Haven't sold on Ebay for a few years and have just had my first new listing removed.
I think it's because I pasted a link to a website in the description?
This is the message I received:
"Your listing didn't follow our Offering to buy or sell outside of eBay policy. Offering to buy or sell outside of eBay, including sharing direct contact information prior to an eBay purchase, is not allowed."
I'm selling an unwanted Xmas present and the link is to the website that originally sells it. Is that not allowed? I just wanted potential buyers to check out the website and the details of how to use the product (Etc.).

I suggest you copy the instructions from the website and insert them into your description.

No. No links other than other ebay URLs are allowed (there a few minor exceptions around legal requirements).
But you can see, from ebays perspective - they wouldn't want a link to another site that sells products that are for sale on ebay.

Thanks. That's clear to me now.
Have tried to revise the listing, but don't seem to be allowed to do it. I just need to remove the link. Do I have to start again or is there a work around?

Varies. sometimes you can edit - but sometimes you have to start again. if you can't edit - then unfortunately its a case of starting again

If you can't edit it, end it and select relist - making the change before selecting the List button.

Sell similar is better because?
If anyone was watching the original, ending and relisting would point them to the new item.
