I’ve recently sent an item, when at the post office the clerk said she could not use the prepaid qr code as the parcell was bigger than it should have been. I ended up just paying for my own postage, now I know the buyer, and he has received the item. My problem now is eBay is still waiting for me to post before I can get paid. I carnt find an option that will explain what has happened and that the buyer has the item. Any help appreciated.

I think you would need to add the new tracking number, which should update the item to 'dispatched'.

Add the new tracking manually, you may need a laptop / PC for this, and try Chrome that seems to work well with eBay.
Once that tracking shows delivery your payout should be released 2 days after that delivery date.

It sounds like you got an incompetant staff member in the Post Office. According to https://www.ebay.co.uk/sellercentre/postage/simple-delivery:—
What if the courier doesn't accept my package?
If the post office won’t accept your Simple Delivery label, and your parcel is within the maximum weight and dimensions (20 kg and 61 cm x 46cm x 46cm), we recommend showing them the guidance on the Post Office website under Personal accounts.
...
If everything with your package is in order but you're still experiencing issues at the drop off point or with the courier, please visit our Help Hub or get in touch with our customer service team.
In addition to Post Office locations, sellers posting using Royal Mail can also use Collect+ drop off locations, as long as the parcel is within the maximum weight and dimensions (20kg and 61 cm x 46cm x 46cm). Find your nearest parcelshop on the Royal Mail website.
Try and use a different PO in future or have your items collected.

This is actually an issue with the implementation of simple delivery. If you use the labels emailed by ebay they state 'ebay simple delivery' and 'marketplace seller' and do not state a size or weight. If you use those labels the Post Office should not quibble.
If you use the QR code and get the Post Office to print the label then the label provided is just a standard Royal Mail label that states for example 'Small Parcel' and the maximum weight for your item (2kg when I tried this as shown below). So naturally in this case the Post Office staff will check the parcel fits the size / weight.
Ebay have been aware of this issue for a month or more, but it may be worth complaining to them again as it's something that needs sorting out between them and Royal Mail. For now my advice would be avoiding using the QR code labels if you have any doubts about whether your item will fit in the weight / size chosen when listing.

Another seller found an alternative way to add a new tracking number, by going to the Help & Contact page, clicking on the item, clicking Manage Sale, and the drop-down menu has an option to Add Tracking.
Hope one of these methods will work for you...!
