns like eBay’s pre-loved fashion partnership with Love Island, a revival of MTV’s iconic Pimp my Ride series, and the introduction of a new brand platform, The eBay Way.
Before eBay, Eve spent seven years as Global Brand Director at ASOS where she was responsible for the company's marketing and customer programmes, alongside creative strategy, content planning, consumer comms and social media output. Prior to that, Eve was Managing Director at Cedar Communications Ltd, producing content for some of the world’s leading brands including British Airways, Tesco, O2, TUI and Nikon.
Eve replaces Murray Lambell who held the role since 2020 and has now been promoted to Global General Manager of the Home, Garden & Refurbished categories based at eBay’s European headquarters in Bern, Switzerland.
Making the announcement Jordan Sweetnam, Senior Vice President for Global Markets at eBay said ‘I am delighted to announce Eve’s well deserved promotion to lead our UK business, representing our second largest global market. She is the ideal candidate for the job, bringing a wealth of cross-functional experience to the UK leadership role, including as UK CMO where she transformed the way we understand and engage British customers.’
Eve said ‘I feel incredibly privileged to step up to this role at an exciting moment in eBay’s 28 year history. In the UK, millions of people use our platform to buy and sell everyday, while hundreds of thousands of small businesses across the country use eBay to reach millions of customers across all our key categories whether that’s car parts & accessories, homewares, preloved fashion or refurbished tech. As UK shoppers think much more about the environmental impact of how and what they buy, we are uniquely positioned to offer a smarter, more sustainable place to shop.’

Hopefully the whole management team are going to start looking over their shoulders and waiting for a lot of unhappy shareholders.

What a absolute load of rubbish. Maybe the promotion was to have someone to blame for the demise of this platform that's sinking quicker than a lead brick.

I will be doing the same. I'm not sure why people are surprised by ebay actions. Anyone who has ever sold on ebay and had a problem with the buyer will know ebay do not want small scale sellers like me and possibly you. They have all the big names now and they don't want the people who made ebay what it is. The treatment they give sellers is a complete disgrace
03-04-2025 4:52 PM
I totally agree. Hopefully this platforms loss will become a gain elsewhere. Plus when they eventually rollout SD to businesses I can already see now that it will be doomed to fail.

I did try them a couple of years ago. The layout was almost identical to ebay but never managed to actually sell anything. I also had the problem that pages wouldn't load and pictures wouldn't upload. Given that I know so many people who will no longer use ebay I would hope ebid have sorted any problems. I myself will be finding out as I'm not happy with new ebay rules. Good luck

I'm only going to keep watching what happens here for comedy reasons. With no selling for the foreseeable future and hardly ever buying now it will be cheaper than watching some programmes on TV.

Just realised that as I joined eBid 26 years ago I'm a Platinum member so I get to sell, promote and have storefronts at absolutely no cost whatsoever. If you have an ancient eBid account worth trying to resurrect it to see if you have the same as you have to pay for some of these benefits now. Couldn't remember my password but the reset process was pretty easy.
