Not all totally bad news this time.
Opt in/opt out and eligibility
Can I opt out of Simple Delivery?
Yes, you can opt out of Simple Delivery when you’re creating the listing.
For now great news. One that needs to be heeded is:
Without limiting other remedies, we may limit, suspend, or terminate your user account(s) and access to our Services, restrict or prohibit access to, and your activities on, our Services, cancel bids, remove or demote or otherwise restrict the visibility of listings, delay or remove hosted content, remove any special status associated with the account, reduce or eliminate any discounts, and take technical and legal steps to keep you from using our Services if:
we think that you are creating problems or possible legal liabilities for us, our users, suppliers or other third parties.
My query is: does ebay now holding a sellers funds slightly come under the profiteering umbrella.

I totally agree about being able to choose.
I've said on other threads that for the cost that RM charge me I can't fault them.
I send 48hr tracked. RM collect and even bring a label. It's collected by a postman so there is human interaction. As a private seller that is great. Plus I don't charge buyers a penny more than what RM charge me. I pay packaging material costs out of my pocket.

"I will go with the flow with policy changes (not that I have a choice) but delivery options offered should be 100% the sellers choice."
I'd go further than that in suggesting there are NO sound reasons why the choice of courier should have anything to do with the buyer. The buyer should select the level of delivery service they'd prefer and that's it.

well it would be good news for me. I can stomach the wait for money and the buyers fee but not SD. I do not want to stop selling on here, especially after looking at some other sites which i consider bad or worse so being allowed to opt out would be great (so why do i just get the feeling that hopes are raised only to be dashed.....

Did you prefer paying sellers' fees? Listing fees?
It's already been established that waiting for your money is the price private sellers must now pay to use eBay. And, let's be honest, once eBay has acknowledged receipt of the funds, they are as good as cleared, anyway.
You are perfectly aware of this.
Nobody is forcing you to use eBay. You can stop at any time you want.

YES. - I would much rather pay the seller's fees and have my money QUICKLY.
EDIT:
Just to add I have already stopped using eBay to sell on and I am now on two other sites where I get PayPal instant payments and regular sales happening once again.
I am just sad and angry at eBay for messing up what was a great site to buy and sell on for years.

As you say, you no longer sell, so it's not a problem for you.

Just looking up things at the moment and found this on the FCA page for eBay UK.
Just posting this extract in case it is of interest and any are unaware.
"If this firm goes out of business owing you money you will not be able to claim compensation from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). If you would like to check what is and what isn’t covered, you can ask this firm to confirm this to you in writing."
That's in a great big yellow banner at the top of their page.

Well that's another nail in the coffin regarding my selling days being limited.
You might like this info :
I just spoke to our RM postman who has worked there for years and asked if me and buyers who buy from me are protected by me sending packages and his response was YES. No wonder buyers are hating these extra charges.

My big gripe regarding waiting for my money is the length of time it's held for.
Before this was introduced if I sold something say before 6pm not only were the funds processed but were normally available before midnight or the next day at very latest.
Why do ebay now hold the money until a item is received without processing it instead of then making a seller wait at least 2 days more for processing.
This is what I've experienced this week.

Well from the time I claimed and the information Royal Mail provided me at that time it's yes with provisos. For the service I was claiming for (48 Tracked) they only covered to the value paid for the item, but since then they may have added "or sold, whichever is the lesser of the 2."
Certainly something worth checking if you are reliant on it.

but you don't address the question.
Would you rather wait a few days for your payment, or pay approximately 13% of your sales (including postage) in fees?
If people would put their sensible head on, they would realise a) that the holds really amount to no big thing and b) if they are concerned about being hit with a large postage bill, then list fewer items, until they have built up a postage fund.
Once payments begin to be credited to your account, the issue, for 99% of sellers, will disappear.

Well part of the sensible head is acknowledging that all transactions are reliant on consumers being happy with a price. So if the price they see is higher than it was, they are unlikely to be happy.
At that point it's the sellers choice to reduce their charges or not.
If it's a business seller that's a profit question, with a private seller it's more what they are happy with.
Now if they think/know there may be opportunity elsewhere to sell their item and get more money for it than they now can on eBay is that not sensible?
Essentially they are saving themselves money.

There was another post on this recently (I can't find it now, though).
The consensus seemed to be that for private sellers, RM do pay out the amount the item sold for - claimants provided a screenshot of the eBay sale in lieu of a receipt.
That makes sense to me.
Business sellers should obviously have receipts and invoices, but they can't expect private sellers to still have receipts for everything they sell; especially for something like collectibles, where the items could also have significantly gone up in value since. (The only exception is probably items that are still for general retail sale, and so they may go by that price if you sold yours for higher for some reason.)

In most cases you may only have the sale (Ebay) price rather than what you'd originally paid for the item.
But even if you had both and the sold price was higher you'd be justified in claiming the full sale price, on the basis that the value determined the level of delivery service.

I'm not denying what either of you are saying. I'm just relaying what the Royal Mail CS told me on the phone. She was very specific that they only cover to what you paid for the service I was claiming against, 48 Hour Tracked.
But since that happened I have seen a RM page that where they say the lower of paid or sold values.

I wouldn’t talk directly to anyone for this type of thing. A CS or rep’s job will be to get you to expect as little compensation as they can get away with. The fact that they have updated that guidance page shows that they couldn’t actually get away with the practice of expecting to be given receipts before paying compensation. I would just forego giving any receipt, and show them a screenshot of the sale prices. That is how much they have cost you by losing your parcel. That is the least they should pay out in compensation. If you underpay postage, then they’re quick to claim their inflated compensation charges to you / the recipient.

Don't get me wrong I'm just asking the question.
How come before the change, payments were generally processed and paid out on the same day.
I might not be keen on the waiting for delivery part but I accept it but why can't a sellers money be processed during that time instead of the additional at least 2 days.
