Looks like you haven't sold for a very long time? Have you registered with eBay's Managed Payments?
You may be prevented from listing an item, because you have not fully or correctly registered with eBay's Managed Payments.
You need to provide eBay with details of a bank account and have this account verified. The usual method here, is for eBay to send 2 micro deposits into that nominated bank account for you to receive, and confirm to eBay.
Once this is completed, you will be able to list items for sale, and receive payouts from those sales.
This will show you how to register for eBay's Managed Payments.

If there is an issue with the registration contact eBay Customer Services, who have full access to your account, and can see where the issue lies and explain the steps you now need to take.
Contact them this way.
This is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

Automated agents will be available on chat outside of the above hours.
I recommend contacting CS first thing in the morning as there's more chance of Dublin answering.

Hi there,
I have the same issue and can't upload listings - getting error message above the photos saying to remove photos/photos are missing.
Further down it says the photos are not the required resolution of minimum 500 pixels on longest side.
But they are!
So seems there's another glitch on the site....

Oh, and just to add, I don't know a solution, sorry.
I am saving my listings as drafts at present and will come back later to see if they will upload then, but if not, will contact eBay live chat or whatever!

I am also getting the ' something is missing please fix any issues and try again Photos which is underlined' error message when I have photos present- the same with 2 listings (one a re-listing) today. Havnt had this before.

'the same with 2 listings (one a re-listing) TODAY'

Today is Freaky Friday (a.k.a. 'maintenance day') all sorts of peculiarities happen on Fridays, when 🤖 suddenly turns into 👺 !
Try again later; whatever it is will probably be just fine 😊

Having same frustrating issue this morning. I am having to go into the photo display on my laptop and resize the image so all parts 500 pixels. Never had this problem before but if not fixed none of my listings will renew and have to sort out nearly 1000 photos.

Are you having to resize the images down to 500 pixels; i.e. the images were originally larger than 500 pixels?

Find out about batch processing programs such as ImageMagick or Phatch. Your initial study of them will be repaid many many times over.

Yes, this!
Have had to resize all images up to at least 500 pixels on the SHORTEST side.
I usually use the 640 x 480 pixel photo size, but this is not being accepted on the listings.
The message says make sure the LONGEST side is at least 500 pixels.
But it seems they've broken something else as even if the LONGEST side is more than 500 pixels (640 in fact) the system is not accepting the photo as the correct resolution for the site.

Im not technical at all but i had this message a week ago when listing and it was because i had croped the image to much. Croping in ebay pics is limited now and uploading croped images is a problem if you go below that limit in another system.
Could be other reasons too.

In other guidance eBay states images must have a minimum resolution of 500 x 500 pixels; i.e. the shortest side needs to be at least 500 pixels.
Have you been deliberately resizing your images to 640 x 480 pixels? This size is intended for small printed photographs; it does not look great when viewed on a high-resolution display. This is what one of your main images looks like on my 1920 x 1080 resolution screen:
As you can see it's quite blurry; the higher the resolution of the display the more blurred it will look. The ideal size for eBay is 1,600 x 1,600 pixels or 1,600 pixels on the longest side.

Hmm....thank you for that. Doesn't look great does it?! I am now wondering if all my photos look poor?!
Usually use 640 x 480 to save storage space and have not noticed an issue with quality on any of my devices.
I resized that photo yesterday due to getting the error message mentioned in this thread.
Perhaps it may have lost some quality in the resizing? Will have to look at that if it's an issue and consider higher quality resolution setting or taking a different size photo in the first place.
The ambiguity around the photo requirements for the site remains - never had an issue uploading 640x480 pixels before yesterday, when the error message prevented uploading.
The error message people here are getting states the LONGest side must be at least 500 pixels, whereas you rightly say that elsewhere the minimum stated is 500x500, meaning both sides must be 500 at least.
And the fix does seem to be increasing the size - resizing up to 500 pixels minimum on each side allows the photo to be accepted and uploaded.
Anyone know if this is a change to the sizing requirements or an error on the system?

In good old eBay fashion the information is contradictory in different places!
This link to the help pages says 500 pixels required on the longest side!

When you upload a picture to eBay three main (resized) versions of it are created with the following filenames:
If you upload an image that is less than 1600 pixels on the longest side it will look blurred when zoomed in to; the smaller the original image the more blurred it will look. The same applies to #2 if the width of the original image was less than 500 pixels.
Here is what that same picture looks like when I use the zoom feature:
As an experiment I took a picture with my phone (50MP), transferred it to my PC then used a free image editing program (GIMP) to resize it to 1600 x 1600 pixels. I then saved it as a PNG file to see what the filesize would be - it was just 1.11MB. That means I could store about 920 such pictures in one gigabyte of storage space.
As mentioned by @johnwash1 there is software available for the bulk/batch resizing of images. My personal (free) favourite is IrfanView.

Thank you for that useful info. I shall certainly take note of all that for the future 🙂 as it is desirable for the photos to show up better for sure.
Question (not to you directly 4_bathrooms) still remains how has this situation come about? And why the contradictory information?
If this is a permanent change of policy, I must have missed the announcement.
Or, if this is a temporary glitch/error, whilst there is a workaround, it causes extra time.
Some here are reporting relisting issues until images made larger, which means revising multiple existing listings to fix the photo size.
I haven't personally had that, but would be helpful to know for certain what the photo requirements are to avoid uploading issues when creating the listing, or issues with relisting down the line.
For me, as per your advice will probably look to just take larger photos from now on.
25-07-2025 4:12 PM
I think the important thing to remember is the 500 pixel requirement (whether the shortest or longest side) is simply the minimum size eBay will accept. It is not the recommended size; the recommended size is 1600 pixels for the reason demonstrated earlier.
25-07-2025 4:18 PM
Yes indeed! Thanks again 🙂
I have probably never tried zooming on my own photos in the listings (to see how bad they look! 😕), but desirable to upgrade them to the optimum as you say.

"As mentioned by @johnwash1 there is software available for the bulk/batch resizing of images. My personal (free) favourite is IrfanView. "
Yes, IrfanView is free for non-commercial use, but I don't believe it's open source. It's possible to run it on Linux, by using Wine, though I'd prefer something native.
What? Doesn't everyone use Linux now? They're missing out.
